American Thinker: The Consequences of American Meritocracy in the Rearview
The author argues that immutable characteristics such as race, gender, and sexuality do not define us and have never been the basis of successful societies. While stereotypes have historically played a role in categorizing friend or foe, as humans evolve and gain more information, they become less important in decision-making. The author criticizes the modern Democratic Party for promoting the Victim Industrial Complex and replacing meritocracy with diversity and identity politics, which have no basis in creating a successful society.
Fox News: Biden, Cruz condemn Uganda law allowing death penalty for 'aggravated homosexuality'
President Biden and Senator Ted Cruz have condemned a new law in Uganda that allows for the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality." President Biden called for the repeal of the law and threatened punitive action, including potential sanctions, while Senator Cruz called the law "grotesque & an abomination." The White House said the law is part of an "alarming trend" of human rights abuses and corruption in Uganda.
Fox News: Demonstrators burn cars, police fire tear gas near Senegalese opposition leader's home
Opposition leader Ousmane Sonko faces rape and death threat charges ahead of next year’s presidential elections in Senegal. Tension erupted between Sonko’s supporters and police before a court verdict is delivered. Several cars were burned and police fired tear gas as Sonko’s caravan was stopped by police on an unauthorised journey from his home to the capital. The government has stated it will stand up to disrupting public order.
Red State: Can McCarthy Get His Debt Ceiling Deal Across the Finish Line?
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy faces pushback from House conservatives who are upset that a debt ceiling deal does not curb spending. The House Freedom Caucus is set to hold a press conference to blast the deal, making McCarthy’s prospects of getting the bill passed look bleak. However, House leadership and the Republican Party are pushing the deal as a win, and Democrats may rally with Biden’s blessing to pass the bill, which will then head to the Senate. The debt-ceiling agreement would suspend the borrowing limit for two years and curb government spending during that time. It also would extend limits on food assistance to some beneficiaries to prod them to find jobs and would speed up environmental reviews for energy projects.
Fox News: GOP leaders tout McCarthy-Biden deal as ‘conservative’ victory as Republicans defect
House Republican leaders have praised the bipartisan agreement between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden on the debt limit as a conservative win, despite opposition from the conservative House Freedom Caucus. Key conservative issues such as tax policy changes and increased pharmaceutical price setting are not included in the agreement, which instead features an 18-month increase in the debt ceiling and spending cuts. However, several Republicans have rejected the deal, and it is likely to face challenges in a Tuesday Rules Committee hearing before a House vote.
The final deal suspends the debt limit without a cap through 1 Jan, 2025. It also features spending cuts, caps on growth, and claws back some money for the Internal Revenue Service and unspent pandemic funds. While Conservatives have criticized the agreement for a lack of substantive policy reform and a significant increase in debt, House Republican leaders have focused on limiting spending, saving taxpayers money, and opportunities for economic growth and an improved workforce. The agreement faces differences of opinion among Republicans and tests in the Tuesday Rules Committee hearing and House vote.

The Epoch Times: Prime Minister Backs Gender Critical Professor's Oxford Talk Ahead of Student Protests
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has voiced support for feminist Kathleen Stock's right to deliver a speech at Oxford University's debating society following protests from the university's LGBTQ+ Society. Speaking to the Telegraph, Sunak said that universities should be environments where debate is allowed, not stifled, emphasizing the importance of free speech and the idea that students should be able to hear and debate opposing views. Prior to her appearance, a series of protests, including a Trans+ Pride event, will take place. The philosopher has faced accusations of transphobia, but her views were defended by over 40 of Oxford's dons in an open letter, while a group of academics and staff signed a letter supporting the right of transgender students to speak out against her.
Fox News: Thousands of Florida residents still recovering from Hurricane Ian as new storm season begins
Hundreds have been left homeless following Hurricane Ian's destruction of Florida's Fort Myers Beach. The Blaze: Kohl's faces potential 'Bud-lighting' over its LGBT agitprop targeting toddlers
Kohl's, the department store chain, is facing a potential boycott over its sale of LGBT clothing and other items. Concerned parents and conservatives are angry about Kohl's commitment to LGBT advocacy, including the sale of LGBT activist baby bibs and kitsch clothing like a 'Baby Sonoma Community Pride Bodysuit Set'. Kohl's also has a 'gender-free fashion brand' and an activist underwear brand called TomboyX, and has a perfect Corporate Equality Index score from the Human Rights Campaign. Conservatives are proposing a Kohl's boycott or what some online are referring to as 'Bud-lighting'.
The Epoch Times: Target Just Got Very Bad News | Facts Matter

Forbes: Charity Without The Welfare State
The current US welfare system is hurting self-sufficiency, family formation, and marriage due to high net marginal tax rates, which penalize low-wage workers and those who get married. Studies have found that removing income phaseouts for entitlement benefits could be a solution, but making benefits available to everyone regardless of income would be too expensive. However, if certain hospitals and clinics were designated as safety net institutions and care was made available regardless of income, more needy patients could be served, and bureaucratic paperwork could be avoided. Providing free breakfasts, lunches, and dinners at public schools or cafes could also be an alternative to food stamps, and homeless people could be given shelter through make-shift tents and cots.
The Epoch Times: Looking for the Good in People
Amidst all the negative news, it's easy to forget that kindness and compassion are the norm and violence is the exception. Small acts of kindness, as well as larger efforts to help strangers in need, prove this. To experience more kindness, we should make an effort to see the good in others and get to know them better. By finding a balance between valuing the energy and ideas of youth and respecting the wisdom of elders, we can create a friendlier world.

Breitbart: House Republicans Unite Around Debt Deal: ‘Strong Support Conference-Wide’
House Republicans are signaling support for a debt bill ahead of this week’s expected vote on it, indicating that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy could see well over a majority of the GOP vote in favor of it. The bill raises the debt ceiling through January 2025 and includes caps on discretionary spending for the next two years, staving off a potential default as early as June 5. Democrats had opposed giving any concessions in exchange for a debt ceiling hike. The House vote on the legislation is expected as early as Wednesday, and McCarthy will almost certainly need some Democrats to back the bill for it to pass.
Breitbart: GOP Rep. Roy: Debt Ceiling Deal 'Not a Deal We Should Be Taking'
Rep. Chip Roy criticized the debt ceiling deal and warned the US is heading towards unlimited debt. He urged his colleagues to stick to a responsible debt ceiling increase plan passed by the House earlier this year, suggesting they use COVID and IRS money to help Janet Yellen for breathing room instead.

American Thinker: The Decline and Fall of the American Empire
The United States is in danger of succumbing to the same fate as past empires due to the consistent and inevitable impact of human nature on the rise and fall of empires. Sir John Glubb's six stages of empire rise and fall, from the Age of Pioneers to the Age of Decadence, apply to the US. The country is currently in the Age of Decadence marked by debauchery, defensiveness, pessimism, materialism, a significant weakening of religion, frivolity, a welfare state, and a massive influx of unassimilated foreigners. This symptom is the end product of long periods of prosperity and power, self-obsession by the ruling elites, leading to a government's corruption and instability.
The Marxist controlled Democrat party has, over the past 20 years, created policies and actions that resemble the decline of great nations. They continue to pursue unchecked corruption in government and America's corporations and institutions, economic instability, and uncontrolled spending. Another four to eight years of Democrat Party rule will permanently embed all these and intensify the mainstreaming of decadence and sexual debauchery. The United States is facing an implacable and powerful external enemy, Communist China, which the country's elites essentially created by willfully intertwining the American economy with a ruthless and dictatorial communist regime. Republican primary voters must acknowledge reality and choose a leader with the coattails to assure the capture of both Houses of Congress to prevent the US from a new chapter in the annals of the decline and fall of great nations.
