Breitbart: India: Northern Manipur Christians Say Government Supporting Mob Violence Against Them
The Kuki tribe and other Christian tribes in Manipur, India, have been subjected to violent mob attacks orchestrated by members of the majority-Hindu Meitei tribe. Clashes initially erupted after some tribes protested against special privileges for the Meitei people. The Meitei now seek a “Scheduled Tribe” designation, which would give them more land rights and political powers. Members of the Kuki tribe have accused Prime Minister Modi of “tacitly” supporting the mob violence. Over 70 people are thought to have been killed, 200 injured and 40,000 displaced throughout Manipur. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah has now visited Manipur.

Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez is reviewing the mandate for CBC and its French-language service Radio-Canada to bolster funding and eliminate advertising during news shows. Rodriguez hinted that the proposed online news bill, currently being studied, could help. If the bill becomes law, news businesses are expected to receive over $300 million annually from digital platforms. CBC/Radio-Canada made nearly $420 million from TV and online ads in 2021-22. Private broadcasters have praised the bill as it could create a level playing field against tech giants such as Google and Meta. The Conservatives want to cut roughly $1 billion of annual funding CBC receives without defunding Radio-Canada.
