The Epoch Times: China-Led Lunar Research Organization Enables It to Obstruct US Operations on the Moon: Expert
China-Led Lunar Research Organization Enables It to Obstruct US Operations on the Moon: Expert
The China-led International Lunar Research Station organization (ILRS) aims to obstruct US and allied operations on the moon, according to the International Assessment and Strategy Center’s Rick Fisher. The ILRS, which aims to be a major scientific program, includes countries such as Brazil, Pakistan, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates. Fisher said the new alliance will rival the Artemis Accords, established under the Trump administration to set a framework for responsible space exploration. He added that both China and the US are competing for strategic positions and secure resource access, and conflict between them is inevitable.

Fisher emphasized that the US needs to maintain its announced schedule for going to the moon and ensure that China’s quest for earth hegemony is not extended to the moon. He pointed to recent reports from Microsoft and the Five Eyes alliance that stated a Chinese cyber espionage group has been targeting US critical infrastructure sectors, including in Guam, which is a major American military outpost in the Pacific. Fisher believes cyber attacks would be coordinated with kinetic and special operations attacks, and a China-initiated hostilities against Taiwan would immediately involve Guam.

Lula, a fierce ally of Venezuela's socialist regime under Hugo Chávez's rule, made restoration of Brazil's diplomatic ties with Venezuela a priority upon being elected for his third term. Brazilian lawmakers criticized Lula for his support of Maduro.
