The Epoch Times: US Debt Ceiling Deal Clears Crucial Hurdle Ahead of House Vote
US Debt Ceiling Deal Clears Crucial Hurdle Ahead of House Vote
The House Rules Committee passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the US debt ceiling agreement established by President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), with a vote of 7 to 6, enabling House lawmakers to vote on the bill. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) joined all four Democrats on the committee in voting against the deal. The debt limit agreement could reduce spending by more than $1 trillion over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office, and includes a rescission of unspent COVID-19 relief funds. The bill is set to add another $4 trillion to the national debt.

The American Spectator: I Bear Glad Tidings From Spain
I Bear Glad Tidings From Spain
In Spain, the right-wing parties won an overwhelming majority in local elections, including an absolute majority in Madrid. The socialist government, which has been known for its insults, threats, and censorship towards those who disagree with them, has been dealt a historic blow, leading President Pedro Sánchez to bring forward general elections. Conservatives hope that Spain will join the resurgence of Western conservatism and defeat the suffocating, suicidal woke culture.

The American Spectator: American Dementia: Lest We Forget the Past
American Dementia: Lest We Forget the Past
Persistent revisionist attacks on America's history and values are creating a national identity crisis and a manufactured state of national dementia. Conmen use the fallacious argument that the nation's forefathers were solely enslavers, demand monetary forms of reparations, and attempt to match America with Nazis as equal in their imperialism and invasion power. The new war combines all three conflicts - like good old King George, the invisible enemy demands obedience; like the Civil War, it divides Americans and erases any unified notion of "the people"; and like World War II, it seeks the erosion of the republic. The common denominator seems to have always been life itself, or the ability to live a life of relative freedom in peace - and it looks very much like this is at risk.

Silo is not a show to skip
In the TV adaptation of Hugh Howey's "Silo," survivors in a post-apocalyptic future begin to question the danger of the world outside the silo they have inhabited for the past century. The show has a first-rate cast and world-building, although it can be slow in places and sometimes tries too hard to create tension.

Alabama bans transgender female athletes from women's college sports
Alabama bans transgender women from playing on female college sports teams, in addition to previously banning them from K-12 sports. The law prohibits students from playing under a gender identity different from their biological sex, even after undergoing hormone treatment. The ban has drawn criticism from LGBTQ+ advocates who claim it is part of a "systematic attack" against LGBTQ+ people in Alabama and other states. Twenty other states also have restrictions on transgender girls and women participating in female sports.

Forbes: Aena $19 Billion Tender Results In Shake Up Of Spanish Airport Retail Market
Aena $19 Billion Tender Results In Shake Up Of Spanish Airport Retail Market
Spanish airports operator Aena has awarded four of its six concession packages for management of duty-free shops across the country's airports, with three going to incumbent Dufry and the fourth to Lagardère Travel Retail. However, the two airports with the highest passenger numbers -- Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat -- failed to attract any bids for their valuable duty-free concessions. Aena said it would re-tender these packages with the same financial terms and conditions, despite the risk of another failure. The move could put Barcelona and Madrid airports at risk of missing out on a combined $236m per year.

The American Spectator: Disney’s New Live-Action The Little Mermaid Is Just a Corrective for Past ‘Mistakes’
Disney’s New Live-Action The Little Mermaid Is Just a Corrective for Past ‘Mistakes’
The new live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is Disney's latest attempt at apologizing for the supposedly anti-feminist original movie, focusing on Ariel's pursuit of a man. While the changes aimed to make the story more feminist ended up robbing Ariel of her agency and purpose, making the film a soulless "correction."

Texas judge grants injunction in case that will impact how state history is taught in schools
The Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) has been halted from holding meetings until an internal dispute over board makeup is settled. J.P. Bryan, TSHA Executive Director has claimed that the board is in breach of its own bylaws by having a board of 12 academics and eight non-academics, instead of 10/10. Bryan’s restraining order was filed against TSHA President Nancy Baker Jones. The Board’s makeup has allegedly caused an unfair lean towards the left. Defendants counter-argued that non-Anglo communities were not being given enough representation in Texas history.

The Epoch Times: Retail Crime in New Zealand Remains Rampant Despite Government Measures
Retail Crime in New Zealand Remains Rampant Despite Government Measures
New Zealand small business owners are criticising the government's fog cannon security measures for retail crime, stating that they do not address the root issue. Fog cannons release a cloud of fog to hinder theft. However, owners claim burglaries, which often occur at night, require activation, and many fog cannons are unsophisticated in the event of a ram-raid. Prime Minister Chris Hipkins announced an additional $11 million in funding for the subsidy scheme, but some opposition members have called for tougher action against crime. The majority of retail crime is caused by youth offenders, with ram raid incidents jumping from 161 to 891 between 2020 and 2022, costing the country $1bn per year.

The Federalist Papers: Boy Pretending to Be a Girl Wins Girls' High School State Skiing Championship: 'It's Not Fair'
Boy Pretending to Be a Girl Wins Girls' High School State Skiing Championship: 'It's Not Fair'
A high school women's ski team in California was won by a transgender sophomore known as June Watterson. The father of a female member of the team expressed his outrage in an exclusive interview with the UK Daily Mail, stating officials and lawmakers allowing males who identify as girls to compete is a great injustice to young women. He added soon only men will be winning competitions. Since 2013, California has been following "Gender Identity Participation" rules, which allow any transgender student to compete in sports consistent with their gender identity. The father stated that merely introducing hormone therapy or re/deconstructions surgery will not change biological muscular and skeletal differences. Sport governing bodies are trying to find a solution, with some suggesting an open class in every sport.

Colorado Governor Offers DeSantis An Unorthodox NBA Finals Wager: Moving Disney World
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis challenged Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to a friendly bet on the NBA Finals, offering Disney World a new home in Colorado should the Nuggets defeat the Miami Heat. The tweet comes amid months-long tensions between Disney and DeSantis, who was sued by the company after government retaliation saw Disney stripped of its influence over a district governing Disney World's territory. A number of other states, including North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas, have also offered Disney a new home.

Stakeholders across America have captured the hydrogen vision and less than 10 hubs will be selected in the second half of 2023.
