The Epoch Times: Sen. McConnell Urges Senate to Pass McCarthy's Debt Deal
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called on the Senate to pass a debt deal to prevent the United States from defaulting. Despite some Republican opposition, President Joe Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy had announced the deal earlier. The House will vote on the legislation on June 2. Meanwhile, the pause on student loan payments that was enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic will end within 60 days of the bill being signed. The deal would halt the growth of nondefense spending in the 2024 fiscal year and slightly increase it the following year. The debt limit will also be suspended until January 2025.

Polish President Andrzej Duda is expected to sign a bill proposed by the ruling Law and Justice party that would create a commission to investigate Russian influence in Poland and impose ten-year bans on officials from positions that control spending public funds if found guilty of collusion with Russia. Critics have denounced the bill as unconstitutional and an attempt to target opponents of the Law and Justice party, including former Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Pro-democracy marches are planned in response to the bill.

Researchers have published a new peer-reviewed study on Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria (ROGD), based on the findings of a private meeting in 2018 of parents of adolescents and young adults suddenly presenting as gender dysphoric. The participants reported that their children had a high proportion of pre-existing mental health problems prior to their dysphoria. A consultation with a gender specialist was found to be the best predictor of transition, leading parents to feel they were pressured to transition their children. Finally, parents said their children's general functioning deteriorated after they socially transitioned. Gender ideologues criticised the study's methodology, leading to the study being suspended from the journal.

Climate activists disrupted the live dance performance of Olympic skier Charlotte Kalla during Sweden's Strictly Come Dancing final by storming the stage. The eco-warriors then released yellow paint powder and held up a banner for 'Restore Wetlands.' The activists were apprehended, and Kalla finished the dance with her partner. One of the former contestants of the show, who jumped in to protect the dancers, said he wished he intervened earlier given that Kalla was heavily pregnant. Since then, Poland has closed the border crossing in Bobrowniki, and Belarus has imposed restrictions preventing Polish carriers from using border crossings between Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia.

A beluga whale nicknamed "Hvaldimir," suspected of being a Russian-trained underwater spy in 2019, re-emerged near Sweden's southwestern coast on Sunday.
