Daily Wire: Top Conservatives Slam McCarthy-Biden Agreement: ‘With Republicans Like These, Who Needs Democrats?’
Top Republicans criticized the bipartisan agreement between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to prevent the U.S. from defaulting on its debt. Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Ken Buck (R-CO), along with Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Ted Cruz (R-TX), expressed their dissatisfaction with the deal. They claim the agreement gives Democrats a blank check of approximately $4 trillion, maintains 2023 level spending with no cuts and includes no clawback of the $1.2 trillion "inflation reduction act" crony giveaways to elite leftists. They also state the deal allows Democrats to avoid policy riders in the fall and adds 87,000 new IRS agents to harass Americans, all in exchange for eliminating virtually ALL of the House's spending cuts.

Fox News: Activist urges 'multi-stakeholder strategy' as US Surgeon General sounds off on 'youth mental health crisis'
Social media is contributing to a mental health crisis among young people in America, according to U.S Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. He called for the technology industry, policymakers, researchers, and others to work together to protect children from online dangers. In response to his advisory, co-founder of the Log Off Movement Emma Lembke said the onus should fall on tech companies to protect children, but policymakers need to regulate the companies, which prioritize profit over safety. Lembke outlined three strategies to help children: establishing safeguards, increasing transparency, and empowering voices to build solutions.
Features like autoplay and endless scrolling are designed to keep young people hooked and rob them of their time, according to Lembke. She warned unchecked social media has become a "weapon of mass destruction" for young people, adding that the youth mental health crisis has only gotten worse. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of teenage girls feeling sad or hopeless has increased from 36% to 57% between 2011 and 2021. Lembke called for a multi-stakeholder strategy to protect kids online, emphasizing the need for tech companies and policymakers to take action.
