The Epoch Times: Next WA Premier Touts His Energy, Drive as He Steps Up
Roger Cook will take over as the 31st premier of Western Australia, following Mark McGowan's retirement. Cook, who is currently the deputy premier, has support from both factions of the Labor Party. He promises continuity in policy, with a focus on cost-of-living pressures, health, housing, and job opportunities for West Australians. Cook faces challenges such as riots at the Banksia Hill Detention Centre and the state's long-running fight for its GST share. He promises to continue McGowan's hardline on this issue, saying they will "fight tooth and nail" to keep their fair share of the GST.
Red State: Marianne Williamson Accuses DNC of Rigging Primary for Joe Biden
Marianne Williamson accuses the DNC of rigging primaries in favor of Joe Biden, citing their plan to forgo primary debates. Tara Reade, who accused Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993, has fled to Russia after feeling unsafe in the US due to alleged threats against her and her family. She announced her move during a press conference in Moscow with Maria Butina, a former Russian spy. Reade also claimed she overheard Biden discussing wanting to go to war with Russia back in the early 1990s and asked about applying for Russian citizenship.
Breitbart: FBI Confirms Existence of File Allegedly Linking Biden to Bribery Scheme
The FBI confirmed the existence of an informant file linking President Joe Biden to a $5 million bribery scheme with a foreign national. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer threatened to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress for refusing to provide the unclassified file, instead offering to let Comer view it at FBI headquarters. The investigation found that the Biden family business received at least $10 million in payments from foreign business ventures.
National Review: The Corner: I Believe in Campaigns
Writing about new presidential campaigns, the author explains the importance of letting candidates redefine themselves in their own speeches. He welcomes RFK Jr. into the race as an injection of populism from the left, even though he recognizes that he used to propose unconstitutional ideas. The author believes that it is important to give room for change in politicians. He is glad that RFK Jr. is denouncing the censoriousness of the progressive movement.
Daily Wire: Elon Musk: The Left Is Not Funny Because They Do Not Believe In Things That Are True
Elon Musk explains in an interview with the Babylon Bee that "the political Left is no longer funny" because they don't believe in things that are true. Musk argues that a lot of comedy is rooted in a revealed truth, and if you're "premised on a lie," you can no longer be funny. He suggests that the Left's lack of humor is due to the many "no fly zones" that make it difficult to find anything left to make fun of.

Breitbart: Watch: 'Dawson's Creek' Star James Van Der Beek Rips DNC for Backing Biden -- 'No Debate, No Democracy,' Do Your F**king Job'
Actor James Van Der Beek slams the DNC for not allowing Joe Biden's challengers Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to debate him on TV. In a TikTok video, Van Der Beek asserts that democracy cannot exist if an unelected elite decides who becomes president without allowing voters to hear all sides out in a debate. Meanwhile, billionaire Elon Musk also criticizes the DNC for not allowing primary debates, saying that not having debates is undemocratic and ridiculous.
Red State: Former VP Mike Pence Will Announce Presidential Bid in Iowa Next Week
Former Vice President Mike Pence is set to announce his 2024 presidential campaign in Des Moines, Iowa on June 7, his 64th birthday. A campaign insider stated that Pence plans to reintroduce himself as a Reagan conservative and will emphasize his support of traditional conservative principles, deep-rooted faith, and uncommon character. While many Republicans regard Pence with contempt due to his actions during the election certification process, his supporters believe that his actions upheld the Constitution. Pence remains a third-place candidate among the crowded field of candidates.
The Pence campaign plans to show a video followed by an announcement speech during the campaign kickoff event. Pence has been on a book tour and promoting his memoir, but he has been spending more time in Iowa, as it is considered the pivotal player in the primary race. Pence has been testing the waters for his presidential bid by giving speeches and promoting his unrelenting support for the war in Ukraine while proposing cuts to Medicare and Social Security. Pence is polling slightly ahead of former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, making him the third-place candidate for now.
Daily Wire: Just A Reminder, The Catholic Church Does Not Support Open Borders. It Has Pretty Reasonable Immigration Guidance.
President Biden should take advice from the Roman Catholic Church on immigration. The Church does not support open borders but offers reasonable guidelines for how a wealthy country should handle foreigners seeking to cross the border. The U.S. border has become a sieve under Biden, with millions flooding in and burdening cities and states. The country suffers from debt, inflation, a housing crisis, failing public schools, and other problems, which are exacerbated by mass immigration. Catholic politicians often cite their faith as a reason for the U.S. to welcome millions, even as millions of Americans struggle. The Church believes that more prosperous nations are obliged to welcome foreigners "to the extent they are able", but it also allows countries to set standards, laws, and regulations regarding immigration. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws, and to assist in carrying civic burdens. Many Catholic non-profits and non-governmental organizations are facilitating illegal crossings with taxpayer money. Congress must cut off that cash flow to help make a dent in illegal immigration.
Breitbart: Texas Governor Appoints Interim AG Following Paxton Impeachment
Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed John Scott, former Texas Secretary of State, as interim attorney general after Ken Paxton’s automatic suspension following impeachment by the Texas House of Representatives. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has appointed a committee to draft recommendations for the impeachment trial. The 31 Texas senators, including Paxton’s wife, Senator Angela Paxton, will act as jurors in a trial presided over by Patrick. A two-thirds vote by senators present is required for Paxton to be permanently removed.

The Epoch Times: Western Countries Pressure Turkey to Admit Sweden Into NATO
Turkey demands that Sweden cracks down on Kurdish militant groups before it considers its application to join NATO. Ankara opposes Sweden's bid to join the alliance until the country takes action to prevent these groups from operating on its soil. President Erdogan has accused the Swedish government of not fulfilling last year's deal to calm Ankara's security concerns, which has resulted in friction between Turkey and the rest of the alliance. Stockholm's recent move to join NATO—an unprecedented break from its declared neutrality from armed conflict—is seen as vital for the security of the Nordic and Baltic regions in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Despite calls from other Western countries for Turkey to accept Sweden's NATO bid, Ankara refuses to budge on the PKK issue overrode the issue; this is overwhelmingly supported by Erdogan's political base. Relations between Erdogan, Washington, and Brussels have been tense for years, and Turkey's relationship with other countries in the region remains hostile. It remains unclear whether Sweden will gain entry to NATO despite the recent approval of Finland's application in March. The White House approved a $259 million upgrade package for Turkey’s existing F-16s in April, but the deal to buy a multibillion-dollar purchase of new fighter jets remains stalled in Congress.

The Epoch Times: Renewable Energy Pipeline Puts Targets in Jeopardy
The renewable energy industry in Australia is facing a slowdown in new projects reaching financial close, with no renewable generation projects attaining financial close in the first quarter of 2023. The headwinds include incentives available in the US and Europe, supply chain and worker shortages, delays in planning and licensing, and difficulty in connecting to the grid. There are also concerns about the role of state governments in the ownership of renewable energy generation. The industry is calling on the government to extend the Renewable Energy Target beyond 2030 to support more large-scale investment.

Buena Park City Council approved an ordinance that introduces new regulations for sober living homes in response to complaints and concerns about living conditions. Owners of sober living homes will be required to apply for a city-issued permit, provide contact information for their manager and operator, policies for patients, and list rules and regulations. The ordinance also requires patients to participate in "legitimate" recovery programs, an onsite manager is always required, and patients being evicted must receive at least 48 hours’ notice. Existing homes have six months to apply for the new permit and a year to submit the required information, with those with six or fewer patients excluded as per state law.
The Epoch Times: 9 California Fentanyl Bills Advance, 8 Targeting Overdose Prevention, One Increasing Penalties
California Assembly lawmakers passed nine bills aimed at addressing the fentanyl crisis, including education, access to opioid reversal medications, and harsher dealer penalties. Some Democrats are resistant to increased penalties, citing the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s. Republicans and some Democrats view the fentanyl crisis as making this a whole different problem. Fentanyl is highly addictive and accessible, devastating California communities. Deaths from fentanyl spiked exponentially in California from 2016 to 2021. The only bill related to enforcement sent to the Senate adds sentencing guidelines for fentanyl possession. A special hearing of newly formed Select Committee on Fentanyl, Opioid Addiction, and Overdose Prevention left lawmakers frustrated. Access to Narcan-a nasal spray used to reverse opioid overdoses-is a key priority for lawmakers, with three of the nine approved bills related to the medication.

The Epoch Times: What It Is Like to Be a Police Officer in San Francisco: Ex-Officer
San Francisco is facing a record low number of police officers, causing calls to be delayed or ignored. The staffing decline of 20 percent since 2018 has impacted everyday life and businesses' willingness to operate in the city, with large retailers closing down due to safety concerns. Additionally, thieves are reportedly stealing entire fleets of shopping carts, and property crime has become more unmanageable for law enforcement due to soft-on-crime policies and anti-police attitudes. The situation is frustrating for police officers, who often feel apathetic in their job. While turning the city around will be difficult, there is hope for positive change through people working together.
