The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the AEB, which would be required within three years, would "dramatically" reduce the number of crashes with pedestrians and rear-end collisions. The AEB system detects oncoming obstacles and alerts the driver when a crash is imminent. NHTSA is undergoing a 60-day public commentary period.
