Cotton: 'Target Shouldn't Be Surprised They've Seen Millions of Dollars Drop Off Their Market Cap'
Sen. Tom Cotton criticized Target's business practices, stating that their alignment with a progressive agenda has led to a decrease in the company's value. He compared Target to Delta Air Lines, Coca-Cola, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, all of which faced similar issues. Cotton stated that Target's attempt to market trans clothing and other items directly to children is contrary to their claims and is not appreciated by parents.

PJ Media: 'Bipartisan' Anti-Trump Caucus in Congress Splits Over Partisan Attack on a Democratic Member
'Bipartisan' Anti-Trump Caucus in Congress Splits Over Partisan Attack on a Democratic Member
Donald Trump won the Republican nomination for president in 2016 due to a lack of opposition coalescing behind a viable alternative. The Problem Solvers Caucus, started by the No Labels Party seeking political unity, has proposed a "unity ticket" of a Democrat and Republican to challenge both Trump and Biden. However, some Democrats see a hidden agenda and believe it could make a Trump victory more probable. This internal spat shows that opposition to Trump is just as divided as it was in 2020, giving Trump an advantage in the general election.

The Epoch Times: 18-Year Prison Term a Predetermined Outcome of ‘Show Trial,’ Oath Keepers Leader Says
18-Year Prison Term a Predetermined Outcome of ‘Show Trial,’ Oath Keepers Leader Says
Elmer Stewart Rhodes III, founder of the Oath Keepers, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for seditious conspiracy and other charges related to the Capitol incursion on Jan. 6, 2021. Rhodes argued that Thomas Jefferson could be convicted of sedition if he were to express his views on liberty today, and that the seditious-conspiracy statute is unconstitutionally vague and could be used to prosecute any speech deemed "dangerous" by the government. He believes the statute is a shortcut to chilling and quashing unpopular free speech. Rhodes testified in his own defense that the Oath Keepers only went to Washington on Jan. 5 and 6 to provide event and VIP security at permit-approved events, and that he ordered all Oath Keepers to stay away from the Capitol when he learned of the violence.

SCOTUS on Taxes: Render Unto Caesar What is Caesar’s, But No More
The US Supreme Court ruled unanimously that it is unconstitutional for the government to take more money from a property seizure than is needed to satisfy unpaid property tax bills. The 9-0 opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, followed a case in which a 94-year-old grandmother moved out of her small condo and her local government transferred the title on the condo after she went two years without paying property taxes on the home. Her home was eventually sold for $40,000 to satisfy a $15,000 tax bill, with the county keeping the remaining $25,000. The Supreme Court said this constituted a violation of the Fifth Amendment clause and she was entitled to just compensation.

MSNBC's Scarborough: 'The Rotted Corpse' of GOP Is on an 'Eight-Year March Toward Fascism'
MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough says the Republican Party is on an "eight-year march toward fascism" after Florida governor Ron DeSantis praised Capitol rioters and said he would pardon some of them. Scarborough claims that Trump and DeSantis praise the seditionists and send a message that trying to overthrow the federal government while beating cops and destroying American democracy is okay. Scarborough concludes that the Republican Party is a "rotted corpse" following Trump into fascism.

The Blaze: New target acquired: Lauren Boebert calls for boycott against woke company The North Face
New target acquired: Lauren Boebert calls for boycott against woke company The North Face
Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado is calling for a boycott of The North Face due to their promotion of the LGBT movement. The company recently released a video featuring drag queen Pattie Gonia, marking their second straight year featuring the drag queen in a video. Boebert called for conservatives to target the clothing and gear company in retaliation, asserting that "America is not a nation of degenerates." The North Face's promotion of LGBT rights follows similar backlash that Target and Anheuser-Busch have experienced for their own promotion of the movement.

Charlie Kirk SLAMS Mediaite, The Young Turks for falsely accusing
him of inciting violence against Target
Charlie Kirk denies accusations of inciting violence against Target, stating that he is calling for a boycott of the company due to their release of a pride collection that includes trans-identified men's swimsuits. Kirk argues that his call for financial force to bankrupt Target is not violence, but a peaceful form of protest. He also accuses The Young Turks of spreading lies about him and threatens legal action if they do not retract their statement. The boycott against Target has already resulted in around $9 billion in losses.

The Canons of Friendship

Businesses Could Face New Pressure To Choose Sides In U.S.-China Competition — German Marshall Fund Scholar
Taiwan is recognized as a leading supplier of semiconductors, and a key technology hub. However, amid geopolitical and military risks with the US, mainland China, and Taiwan, Berkshire Hathaway recently bought and sold a stake in Taiwan chip industry leader, Taiwan Semiconductor Engineering due to geopolitical tension. These risks look set to continue as Bonnie Glaser, co-author of a new book published by the Brookings Institute, warns that "the United States and China as locked in an intense and prolonged strategic competition," and stresses that “businesses are facing a riskier environment. They are all looking for ways to reduce that risk.”

Commerce Leaders from US, China Fail to Find Common Ground
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo met with Chinese counterpart Wang Wentao in talks that failed to make any progress resolving disputes over technology, security, and trade. Both sides raised concerns but did not indicate any potential areas for cooperation. The meeting took place amid a wider crackdown on foreign businesses in China, with firms including Bain & Co., Capvision, and Mintz Group targeted by the CCP. Despite this, the Biden administration is continuing to seek diplomatic relations with China.

Breitbart: Nolte: There’s Only One Way Hollywood Can Save Its Streaming Services
Nolte: There’s Only One Way Hollywood Can Save Its Streaming Services
Hollywood streaming services suffer from "churn", where people cancel subscriptions due to lack of compelling content. This is a shortsighted excuse for an industry that ignores the importance of content. Cable TV survives due to unlimited content, despite its high cost and ads. To put an end to churn, streaming services should move cable TV content to streaming, dropping one episode per week like cable TV. Cable TV is the past, streaming is the future. Why watch both die when you can save one?

Beatrix Potter Accused of Stealing 'Peter Rabbit' Stories from 'Enslaved Africans Working on American Plantations'
Beatrix Potter, author of the Peter Rabbit books, is accused of appropriating Br'er Rabbit folktales told by enslaved Africans in America. Professor Emily Zobel Marshall of Leeds Beckett University claims that Potter deliberately hid the sources of her inspiration, and that this action has "fed into a damaging and recurring appropriation of Black cultural forms that continues today". Marshall asserts that Potter learnt of the tales through American journalist Joel Chandler Harris and that the tales of Peter Rabbit are really "about the resistance and survival tactics of the plantation life of enslaved people in the Americas."

The Epoch Times: Kirk Cameron to Release New Children's Book 'Pride Comes Before the Fall' During Pride Month
Kirk Cameron to Release New Children's Book 'Pride Comes Before the Fall' During Pride Month
Kirk Cameron's second children's book, "Pride Comes Before the Fall," teaches humility instead of pride. While the book does not specifically target LGBT ideology, Cameron sees its release at the beginning of Pride Month as "perfect timing" to push back against "woke" culture. He hopes the book will inspire a movement towards humility in a society where people are fixated on themselves and put their needs first. The book follows a tiger named Valor and an elephant named Kevin as they compete in the Great Raka Rapids race, and Valor's pride puts them in a tough spot, bringing home a lesson in humility and how winning is not everything.

Breitbart: 27 Attorneys General: Congress Must Act Against ATF Pistol Brace Rule
27 Attorneys General: Congress Must Act Against ATF Pistol Brace Rule
Twenty-seven Attorneys Generals have sent a letter to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy requesting Congress acts against the ATF’s AR-pistol stabilizer brace rule before it comes into effect on 1 June 2023. They claim that the pistol rule is an “egregious overreach” and that guns equipped with stabilizing braces are not short-barreled rifles requiring registration and tax requirements. The letter outlines their lawsuit against the rule, but implores Congress to vote on that resolution early enough to complete the Congressional Review Act process before the rule’s registration deadline. The House Judiciary Committee passed H.J. Res 44, which seeks to annul the said rule. The resolution is currently waiting for action before the full House.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is seeking permission from the Biden administration to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035. Several other states, including Massachusetts, New York, and Oregon, have adopted similar regulations to ban gas cars by 2035.
