Foreign Policy: The Rise and Sudden Fall of the Arctic Council
After being suspended due to Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine, the Arctic Council has resumed its activity. However, Russia was excluded from the event, highlighting concerns about the council's relevance without its largest Arctic member. Norway, which now oversees the council, faces challenging questions about how to run a circumpolar forum that neglects half of the High North. The council is a unique international group formed around a specific set of challenges to protect the environment and peoples of the north, with Indigenous leaders as equal stakeholders. However, the group is still unwilling to include Russia, and its projects without direct Russian involvement quietly resumed their work.
Liberty Nation: Secretary of State Blinken Makes Crucial Visit to Scandinavia
US Secretary of State Blinken is visiting Sweden, Norway, and Finland to discuss ways to create a bulwark against Russian aggression, NATO accession, and efforts to ensure that the Arctic remains a conflict-free region. In Sweden, Blinken participated in the fourth US-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting and confirmed the US and Sweden are working together on shared interests and on new export controls on technology found in Iranian drones used to target Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. During his trip to Norway, Blinken discussed ways NATO can better support Ukraine and expediting delivery of F-16 fighters to the Kyiv government. In Finland, he gave a major speech at Helsinki City Hall, emphasizing the bilateral ties between Finland and the US, and Finland's NATO membership.
Foreign Policy: Stop Worrying About Chinese Hegemony in Asia
The United States aims to prevent China from becoming a regional hegemon in the Indo-Pacific, fearing they will persuade neighboring countries to defer to Beijing's foreign policy wishes. While it is understandable why a state would want to be a regional hegemon, history shows that such attempts inevitably fail and inflict harm on the state and others. As such, a Chinese bid for regional hegemony is likely to fail, and the United States and its Asian partners must ensure their efforts to maintain the balance of power do not push China towards a hegemonic bid.

The Epoch Times: Cleveland Fed President Says There Is No ‘Compelling’ Reason to Pause Rate Hikes
Loretta Mester, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, sees no “compelling reason” to wait on another interest rate hike in order to control U.S. inflation. Some Fed policymakers have suggested delaying a rate hike to assess the impact of their policy on inflation, but Mester argued that only more action can counter current inflationary pressures. An agreement on the U.S. borrowing limit between Republican leaders and the Biden administration relieves some uncertainty surrounding the economy. Mester remains a policy hawk on inflation and is open to being swayed by the next employment report and latest inflation results.
The Federalist Papers: Bud Light Gets the Worst News Possible as Direct Competitor Threatens to Overtake Woke Company on Charts
Bud Light may lose its first-place position among beers as Modelo Especial gains on its sales, nearing Bud Light's spot as the most popular beer in the world. Bud Light suffered a 25.7 percent drop in sales in May due to a conservative boycott of the brand after a disastrous business partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Analysts attribute the decline to the growth of microbreweries and artisanal beers.
Red State: Bud Light Just Keeps on Digging, Donates $200K to National LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce
Bud Light is facing a 30% decline in sales since partnering with Dylan Mulvaney, who pretends to be a teenage girl on TikTok, resulting in a major marketing disaster. A-B InBev responded to the boycott by disavowing Mulvaney's work with the company, but its efforts to regain market relevance have been perceived as desperate, including giving away free beer and partnering with Harley Davidson. However, they have not stopped their efforts to court liberal favor, announcing a $200,000 donation and support for the LGBT community. Anheuser-Busch has donated over $13 million to LGBTQ+ causes in the past two decades, but sales continue to decline, and it begs questioning how they value "woke" over long-loyal customers.

The Second District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles has ruled that Leslie Van Houten, a former follower of Charles Manson who has been in prison since the 1960s for her role in two killings, should be released on parole. The decision overturns the verdict of California Governor Gavin Newsom who has denied her parole on five separate occasions since 2016 stating that she remained a danger to society. Van Houten was convicted of murder for her role in helping Manson kill grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary in 1969 and has been imprisoned for more than 50 years. The ruling can still be appealed by Newsom through California Attorney General Rob Bonta.
