Red State: BREAKING: WH, House Democrats Threaten to Blow up Debt Deal Over 'Work Requirements' Provision
The debt ceiling deal between President Biden and congressional Republicans faces challenges over GOP demands for work requirements in SNAP and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families programs. The White House has pushed back against the demands, citing how the requirements had no benefit for bringing people into the workforce. Republicans are unwilling to back down on the issue, creating a deepening divide between the two camps on the matter.
Fox News: AOC heckled, booed as NYC town hall descends into chaos
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faced a hostile crowd during a town hall in Queens where some participants were upset about her positions on immigration, Ukraine funding, and the debt limit. Some heckled and booed her, while her supporters shouted down the protesters. One man shouted "American citizens before migrants," and repeated a debunked claim that military veterans were being kicked out of New York City hotels to make room for migrants. Protesters also noted that the U.S. has provided billions in military aid to Ukraine, and pleaded with Ocasio-Cortez to stop funding the war.
Newsbusters: NewsBusters Podcast: Team Biden’s Nasty ‘Pyramid’ Scheme Against Conservatives
Biden's DHS is using "anti-terrorism" grants to fund "media literacy" warnings about conservatives, according to the Media Research Center. Grant recipients are smearing conservatives as fascists and Nazis. The grants have been awarded to public and private institutions, including the University of Dayton in Ohio which produced a wacky chart comparing conservatives to the Khmer Rouge.
Fox News: JESSE WATTERS: Ron DeSantis launches unconventional campaign, sets his sights on Trump's COVID response
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announces presidential run on Twitter with no video. It got buzz but missed an opportunity to show his face. DeSantis has raised over $8 million in 24 hours, a record. He is now doing a more traditional campaign approach and holding events in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. His sights are set on Trump and COVID might be a factor. He needs to make it relevant to 2024.

The Blaze: More Americans will blame Biden for a debt default than will blame Republicans, poll finds
The latest Fox News poll found that more Americans blame President Joe Biden for a potential credit default than congressional Republicans. 47% of Americans believe that Biden is responsible for a debt default, while only 44% say they would blame congressional Republicans. This is a reversal from the 2011 debt-ceiling fight when 47% of Americans blamed Republicans and only 32% blamed Barack Obama, who was president at the time. The poll also showed that 63% of Americans consider a default to be catastrophic, while only 32% thought the consequences were being exaggerated. Some Democrats have anonymously criticized Biden for his lack of leadership during negotiations. Negotiators are getting close to a deal that would raise the debt ceiling and allow for another two years of spending.

The Epoch Times: FDA Sounds Alarm on COVID Vaccines for Kids | Facts Matter
A new study funded by the government found that children aged 12 to 17 who took the Pfizer vaccine faced an increased risk of heart inflammation within a week of vaccination. The number of myocarditis and pericarditis events in this age group met the threshold for a "safety signal" as defined by the CDC, according to FDA researchers who conducted the study.
The Epoch Times: Bill to Legalize Psychedelic Mushrooms Advances in California Senate
California is halfway towards legalizing hallucinogenic mushrooms as the Senate clears Bill SB-58, allowing cultivation, transfer, and transportation of fungi and other plant-based materials for use in the drugs. Despite opposition from various groups, including law enforcement, the bill's author, Sen. Scott Wiener, said criminalizing drug use fills prisons with people who are addicted. San Francisco, Wiener's district, has seen rampant drug use contribute to widespread homelessness, which led the city to deprioritize arrests and investigations for possession of psychedelics in 2022. The bill would only allow plant-based drugs for those aged 21 and older.

The Epoch Times: Dollar Tree Faces Profit Decline as Theft Surges, Considers Defensive Measures
Dollar Tree is considering "defensive merchandising" to mitigate losses due to theft and declining profits. The company reported a 14-cent loss from "shrink" in the first quarter and expects the continuing impact of higher shrink and unfavorable consumables mix to result in approximately $0.55 per share in 2023. Dollar Tree CEO Richard Dreiling suggested solutions like "store closures" and said they were taking "all the appropriate steps" to mitigate theft, including working with law enforcement and implementing new technologies in stores. Major store chains like Lowes, Target, Foot Locker, CVS, and Walmart have already restricted access to certain items due to theft, with Target executives blaming the surge in theft for millions of dollars in losses in 2022.
