Paxton was impeached by Texas' GOP-led House of Representatives on articles including bribery and abuse of public trust, triggering his suspension from office pending the outcome of a trial in the Texas Senate.

Trump was charged with offenses related to "gathering, transmitting, or losing" national defense information, and there is speculation about potential charges of false statements and obstruction of justice. Republicans criticized the timing of the indictment, as it appears that the DOJ intentionally delayed the process to ensure that the trial takes place after Trump possibly secures the Republican nomination and also to distract from the bribery scandal involving President Joe Biden. Leavitt also criticized Special Counsel Jack Smith and his deputy prosecutor Karen Gilbert, who Breitbart News reported on Friday "was once reprimanded by a federal judge for secretly recording a defense lawyer and his investigator." Leavitt accused Smith and Gilbert of pursuing the case at Biden and Garland’s "behest." Leavitt also claimed that Smith was a "far-left partisan hack" who led witch hunts against conservatives. Regarding Gilbert, Leavitt asserted Gilbert had engaged in unethical behavior throughout her career. Leavitt said that Smith appeared "nervous and shaky" at his very brief press conference after the indictment was unsealed.

Senator Josh Hawley tweeted that it's time to ban all senior executive branch officials and members of Congress from owning and trading stocks, noting Granholm's lie and how it took the Biden administration six weeks to admit to it. A Wall Street Journal report also revealed that one-third of the Energy Department's senior officials own stocks related to the agency's work, with nearly six dozen holding stocks of major energy companies such as Exxon Mobil. Banning politicians and their family members from trading stocks is popular among likely American voters with 76% believing Congress has an unfair advantage.

Across all demographics, including political affiliation, religious groups, and generation, Americans are becoming more comfortable rejecting preferred pronouns and acknowledging the biological reality of two sexes. The survey also found that the number of Americans who feel strongly about there being only two sexes rose from 43% in 2019 to 50% in 2023.
