Breitbart: Mace: McCarthy Debt Ceiling Deal 'Not a Win for the American People'
Mace: McCarthy Debt Ceiling Deal 'Not a Win for the American People'
Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) criticized the debt limit bill negotiated by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) with the Biden administration, stating it was "not a win for the American people." Mace claimed it did not include a limit on the debt ceiling and expanded government welfare, while adding $4 trillion to the debt and worsening inflation. She also argued that progressives got all their projects funded while Republicans received nothing. Mace ultimately voted against the bill.

Red State: Courtesy Cards: Because Who Needs Rules When You Know a Cop?
Courtesy Cards: Because Who Needs Rules When You Know a Cop?
A New York cop is suing the NYPD over the use of unofficial “courtesy” cards. The cards are circulated among law enforcement officers and their friends and can be used to avoid minor motoring fines. Unofficially recognized by the NYPD, the cards operate as a perk of the job. The cards have been exchanged for discounts at bars and restaurants and during home improvement projects. The lawsuit says that officers who break the code and issue tickets to relatives or cardholders can face serious consequences while those who adhere to the practice are more often praised. The practice highlights elitism and favouritism and the need for an unprejudiced approach to law enforcement.

NH Governor Sununu Blasts Trump For Touting Cuomo’s COVID Response Over DeSantis: ‘It’s Bulls***!’
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu criticized former President Donald Trump for claiming that Andrew Cuomo handled COVID better than Ron DeSantis. Sununu called Trump's statement "bulls***" and stated that New York handled the pandemic poorly, while Florida and other states did a great job. He also noted that it was a "discredit and disservice to all the other red states" that Trump would put Cuomo over other Republican interests.

Freedom Caucus members float ousting Speaker McCarthy over debt ceiling deal ahead of vote
Some members of the House Freedom Caucus are unhappy with the debt ceiling deal, and have threatened to use parliamentary procedure to remove Speaker McCarthy. Reps. Dan Bishop and Chip Roy have vocally opposed the deal, but other caucus members, including Rep. Jim Jordan, believe that ousting McCarthy would be a "terrible idea." It is uncertain whether or not McCarthy's speakership is actually in danger.

The Epoch Times: Pennsylvania Voter ID Debate Unlikely to be Resolved by 2024
Pennsylvania Voter ID Debate Unlikely to be Resolved by 2024
The Pennsylvania Election Law Advisory Board recently discussed two voter ID options. The first option would recommend expanding the current list of ID options that would be accepted from first-time voters. The second option would make recommendations for voter ID requirements for all voters. Democrats believe that requiring voters to provide ID will disenfranchise the poor, while Pennsylvania Republicans believe ID is a necessary security measure. The board voted 8-6 to discuss voter ID for all. The conversation has been tabled to the board’s next quarterly meeting.

Red State: WATCH: Chip Roy Goes Nuclear on Republicans Over Debt Ceiling Deal
WATCH: Chip Roy Goes Nuclear on Republicans Over Debt Ceiling Deal
Texas Representative Chip Roy criticized his Republican colleagues for agreeing to a debt ceiling deal with President Joe Biden. Roy argued that the deficit savings were minimal and claimed that the deal only slows the growth of government rather than addressing the out-of-control spending. He further criticized the two-year spending cap and loopholes and gimmicks that would allow the White House to escape its obligations under the agreement. Though Roy acknowledged that negotiating with a Democratic Party that ignores basic common sense and reason is difficult, he ultimately mocked the 2% cut in Biden's IRS expansion and the failure to secure the Southern border.

Cruz Blasts Biden Admin For Funding Extreme University Group That Casts Republicans As Nazis
Sen. Ted Cruz slams the Biden administration's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for funding a far-left university group that links conservatives to Nazis. DHS's Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program gave millions of dollars to the University of Dayton to fight "domestic violence extremism and hate movements" by using a chart that places mainstream conservative organizations on the same plane as neo-Nazi groups. Cruz calls this an example of the Biden administration weaponizing the federal government "to target you."

The Epoch Times: House Passes Debt Ceiling Bill in Bipartisan Vote, Moves to Senate
House Passes Debt Ceiling Bill in Bipartisan Vote, Moves to Senate
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a temporary suspension of the nation's debt ceiling, avoiding financial default. The bill was a compromise negotiated by President Biden and House Speaker McCarthy. It suspends the debt ceiling until Jan. 1, 2025 and consists of spending cuts, workers' requirements for social welfare programs, reforms to permit oil and gas drilling, and clawbacks of $20 billion in IRS funding and $30 billion in unspent COVID-19 relief funds. Members of both parties saw it as an imperfect solution.

The bill includes consequential reforms that will lift people out of poverty and into the workforce and rein in government overreach, said Minority Leader McCarthy. While the bill is not perfect, it saves the U.S. from economic catastrophe, said Rep. Fernandez. Republicans praised the streamlined process for obtaining drilling permits and absence of new taxes for government programs. Democrats were angered by the work requirements placed on some recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Both sides gained something through the bill as well. The Senate will consider the bill immediately, with a vote to come as early as June 1.

The Epoch Times: White House Cautious About Calling China, Russia 'Evil Regimes'
White House Cautious About Calling China, Russia 'Evil Regimes'
White House refuses to label China and Russia as "evil regimes" despite their reported abuses, concentration camps, and unprovoked wars. National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications, John Kirby, insisted that President Biden does not conduct foreign policy in that manner and prefers to maintain open lines of communication with Beijing to avoid misunderstandings. However, Kirby also acknowledged that the U.S. views its relationship with China as a "competition" and that the G-7 leaders will respond to China's economic coercion and other unfair practices. This comes after reports that a state-sponsored Chinese hacking group has been targeting U.S. critical infrastructure since 2021.

Johnston Plans to Keep Role as Special Rapporteur Despite Commons Vote Calling for Him to Step Down
Former governor general David Johnston refuses to step down from his mandate to probe foreign interference in Canadian politics despite a House of Commons motion on May 31 to have him do so. The motion was introduced by NDP MP Jenny Kwan and supported by the Conservatives and Bloc Quebecois, calling on Johnston to “step aside from his role” and for the government to form a public commission of inquiry. Johnston had investigated allegations that Beijing tried to interfere in the past two federal elections and recommended against a public inquiry. Trudeau said he had confidence in Johnston, but opposition parties criticised his appointment because of family connections to the prime minister.

Biden warned that a default would cause an economic recession and job losses. It now moves to the Senate where it is expected to pass.

Miller’s producer for the film, Barbara Muschietti, also defended him. Miller’s troubles include allegations of assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and child endangerment. Despite this, Hollywood seems to be standing by Miller, with James Gunn, head of DC Studios, offering support, although he later hedged his bets.

RFK Jr rips Trump over ties to Big Pharma: 'legalized bribery'
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. criticized Donald Trump for his links to Big Pharma, claiming that Trump owns stock in both Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. Kennedy claims that Trump placed "pharma shills" in his administration and accepted a $1 million donation from Pfizer for his 2016 inauguration committee. Journalist Pedro Gonzalez echoed these claims, adding that Scott Gottlieb and Alex Azar, former Trump administration officials, had connections to the pharmaceutical industry as an executive and lobbyist, respectively. Kennedy alleges that he was contacted by the Trump White House to be part of a vaccine safety commission investigating the potential link between childhood vaccinations and autism, but was cut off after a few meetings with the transition team.

A Florida MMA fighter wrangled a 10-foot alligator in front of a crowd of nearly 200 people outside a school in Jacksonville, grabbing it by the tail and later the neck. The crowd cheered as Mike Dragich struggled with the reptile, and he compared the experience to walking through a crowd of screaming fans to get to a wrestling ring. Dragich's antics also drew comparisons with Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission estimates the state has a population of 1.3 million alligators, which are considered a conservation success story.
