Breitbart: Poll: Donald Trump Takes Double-Digit Lead Among California Republicans
Former President Donald Trump has taken a significant lead among California Republicans in the 2024 GOP primary race, according to a UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies survey. Trump is besting his closest potential challenger, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, by 18 points in the Golden State. Other declared candidates are considered in the survey as well, including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, but no one in the poll receives over four percent support besides Trump and DeSantis.
Trump’s boost among California Republicans came during a prolonged bout of bad press about the former president, including an indictment as well as a sexual-abuse trial involving E. Jean Carroll. Despite this, his support has increased and his image has gone up among Republicans. DeSantis, who has a slightly better favorability of 75 percent, experienced a four-point drop in the last three months, further suggesting that current trends favor the former president.
Fox News: Japanese PM's son resigns government post over executive residence partying scandal
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's son, Shotaro Kishida, resigned as his executive policy secretary following public outrage over a private party thrown at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. The Weekly Shukan Bunshun published photographs of the party, at which Shotaro Kishida and relatives posed on red-carpeted stairs in an imitation of group photos taken by newly appointed Cabinets, with his son at the center. Kishida acknowledged that he had briefly greeted guests but said he did not stay for the dinner party. He said his son will be replaced with another secretary, Takayoshi Yamamoto, on Thursday.
Prime Minister Kishida raised alarm over historic population decline in Japan and said it's "now or never" to reverse the trend. The appointment of his son as policy secretary, one of eight secretary posts for the prime minister, was criticized as nepotism, which is common in Japanese politics. This is not the first time Kishida's son has come under fire for making use of his official position for private activities, including using embassy cars for private sightseeing in Britain and Paris and buying souvenirs for Cabinet members at a luxury department store in London when he accompanied his father on trips.
Breitbart: Democrats Defend FBI Stonewalling Comer's Subpoenaed Informant File
Congressional Democrats defended the FBI's refusal to provide Congress a subpoenaed informant file allegedly linking President Biden to a bribery scheme. The unclassified document pertains to an arrangement between now-President Biden and a foreign national that allegedly involved an exchange of money for policy decisions. While the Justice Department did not confirm the document's existence, House Oversight Chair James Comer threatened to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress for failing to provide it. Democrats criticized Comer's efforts as an "assault" on the FBI, while Republicans saw it as proof that the DOJ and FBI were protecting the Bidens.

The Blaze: Uganda's president signs anti-gay legislation into law — includes death penalty for 'aggravated homosexuality'
Uganda's president signed a bill into law which imposes the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality" and allows for up to 14 years imprisonment for those convicted of attempting such acts. The legislation does not criminalize the identification as LGBTQ but does define "aggravated homosexuality" as sexual relations involving HIV-positive people and minors. Many in Uganda support the law, with Parliamentary Speaker Anita Among appreciating the president for "answering the cries of our people." However, the U.S. and human rights organizations have warned of economic consequences and systematic violations of LGBTQ people's rights. Homosexuality is already illegal under colonial-era laws in most African countries.

Flag And Cross: Biden, McCarthy Confident Final Debt Ceiling Deal Will Gain Momentum
President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have reached a tentative agreement to raise the country's debt ceiling, thus preventing a default on the U.S. debt. The deal also includes working hours for federal assistance programs such as SNAP. Bloomberg reported Biden's cabinet members made individual lobbying calls to at least 60 House Democrats, and the Treasury Department is expected to soon replenish its coffers by selling more than $1 trillion of bonds through the end of the third quarter. The agreement will raise the borrowing limit for two years and curb government spending during that time. The bill will now go to the House and Senate for final approval.
The Epoch Times: Protect Yourself Against Against Credit Card Fees
Late credit card payments can result in hefty fees, with issuers currently able to charge up to $30 for the first late payment and up to $41 for subsequent late payments within six months. However, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has proposed capping credit card late fees at $8 and limiting late fees to no more than 25% of the minimum payment owed. Late payments can also damage credit scores and trigger penalty annual percentage rates. Setting up automatic payments and reminders can help avoid missed payments.

Red State: Hey, LA Dodgers: The Fallen Soldier in My Family Was Catholic
On Memorial Day, we remember Staff Sergeant Bernie Sheehan who was killed in battle and awarded a Silver Star for his bravery. He was a Catholic, and the Los Angeles Dodgers' honoring of a hate group that mocks nuns, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, shows how Catholics are targeted. However, Catholic organizations, like St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Catholic schools such as Rockhurst, have provided significant charitable work and education. The significance of Catholicism in my family's military history cannot be separated from the service of our fallen troops.
