Daily Wire: Rep. Dusty Johnson On Debt Ceiling Agreement: ‘A Big Get For Republicans’
Rep. Dusty Johnson On Debt Ceiling Agreement: ‘A Big Get For Republicans’
Republicans have reached a tentative debt ceiling agreement with Democrats that Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) believes is a “big get for Republicans,” as it cuts non-defense and non-VA spending and saves $1.5 trillion over the next ten years. The agreement also establishes caps at one percent for six years to slow spending growth. While some members of the House Freedom Caucus may be against it, Johnson believes that the overwhelming majority of conservative members support it, including the 75 pragmatic conservatives he leads in the Main Street Caucus.

The Epoch Times: Jeffries Noncommittal on Democrat Support for Debt Ceiling Deal
Jeffries Noncommittal on Democrat Support for Debt Ceiling Deal
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) remained noncommittal on whether Democrats would support a Republican and White House-negotiated debt ceiling deal. The proposed bill would suspend the debt ceiling until 2025 while capping non-defense spending at previous levels and enhancing work requirements for government assistance. The legislative text is expected to be released later today, and Jeffries said that Democrats would only support it once they've been fully briefed. Nevertheless, he applauded the deal for avoiding a "catastrophic default." The bill's support on the House floor remains unclear, with some progressive Democrats and Republicans criticizing it as a "surrender."

EU Issues Warning After Elon Musk Pulls Twitter Out of Anti-'Disinformation' Agreement
Twitter has exited the European Union's "Code of Practice" against disinformation, earning the ire of EU officials. The "Digital Services Act" (DSA) will require companies to adopt a code of conduct, share data with authorities and researchers, conduct independent audits, and do risk management by August. The 19 companies currently subject to the rules include Twitter, Google Maps, and Wikipedia. The DSA will also force these companies to target disinformation. Thierry Breton, the EU’s internal market commissioner, criticised Facebook's moderation system over its role in building opinions.

Fox News: Artificial intelligence model to help scientists predict whether breast cancer will spread
Artificial intelligence model to help scientists predict whether breast cancer will spread
British scientists have created an AI model to aid in the prediction of whether aggressive forms of breast cancer will spread based on changes in a patient’s lymph nodes. This could provide doctors with another tool to prevent the spread of secondary breast cancer. The researchers used AI to analyze the immune response in lymph nodes of women with triple-negative breast cancer, which they believe could predict the cancer cells’ spread. The AI model was tested on over 5,000 lymph nodes donated by 350 patients. Future tests will be carried out across Europe to develop AI-powered software for pathologists.

Texas High School Postpones Graduation When Only 5 Students Meet Graduation Requirements
Rural Texas high school postpones graduation ceremony due to majority of seniors failing to meet state-mandated graduation requirements. Only five out of 33 seniors met the criteria which include completing all state-mandated class credits, passing all end-of-course exams, and having at least 90% attendance per class period. The district had given failing students multiple chances to complete their requirements, and an additional 12 seniors became eligible since the graduation was delayed. Many parents expressed concerns about inadequate notification of ineligibility and discrepancies in communication from administrators.

Forbes: Los Angeles Lakers Not Likely To Acquire Kyrie Irving Through Sign-And-Trade: Report
Los Angeles Lakers Not Likely To Acquire Kyrie Irving Through Sign-And-Trade: Report
The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to acquire Kyrie Irving through a sign-and-trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks, as Dallas has no interest in trading their star point guard to the Lakers, even if Los Angeles pursues Irving. While the Lakers' interest in Irving has primarily been speculative, adding him would put the team in a cap-strapped situation that they were in during the Russell Westbrook era, preventing them from surrounding LeBron James and Anthony Davis with the proper role players needed to win a championship. Rather than going all-in on Irving, the Lakers should focus on re-signing key role players and finding possible trade suitors for D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade.
