The Epoch Times: US Debt Ceiling Deal Clears Crucial Hurdle Ahead of House Vote
The House Rules Committee passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the US debt ceiling agreement established by President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), with a vote of 7 to 6, enabling House lawmakers to vote on the bill. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) joined all four Democrats on the committee in voting against the deal. The debt limit agreement could reduce spending by more than $1 trillion over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office, and includes a rescission of unspent COVID-19 relief funds. The bill is set to add another $4 trillion to the national debt.

The common denominator seems to have always been life itself, or the ability to live a life of relative freedom in peace - and it looks very much like this is at risk.

Forbes: Aena $19 Billion Tender Results In Shake Up Of Spanish Airport Retail Market
Spanish airports operator Aena has awarded four of its six concession packages for management of duty-free shops across the country's airports, with three going to incumbent Dufry and the fourth to Lagardère Travel Retail. However, the two airports with the highest passenger numbers -- Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat -- failed to attract any bids for their valuable duty-free concessions. Aena said it would re-tender these packages with the same financial terms and conditions, despite the risk of another failure. The move could put Barcelona and Madrid airports at risk of missing out on a combined $236m per year.

However, owners claim burglaries, which often occur at night, require activation, and many fog cannons are unsophisticated in the event of a ram-raid. Prime Minister Chris Hipkins announced an additional $11 million in funding for the subsidy scheme, but some opposition members have called for tougher action against crime. The majority of retail crime is caused by youth offenders, with ram raid incidents jumping from 161 to 891 between 2020 and 2022, costing the country $1bn per year.

A man has been charged in the shooting death of Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell, a member of the hip hop group Run-DMC, more than 20 years ago. Jay Bryant is the third suspect to be indicted, with prosecutors alleging that all three men entered Mizell's Queens studio before the shooting. Bryant's DNA was found at the scene. He is already in custody on unrelated drug charges.

The father stated that merely introducing hormone therapy or re/deconstructions surgery will not change biological muscular and skeletal differences. Sport governing bodies are trying to find a solution, with some suggesting an open class in every sport.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis challenged Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to a friendly bet on the NBA Finals, offering Disney World a new home in Colorado should the Nuggets defeat the Miami Heat. The tweet comes amid months-long tensions between Disney and DeSantis, who was sued by the company after government retaliation saw Disney stripped of its influence over a district governing Disney World's territory.
