The Epoch Times: Rate Outlook 'Could Trigger Another Property Downturn': Experts
Australia's residential property market's recovery may be short-lived after the Reserve Bank of Australia hiked interest rates by 25 basis points on Tuesday, taking the cash rate to 4.1 percent. SQM Founder, Louis Christopher, has warned of a "double-dip downturn" in the property market, citing buyer borrowing power shrinking further as rates rise, and a pick-up in forced selling. The renewed hawkishness of the RBA could fuel another period of falling property prices, however other experts believe strong underlying drivers, a perception that home prices don't really fall and large segments of the market insulated from interest rate movements could buoy up the market.
The Epoch Times: Sylvain Charlebois: With Lower Commodity Prices, Why Aren’t Food Prices Dropping?
Agricultural commodity prices have fallen drastically, but food prices in Canada remain high, causing confusion. Research shows that commodity prices have little impact on retail prices in advanced economies, and other factors such as labor, regulations, and policies affect prices more. Food geopolitics, such as trade restrictions and embargoes, also plays a role. Governments have spent significant amounts on socioeconomic safety nets, but rhetoric against the food industry distracts from the real impact of public spending on the inflation problem. The U.K.'s proposed cap on food prices would only lead to chaos and exacerbate shortages.

The American Spectator: ‘Don’t Speak Out, You’ll Regret It’: UPenn Swimmer Breaks Silence
Former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Paula Scanlan has spoken out publicly about UPenn’s decision to allow transgender swimmer Will “Lia” Thomas onto the women’s team. Scanlan claims that there was no discussion around locker-room arrangements and that the university silenced female swimmers who expressed concern. Despite being concerned about backlash, Scanlan has now joined the fight to protect women’s sports, arguing that institutions have failed female athletes by allowing men to compete as women. Her story was shared in a 30-minute interview with the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh and has received widespread attention.
