Four States Send Troops, Cops to Support Texas Border Mission
Governors of four states have deployed police and military forces to support Texas Governor Greg Abbott's Operation Lone Star border security mission, in response to what they see as President Biden's open border policies. The states that have responded to Abbott's call for aid are Idaho, Florida, Nebraska, and Tennessee. Florida National Guard service members arrived in Texas over the weekend with drones, boats, two mobile command vehicles, and five fixed-wing aircraft with supporting crews, as 100 state troopers from Nebraska, Idaho State Police officers, and 100 members of the Tennessee National Guard joined the Lone Star effort.

Former Newfoundland and Labrador premier Brian Peckford has stressed the need for a united effort to restore democracy in Canada at the Reclaiming Canada Conference in Victoria. The conference aimed to "advance our freedom and to repair the damage stemming from political and societal dissonance”. Peckford advocated the importance of nation-state sovereignty and the need for politicians to be honest, publish annual statements and ensure the appointment of judges more accountable to the people they serve. Leading journalist, doctor, and legal professionals attended along with freedom activists, and B.C. Conservative Party leader John Rustad criticised political parties for avoiding transparency.

The 365 Belarusians will be barred from entering the Schengen area, including lawmakers, judges, prosecutors, and athletes. Belarus is on Poland's northeastern border and is led by authoritarian president, Alexander Lukashenko, who has held power since 1994.

Poland has sanctioned 365 Belarusians and frozen the assets of 36 Russian-linked entities over authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko's governments decision to uphold the eight-year prison sentence of a Polish-Belarusian journalist. Meanwhile, migrants were stuck at Poland's border wall with Belarus, with Polish authorities not allowing them in to request asylum.

Breitbart: Report: Taliban Threatens to 'Conquer' Iran After Border Shootout
Report: Taliban Threatens to 'Conquer' Iran After Border Shootout
The Taliban threatened to conquer Iran in a video featuring a top jihadist, after Iran accused the Taliban of limiting the flow of water from the Helmand River and causing major water shortages in border regions. Iran and the Taliban regime, which both acknowledge themselves as Taliban's official interim government, have enjoyed merely superficially friendly relations, while Iran's state-run newspaper PressTV quoted Iranian President Raisi as warning Taliban leaders to "immediately give the people their water rights" in May. The recent tension has resulted in an escalation of violence, leading to a fatal shootout between Iranian border guards and the Taliban group on the border between Nimroz, Afghanistan, and Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran. This border region has experienced decades of tension between both the nations over the limited water supply.

WHO's Claim of Health Problems Caused by Artificial Sweeteners Is Based on Weak Evidence
Artificial sweeteners might raise the risk of severe health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even mortality, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Despite 169 million Americans regularly using the sweeteners, analysis of 283 studies has found that they have minimal impact on body weight and fat and little effect on calorie intake. The recommendation applies to all non-nutritive sweeteners, whether synthetic, naturally occurring or modified, found in manufactured foods and beverages or sold for individual consumer use, and includes acesulfame K, aspartame, cyclamates, neotame, saccharin, sucralose, stevia and stevia derivatives. The WHO concluded their recommendation was “conditional” due to complicated patterns of use by study participants.

The Economist: The speech police are coming for social media
The speech police are coming for social media
- Politicians and judges are proposing regulatory proposals for social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Twitter, now under the management of Elon Musk, has restored previously banned users like Donald Trump. Social media platforms face a test in the next 18 months as America’s presidential election approaches. Politicians and judges are drawing new lines around the limits of speech with regulation proposals, but policing the online public square is a daunting task. The online speech debate is heating up globally, inspiring governments in less democratic parts of the world to write new rules of their own.
