The Epoch Times: Creative Arts Is Being Held Ransom by The Voice
The Australian federal government seeks to implement an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, a race-based advisory body that would make representations to parliamentarians. The Uluru Statement from the Heart demands a percentage of the gross domestic product be paid annually to Aboriginal Australians, which the author staunchly opposes. This is at odds with nearly all Australian artists, arts executives, and bureaucrats who publicly support The Voice. The author questions why artists are so keen to champion it and suggests that they are being held to ransom by the state funding they receive.
The federal government released its National Cultural Plan, "Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place," which claims to recognise and respect First Nations stories at the centre of Australia's arts and culture. However, the author believes that the emphasis on style over craft is a totalitarian approach to art that dictates which stories are acceptable and undesirable. 79.4% of the national cultural plan is dedicated to Aboriginal Australians, which is thematically disproportionate to Australia's population. The author suspects that the arts are being used to further a specific political agenda, causing artists and arts institutions to promote radical ideologies to maximise state funding. The author suggests that artists reassert their authenticity by embracing an entrepreneurial spirit and publicly opposing ideological constraints.
Townhall: Blame the Media for the National Debt
Democrats and Republicans have agreed to lift the debt ceiling, but America's national debt continues to climb. The Democrat-messaging media fails to offer basic facts in budget coverage, instead focusing on horse-race jockeying and finger-pointing. Out of 44 soundbites from anchors, reporters, and nonpartisan sources, 21 blamed Republicans, 23 blamed both sides, and zero blamed only Democrats. This is supported by Media Research Center's study, which found that evening-news coverage did not criticize the size of the largest spending bills passed by Congress and included three times as many complaints that these bills were too small or omitted too much than observations that they were too big or too expensive.
Townhall: Ron DeSantis, Real Presidential Firepower
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announces he is running for president at the annual meeting of the National Religious Broadcasters. A Yale baseball captain, Harvard Law School graduate, and Navy veteran who served in the Iraq War, DeSantis is a battle-hardened conservative who believes in right and wrong and giving people the freedom to live their lives. He has made school choice available throughout Florida, putting parents in charge of their children's education. As governor, DeSantis opened Florida's economy and schools during the pandemic, showing leadership and courage when most other states were still closed.
DeSantis' leadership challenges today are even greater than those faced by Reagan. Our fiscal and cultural challenges are daunting, including a national debt about 100% of GDP, federal spending almost 25% of GDP, and an economy growing around 2% per year. As a result of the breakdown in traditional values and family, our country is aging and the birth rate of babies to unwed mothers is now 40%. DeSantis is a soldier, not a socialite, motivated to do what is right for the country, not reinvent himself based on what voters want to see and hear. America needs leadership that is tough, not jovial, and from what has been seen so far, Ron DeSantis may be exactly what we need in 2024.
Townhall: Democrats Abandon Working Class, Become Party of Freeloaders
The debt ceiling was in a stalemate over whether people should collect government assistance indefinitely, leading to a small victory for Republicans as food stamp recipients up to age 55 will have to work or participate in work readiness for 20 hours a week. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called work requirements for Medicaid a "nonstarter" while Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) bashed it as "just cruel."
The Democratic Party has shifted its stance from the party of working people to supporting freeloaders by pushing for monthly checks to parents with no strings attached and offering free hotel rooms, meal services, healthcare, and legal assistance for up to four months to migrants. Democrats are erecting a welfare-industrial complex, offering a lifetime seat on the taxpayer-funded gravy train to nonworking parents who can get $24,000 or more in federal benefits. The debt-limit showdown over government assistance is a preview of the bigger fight to come.
Breitbart: Comey: Trump Is 'Existential Threat'; GOP Is a Cult that Needs to Lose in 2024
Former FBI Director James Comey warned that Donald Trump poses an "existential threat" to the rule of law and could cause unprecedented damage if elected again. Comey warned that Trump has tried to subvert the FBI and the Department of Justice to avoid investigations and stated that he is disgusted by Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' suggestions of pardoning those who committed criminal acts on January 6th. Comey also declared that the Republican Party has become radicalized and transformed into a "cult" that does not reflect the values of the United States.
Townhall: Ambush Impeachment in Texas Stole from Voters
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was impeached and removed from office in a secret plot by one legislative chamber, undoing the will of voters who re-elected him by 800,000 votes. The impeachment, which lacked public hearings and justification, was seen as an undemocratic assault on conservative values and opposition towards open borders and Covid-19 vaccine mandates. Republicans who depend on dark money mega-donors for campaign funding were reluctant to oppose Paxton's removal while Democrats did not criticize the move, except for a few who spoke out against the nature of the impeachment.

The Epoch Times: Biden Administration Responds to Reports of Ukraine Bombing Civilian Area in Russia
The Biden administration's support of Ukraine in its war against Russia has come under scrutiny due to reports of Ukraine attacking Russian civilians and the possibility that US weapons were used in the attack. While the administration continues to defend its policies, the political divide in the US is evident, with Democrats generally in favor of aiding Ukraine and Republicans split on the issue. The American public overall supports some measures of aid to Ukraine, but opinions are divided on the specific forms of aid.

Forbes: Musk Visit Highlights Business Role In U.S.-China Ties — AmCham China President
CEO Elon Musk's visit to Beijing highlights the continuing importance of the China market to the U.S. amid political and military strains, said American Chamber of Commerce in China President Michael Hart in an interview. Hart added that many US brands have become popular and widespread in China - a benefit not seen in trade figures - and while the China-US trade imbalance persists, the commercial end must remain up to continue trade. He said a wider national attention in the US to commerce with China is the solution, along with greater efforts to safeguard American technology and intellectual property.

Breitbart: Watch: Disneyland Video Shows Male Employee Dressed in Drag and Greeting Children
Disneyland employee dressed in drag greets children in viral TikTok video. The man, known as "Nick," works at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where young girls can dress up as Disney princesses. The video has been re-posted to Twitter, and some critics have expressed concerns that Disney is promoting gender-inclusivity to children. The Walt Disney Co. has been working to make its parks more gender-neutral in recent years, including opening gender-neutral restrooms. This development comes as the company wages a legal battle with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over anti-LGBTQ laws.

Fox News: Nine juveniles charged, five in custody in California beating of US Marines: mayor
Nine juveniles have been charged in connection with the assault on three U.S. Marines at a beach in San Clemente, California over Memorial Day weekend. Five suspects have been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon and remain in custody, while the other four are charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. Investigators do not anticipate any additional arrests, but that could change. The confrontation allegedly started when the Marines told the teenagers to stop lighting fireworks on the beach.
