The Epoch Times: Red States Ramp up Police, Troops Deployments to US Southern Border
Red States Ramp up Police, Troops Deployments to US Southern Border
Republican-led states are sending National Guard troops and police officers to support the securing of parts of the southern border as border officials evaluate how the repeal of Title 42 impacts cross-border traffic. Several red state troops and police officers are heading to Texas, where Gov. Abbott has used the state’s National Guard and police resources to erect razor wire fences and other barriers along the border with Mexico. The deployment comes after Abbott's Mission to Control the Border letter received signatures from 24 Republican governors. It is still unclear if the end of Title 42 has resulted in a surge at the southern border.

Florida, Tennessee, and Nebraska all authorized the deployment of troops to the Mexican border alongside the 21 states that have already committed to doing so. Florida pledged to send 800 National Guard soldiers, 200 Department of Law Enforcement officers, and 20 Emergency Management personnel, among other resources. Lee authorized the Tennessee National Guard to send troops into the southern border, while Nebraska is sending a further 10 state troopers to help stop the influx of illegal immigration. It is unsure where the allocation of troops will lead, as it remains unclear whether the end of Title 42 has resulted in an increase in border crossings.

Maine woman brings raccoon to Petco for unconventional pet spa experience
A woman brought a wild raccoon into a Petco store in Maine to get its nails clipped, which is illegal and prompted officials to search for her. While waiting in the store, people held and even kissed the raccoon before the manager found out and asked her to leave. The raccoon was later tested negative for rabies, but authorities are still looking for the woman.
