Front Page Magazine: Philadelphia Dems Give a Jane Fonda-Endorsed Candidate the Boot
Helen Gym, a left-wing activist and city council member in Philadelphia, ran for mayor in the 2023 Democratic primary with the support of progressive celebrities like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Despite being a favorite among young voters and leading in some polls, she ultimately lost the primary and came in third with 22% of the vote. Many older Philadelphia Democrats strongly disliked Gym, viewing her as too extreme and focused on identity politics. In the end, Cherelle Parker, a moderate Democrat who opposed the movement to defund the police, won the primary.

Front Page Magazine: This Pride Stuff isn't Healthy
The author questions the concept of group pride, citing examples from his own life and cultural trends such as "black is beautiful" and "girl power." He argues that group pride is a characteristic of left-wing thought and is invariably accompanied by group shame. He posits that the LGBTQ movement's demand for celebration reveals its totalitarian nature and that Americans are not willing to celebrate everything. He concludes that one shouldn't take pride in things that were an accident of birth and that if you're not prepared to be ashamed of your group, don't take pride in it.

The American Spectator: Ron DeSantis Understands Memorial Day
Florida Governor and Iraq War veteran Ron DeSantis spoke at an event in Iowa about the importance of the sacrifices made by American military servicemen and women on Memorial Day weekend. DeSantis made the observation that although the grandeur of Washington D.C. could be seen from the left side of the plane as it approached Reagan Airport, the true monuments to freedom are Arlington Cemetery, visible on the right-hand side of the plane. DeSantis implies that the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution can only be protected by those who are willing to put on the uniform and risk their lives to serve their country.
The baby boomer generation failed to pass on the heroic values of their fathers, as they left their children to their own devices instead of encouraging them to watch great patriotic films that depicted courage and selflessness. Instead, they were raised amidst the woke lunacy that criticizes soldiers as dysfunctional. The author James Pierson emphasizes that Hollywood became Hollywoke and started criticizing soldiers as dysfunctional jerks, while directors such as John Ford, Frank Capra, George Stevens, and William Wyler used to create patriotic art. Hence, the upcoming generations lost the chance to appreciate that art to its fullest and were not made to realize the true motive of American soldiers.

The Blaze: 51 shot, 12 fatally in Chicago Memorial Day weekend shootings, 2-year-old girl shot herself after finding gun
Chicago had a violent Memorial Day weekend with at least 51 people shot and 12 killed, including a 2-year-old girl who shot herself with a gun she found. Despite dozens of "peacekeepers" patrolling the city, the gun violence continued with at least 39 people wounded in shootings around the city. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker had announced the Citywide Crisis Prevention and Response Unit (CPRU) to try to stop crime in Chicago streets, but the initiative seems to have failed.
