The Epoch Times: California's Homelessness Crisis: The Illusion of Government Spending
California's Homelessness Crisis: The Illusion of Government Spending
California's homeless population has become a full-blown humanitarian crisis, yet the more money the government spends, the worse the problem seems to get. According to a report by the state's Interagency Council on Homelessness, California spent almost $10bn between 2018 and 2021 servicing over 571,000 homeless people, with each year servicing more than the last. Despite such massive spending, the majority still remained homeless. There's been no method addressing how the state could spend the money more effectively, and efficiency is rarely the government's objective. We've made it vulnerable to corruption, gouging of taxpayer money by many players involved in the homeless industrial complex, which ill-serves the needy.

Lloyd’s Becomes Latest Firm to Exit UN’s Net-Zero Alliance
Lloyd's of London and five other major insurers have pulled out of the United Nations' Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA), which is designed to reduce insurers' carbon footprint by transitioning insurance and reinsurance underwriting portfolios to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Concerns over disputes regarding US net-zero initiatives and potential violations of antitrust laws are suspected to be the reasons behind their departure. Many insurance firms have actively embraced the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda, which includes strategies to promote gender equity and environmental protection. However, the push for ESG objectives risks focusing companies on targets that may affect their main priorities, including profitability.
