More than 35 law enforcement officials across Kentucky endorse Democratic Governor Andy Beshear in his bid for re-election, citing his commitment to supporting law enforcement through pay raises, increased resources, and funding for training facilities. This comes as a surprise, given that the Republican Party is traditionally the party of law enforcement. Beshear has also received endorsements from a group of coal operators, another traditionally conservative industry.
Beshear's opponent, Republican State Attorney General Daniel Cameron, has been endorsed by more than 100 members of the law enforcement community, and his campaign has criticized Beshear's early release of prisoners during the COVID-19 pandemic.
