Border App Releases Almost 80,000 Foreign Nationals Into U.S. In Last Four Months
Almost 80,000 foreign nationals have entered the US through the CBP One app for asylum seekers since January, with an average of 1,070 scheduling appointments daily. Texas is suing the Biden administration over the app, and Senator Josh Hawley calls it a "concierge service for illegal immigrants." The app cuts out smugglers but is seen as enabling illegal immigration. Additionally, 1.5 million illegal immigrants have "got away" under the Biden administration, with 63% of Americans disapproving of Biden's handling of the border.

The Epoch Times: Cut Housing Costs in California by Repealing Prop. 39 from 2000
Cut Housing Costs in California by Repealing Prop. 39 from 2000
Billionaire Reed Hastings manipulated California's political system with his immense wealth by funding Proposition 39, which reduced the passage threshold for school construction bonds. This led to increased property taxes, higher housing costs, and subsequently, the housing and homelessness crises. While the argument against the two-thirds vote is that it isn't democracy, 55 percent is not democracy either. California students' low performance in math and reading scores does not justify the need for more funding, especially when homeowners and renters are struggling to pay high property taxes. The initiative to repeal Prop. 39 could help reduce housing costs and homelessness.

DOJ Targets Jim Justice’s Coal Empire As West Virginia Governor Readies 2024 Senate Bid
The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against West Virginia Governor Jim Justice's coal empire, accusing it of accumulating millions in unpaid civil penalties. The lawsuit targets 13 Justice family-owned coal businesses and the governor's adult son and alleges that the businesses posed health and safety hazards and failed to remedy over 130 violations of federal law. The governor, a Republican, is the leading candidate to challenge Democratic Senator Joe Manchin in 2024.

Ex-FBI director James Comey trashes 'crazy' theory feds are out to get Republicans: 'Nutty article of faith'
Former FBI Director James Comey denies allegations that the bureau targets Republicans and insists he has no regrets about the Trump Russia investigation in an interview with CNN. Comey blames Trump and those around him for seeing the FBI as a threat and suggests that the notion that the FBI is a leftist cabal out to get Republicans is "crazy." Republican trust in the FBI has halved in the last decade. Comey reassures that the FBI will be fine in the long run and that the fever around the MAGA world will eventually break.

Harlow confronts Comey over Special Counsel John Durham’s report that launching an investigation into former President Donald Trump’s dealings with Russia was unjustified. Comey says that there is nothing new in the report and that there are no differences between them that would interest the public.

Arizona Secretary of State Candidate Ordered to Pay Legal Fees in 'Groundless' Election Challenge
Arizona Republican candidate Mark Finchem was ordered to pay over $48,000 in attorney fees related to litigation after he challenged the 2022 election results in court. Finchem was ordered to pay $40,000 in attorney fees to his Democrat opponent and now Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and about $7,400 in attorney fees to Gov. Katie Hobbs. Both judges found the lawsuit to be "groundless." The same judge also imposed sanctions on Finchem and his attorney in March, calling Finchem's challenge to the election "groundless" and ordering monetary sanctions under Arizona law, which she said helps discourage lawsuits for which there is "no legitimate basis or fact or law."

FBI Director Wray Doesn’t Have a Leg to Stand on in Contempt Fight
The FBI has become thoroughly partisan and has lost its prestige. Director Chris Wray is about to be held in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena he has no lawful basis to defy. Although Wray believes that giving away information could compromise the bureau’s cultivation of confidential human sources, Congress is entitled to know the information and the FBI has no basis to keep it under wraps.

DHS-Funded Anti-Terror Program Targeting Americans SCRUBS Website
The University of Dayton's PREVENTS-OH program, funded by DHS, removed controversial videos from its website that portrayed conservatives, Christians, and Republicans as neo-Nazis. The program used the "Pyramid of Far-Right Radicalization," which compared former President Trump to a genocidal dictator and accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of planning a second Holocaust. MRC Free Speech America uncovered the program and called out the university for using taxpayer funds to target Americans. The university claimed no ties to Biden's DHS, but documents show otherwise, and the university was granted $352,109 by the program.

Has the Rebellion Against McCarthy Over the Debt Ceiling Gone Silent?
McCarthy faces backlash from conservative hard-liners over debt ceiling deal, but rebellion appears to be at bay. House GOP members, including influential conservatives, have urged their fellow party members to support the agreement. However, some conservatives, like Rep. Chip Roy, worry about the push to get the deal through Congress without unanimous consent from all seven Republicans on the House Rules Committee. The agreement was made with McCarthy when conservatives voted for his Speakership, but had not been made public until recently. The running tally of strikes against McCarthy may trigger a more serious response in the future.

Former President Trump criticized his former press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, after she cited poll numbers that he claimed were false. McEnany made the remarks regarding Iowa poll numbers for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime”. Trump reacted on Truth Social, dismissing her as “milktoast,” and claiming he was 34 points up on DeSantis, not 25. Many conservatives criticized Trump for his attack on McEnany, with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade calling her “one of the best press secretaries ever.”

MSNBC host Joy Reid warns that if Ron DeSantis is elected president in 2024, America will become like China, Cuba, North Korea, Afghanistan, or Iran. According to Reid, DeSantis wants to micromanage every aspect of citizens' lives, replace university boards, monitor what people read, ban books, ban artistic freedom of speech, and enforce a national six-week abortion ban. Reid characterizes DeSantis's proposals as totalitarianism and says they would require a massive federal investment to control and squash unwanted "woke" ideas.

Trump Has Game-Changing Plan to End Huge 'Magnet' for Illegal Immigration and Secure Our Border
Donald Trump plans to prevent children of illegal immigrants from automatically becoming U.S. citizens if he is elected president. Trump will sign an executive order to make this policy. The move is aimed at deterring illegal immigration and ending a major incentive for it. Trump called Joe Biden’s policy of allowing illegal border crossers to storm across the border and their future children to become automatic US citizens "a reward for breaking the laws of the United States." The policy is believed to benefit the illegal parents. Trump described his policy as grounded in sound legal theory and that it would also end the practice of birth tourism.

Sunny Hostin, Jane Fonda under fire for bashing White Americans: 'Not making the country better'
Liberal elites face backlash over criticism aimed at White men and women in attacks on the "patriarchy." Jane Fonda blamed men and racism for climate change at the Cannes Film Festival, calling for the arrest of oil executives who are "all men," prompting criticism. The Democrats' support is dwindling as a result of identity politics, and "they're taking the beautiful phrase e pluribus unum and abolishing the unum, the unity that has made us a great country," according to Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer.

ABC's Sunny Hostin also received sharp backlash for her remarks targeting White women voters, accusing them of wanting to "protect the patriarchy" by falling "in line" with their husbands' voting patterns. She referred to the book "They Were Her Property: White Women as Slave Owners in the American South," seemingly comparing those who went along with their slave-owning husbands to any who continue to support Trump. Kennedy fired back at Hostin for "shaming" mothers and said the liberal ABC host is not bringing anything of value to viewers.

The Corner: Chris Christie Jumps into the Presidential Pool
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to announce his run for the 2024 Republican presidential primary next week in New Hampshire. His candidacy seems irrelevant, with his last campaign remembered for the destruction of Marco Rubio's national political aspirations and his haste to endorse Donald Trump afterward in return for a cabinet position that never came. His positioning, according to Axios, will be as a man “who speaks his mind, takes risks and is happy to punch Donald Trump in the nose.” Though he may present a charisma challenge to Republican Governor Ron DeSantis in a northeastern retail state like New Hampshire, it's hard not to notice Christie's overweening ego. Christie simply wants to matter; winning or losing are relatively less important so long as he remains a key supporting figure in the story.

WATCH: Actor James Van Der Beek Slams DNC for Coddling Joe Biden
Actor James Van Der Beek criticized the DNC's decision to cancel primary debates and coronate Joe Biden as the 2024 presidential nominee, citing Biden's declining mental state and the lack of a real primary process. Van Der Beek argued that if Biden couldn't finish the campaign, Democrats would be stuck with Kamala Harris, who has an even worse approval rating than Biden. Many Democrats agree that Biden's health and mental degradation is a problem, but are too scared to speak out. The DNC could have avoided silencing its own party members by setting a high bar for debate qualification, but instead chose to cancel the debates arbitrarily.

Indiana high school students raise $84,000 to put on LGBT play with gay, 'nonbinary characters': 'Not a man'
Indiana high school students raise $84,000 to put on pro-LGBT play "Marian: or The True Tale of Robin Hood" despite protests from community members. The play had been cancelled earlier due to reported complaints about LGBTQ storylines. However, the students put on the performance outside of school grounds and were a success. The play contained controversial scenes, including when a female character confesses her love for another woman and a character declaring they are nonbinary.

Similarly, in Middlefield, Ohio, a high school play was cancelled due to inappropriate vulgarity in its song lyrics, such as references to erections, Jesus, and gay parents. Other plays have also been cancelled across the U.S. for various reasons such as a love story between two women, depiction of a same-sex couple and nonbinary character, suicide, addiction, racism, killing, scenes of children smoking, and references to torture and self-harm.

Despite this, analysts have given Anheuser-Busch an average target price of $67, a 25% increase on the current price, due to bullish sentiment and projections that sales figures are stabilizing.

The Corner: Why Pride Onesies Are Wrong
Phil Klein of NRO's tweeted about Kohl's producing a children's clothing line for Pride Month. Madeleine Kearns responded, questioning why LGBTQ ideas are projected onto children's clothing. Sexual innuendos on adult clothing are one thing, but projecting these onto children's clothing is another. Selling political messaging on a baby's onesie is equivalent to a seventh political bumper sticker on the back of a rusting minivan. Despite the controversy, it's just a shirt, and a baby's onesie isn't a billboard for his parent's ideological points. The images show Pride items discounted at 50%, so there is something deeply wrong with paying $10 for a onesie.

Target pulled some merchandise and moved others to less prominent places in response to the controversy. Carnell criticized what she called "rainbow capitalism," arguing that businesses that engage in activism should not back down from political statements, regardless of consumer reaction. Despite creating Satanic-inspired designs, Carnell clarified that she does not believe in Satan and sees it as a metaphor.

The Epoch Times: Taiwan Today Is Eerily Similar to the Sudetenland in 1938
Taiwan Today Is Eerily Similar to the Sudetenland in 1938
Newsweek reported that the People's Liberation Army Navy continues to intensify its combat exercises in the Taiwan Strait, East China Sea, and South China Sea. Chinese leader Xi Jinping is moving toward the "absorption" of Taiwan in much the same way he did with Hong Kong after imposing the national security law. The CCP may be planning a full-on invasion of Taiwan, if the latter remains resolute. The United States and its allies should deter China by extending the US nuclear umbrella over Taiwan, ramping up the US Seventh Fleet presence in and around Taiwan, and accelerating arms delivery to Taiwan.

Taiwan is the last obstacle standing to the CCP's Greater China policy. The Sudetenland in 1938 and Taiwan in 2023 share the same geopolitical features. If America and its allies appease China, they might end up fighting an even bigger war, much like what happened in 1939. Rather than letting China achieve its military ambitions, the United States should take concrete military measures to deter Xi and his megalomaniacal goals, such as deploying HIMARS, ATACMS support detachments, and F-35 detachments.

Innovation Fuels Nuclear Energy’s Revival, But Challenges Remain
Georgia has built the first new nuclear power plant in the US in decades as an answer to climate and energy challenges. The multi-billion-dollar project was seven years late and over budget, partly due to bureaucratic delays and political stigmas surrounding nuclear power. However, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and China's nuclear power expansion have created geopolitical incentives and increased political support for nuclear power. Several innovative and advanced reactor designs for nuclear power are currently being developed, such as small and medium modular reactors and thorium-based reactors, which are more cost-effective and flexible in deployment. However, regulatory support and reform are still needed, and the greatest danger to a nuclear energy revival remains public misunderstandings and bureaucratic inefficiencies.

Securing Asia’s Energy And Natural Resources Future
As Europe and the US stumble, Asia leads global economic growth and requires energy security. Asian economies continue to invest in domestic fossil fuels and import coal, oil and gas to fuel growth. While many desire decarbonisation, energy security and slow progress on impactful carbon costs and policies lead to Asia being forced back to coal and continuing to rely on fossil fuels for energy production. Energy transition is a challenge, but renewables will overtake fossil fuels by 2034 and will attract $3tn of low-carbon power investment over the next decade. Asian net zero pledges are supported by government-led funding and low carbon initiatives.

The Epoch Times: Bankers and Regulators Fail Money and Banking 101
Bankers and Regulators Fail Money and Banking 101
During the 2023 crisis, banks failed due to holding too much long-term fixed-rate debt, including U.S. Treasuries, demonstrating poor management and decision-making. Regulators must closely scrutinize the quality of management at established banks to prevent incompetent bankers from running financial intermediaries. Banks must diversify their depositors and borrowers to manage liquidity and credit risk and face interest-rate risk due to changes in the value of assets and liabilities. Silicon Valley Bank, Signature Bank, and First Republic Bank failed due to wealthy and cliquish investors, and inappropriately managing their interest-rate-sensitive assets and liabilities. Other large commercial banks also rely on a few large depositors and long-term assets, necessitating careful regulation.

EB-1C provides a direct path to a permanent green card for investors who may use start-ups in the US to transfer themselves from abroad. In contrast, EB-5 operates under a conditional green card structure, requires a minimum investment of $800,000, and investors do not have direct control over their funds if they choose to invest through a regional center.

The perception of such foods as "gross" is often shaped by cultural and psychological factors, rather than by anything inherently distasteful about them. Nutritionists argue that "slimy, smelly, chunky" are not reasons enough to overlook the nutritional value of certain foods, such as organ meats, that are high in essential vitamins and minerals. They suggest adding tremella mushrooms to stir-fries for texture or using cricket flour in baked goods to add a protein boost.
