Fox News: Former State Department analyst pleads guilty to embezzling more than $650K
A former State Department budget analyst, Levita Almuete Ferrer, 64, has pleaded guilty to embezzling over $650,000 from the agency. She misused her signature authority to write 63 checks to herself and a personal acquaintance between March 2022 and April 2024.
Ferrer attempted to conceal her actions using Quickbooks, altering payee names to obscure her theft. She faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and has agreed to pay restitution for the stolen funds.
