CNN's political commentator Ashley Allison claimed that work requirements are "offensive to poor people" and assumes that they "don't have the fight inside of them to work hard" during a segment about debt ceiling negotiations. Republicans argue against the Democrats' goal of creating a permanent underclass of Americans, while Democrats label work requirements offensive. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy defended the debt ceiling agreement despite backlash from Republicans opposed to concessions to President Biden, but the road to compromise is steep in Washington.
The Right Scoop: Debt *NO* Deal! Roy, Bishop, Buck, Boebert BASH Biden-McCarthy debt limit ‘INSANITY’
Republicans are unhappy with the 'agreement in principle' on the debt ceiling increase reached with Democrats, which includes $80 billion appropriated to the IRS and $1.9 billion rescinded, and no cuts to spending levels. Critics say it accepts bloated levels of spending and sets up a bipartisan betrayal come next year. Despite McCarthy's Sunday morning victory claims, conservative members of the GOP, including Roy and Boebert, are calling for better representation for their voters.

The Epoch Times: ANALYSIS: 'Forest to Farmland' Signals China's Return to a Planned Economy
China is reversing years of ecological “farmland to forest” policies and establishing a new “Rural Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Brigade” to expand arable land. The establishment of the brigade has raised the ire of farmers and the public for their thug-like tactics. Bulldozers have now torn up the renowned 100 km green belt around the southwestern city of Chengdu and landscapes are being replanted in wheat and corn, reversing the city's plan to turn itself into a “park city.” The movement reflects the CCP’s intention to regain control over the countryside and create planned food production, aimed at ‘stabilizing grain supply’ for economic reasons and as a key factor towards China’s food security ( ).

Red State: Space Buddies? FL Gov DeSantis Signs Bill Protecting Aero Companies Like Elon Musk's SpaceX From Liability
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that provides liability protections for public and private space companies operating in the state. The bill, known as CS/SB 1318, Spaceflight Entity Liability, provides immunity to spaceflight entities in certain circumstances, protecting them from liability in the event of injuries or deaths of participants or crew members during spaceflight activities. The law requires space companies to have crew members sign a waiver acknowledging the risks involved.
The new law continues to hold space companies liable for acts of gross negligence, willful disregard for safety, intentional injury to crew members, and prior knowledge of extraordinarily dangerous conditions. The bill not only offers new protections to Musk's SpaceX but also to others such as Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos. Despite recent successes, SpaceX faced a setback when their Starship rocket exploded in April. However, in light of the new legislation, SpaceX conducted a Friday launch of Falcon 9 from the SLC-40 site in Florida.
