Breitbart: China Mocks Ron DeSantis as 'Back-Up' Candidate in Case Trump Goes to Jail
China Mocks Ron DeSantis as 'Back-Up' Candidate in Case Trump Goes to Jail
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been dismissed as a "spare wheel" for the Republican Party by Chinese state propaganda outlet Global Times in the event that former President Donald Trump goes to jail. The report suggests that DeSantis mimics Trump's policies and serves as a "backup option" for the GOP if Trump cannot run for election next year due to his legal woes. The state publication derides DeSantis as "hawkish" on America's relationship with China, but not significantly discernable in policy from Trump. The outlet claims that all candidates will modify their political rhetoric to attack China during the elections.

Fox News: White House Correspondents' Association slams Biden admin for not holding briefings as default deadline looms
White House Correspondents' Association slams Biden admin for not holding briefings as default deadline looms
The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) has criticized the Biden administration for not holding press briefings before Memorial Day weekend and potentially leaving the public in the dark during a political crisis. WHCA President Tamara Keith said talks with the White House about weekend briefings were unsuccessful, but White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton claimed the briefing was just one way they share information with the press. The Treasury Department has extended the debt limit deadline from June 1 to June 5. Analysts say if default occurs, it could lead to economic turmoil.

A Fox News poll showed 83% of voters consider the current state of the economy to be fair or poor while Biden's approval rating has declined. Just 33% of voters approve of his handling of the economy, while 65% disapprove. According to the RealClearPolitics poll average, former President Trump leads Biden by 1.4 points in a hypothetical rematch for the presidency. Critics believe Biden's handling of the economy will be a significant factor in his reelection bid in 2024.

DOJ Charges 2 Suspected Chinese Agents for Targeting Falun Gong in the US
Two men have been charged with attempting to bribe a public official and manipulate the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Whistleblower Program to strip a Falun Gong-run entity of its tax-exempt status. The men were working under the direction of Chinese officials in a bribery campaign targeting the persecuted faith group. They planned to pay $50,000 to open an audit on the entity, with the Chinese “leadership” funding the illicit payments. The arrests have been described as the latest effort to confront transnational repression campaigns from the Chinese government. The FBI has vowed to continue confronting Chinese government efforts to violate US laws and repress the rights and freedoms of people in the country.

MSNBC’s O’Donnell Decries Roberts’s Decision to Protect SCOTUS
MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell criticized Chief Justice John Roberts for putting up security fencing around the Supreme Court after the Dobbs vs Jackson Women's Health Organization decision. O'Donnell implied that Roberts should have based his decisions on death penalty cases on Catholic Church's opposition to it. Roberts primarily put up the fencing as a safety measure against potential threats from leftist activists.

US residents federally charged with China-directed bribery scheme targeting spiritual practice banned in PRC
Two U.S. residents, John Chen and Lin Feng, were arrested in Los Angeles and charged with conspiring to bribe and bribing a public official, and conspiracy to commit money laundering in an effort to target people who participate in the spiritual practice of Falun Gong at the direction of China’s PRC government. Chen allegedly said in a recorded call that the PRC-funded bribes had the explicit aim of "toppl[ing] . . . the Falun Gong." The charges carry a maximum sentence of 5-20 years in prison.

CT: Democrat-Controlled House Votes to Add Grandfathered Guns to ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban
Connecticut's Democrat-run House votes to expand "assault weapons" ban, removing grandfather clause for previously exempted firearms and requiring registration by next May. "Ghost guns" will also need to be registered, and the ban also prohibits the open carry of firearms in the state.

Spectator USA: DeSantis the technocrat
DeSantis the technocrat
The GOP nomination battle between Trump and DeSantis is a struggle between two concepts of the New Right, with Trump’s MAGA populism pitted against DeSantis’s institutional culture war. DeSantis is a New Right technocrat who wants to use government to defuse institutions consumed by wokeness, whereas Trump is a populist who represents familiar American mold. DeSantis’s technocratic style, which delivered results in Florida, may prove to be his biggest weapon in the presidential race, but the demands of the campaign trail require a different approach.

Washington Free Beacon: NYC Democratic Councilman Under Fire for Anti-Italian Bigotry
NYC Democratic Councilman Under Fire for Anti-Italian Bigotry
Democratic member Chi Ossé of the NYC Council faced backlash for suggesting that a business with the surname "Dragonetti" should have been disqualified from city contracting. This was due to the business having to pay more than $1 million in restitution for insurance fraud last year. His comment was criticized by the council's Italian Caucus as being peddled with anti-Italian stereotypes.

Ossé argued that his comment had nothing to do with Italians and was based on the business’s tarnished reputation. However, the Italian Caucus disagreed, noting that Dragonetti Bros. Landscaping had won the contract before its fraudulent practices were uncovered, and Ossé’s comments came amidst a long history of anti-Italian biases. This has led to tensions in the NYC Council, where ethnic politics is a sensitive and controversial subject.

Breitbart: Oregon GOP Continues Walkout as Dems Push Abortion, Trans Bills
Oregon GOP Continues Walkout as Dems Push Abortion, Trans Bills
Oregon Senate Republicans are currently in a three-week walkout protesting legislation that would allow minors to have abortions and access transgender drugs and procedures without parental consent. The boycotters plan to return on June 25, the last day of the session to pass "bipartisan" budgets and bills. More than 100 bills are stalled because of the walkout. The bill at the center of the disagreement is HB 2002B, which also eliminates the crime of “concealing the birth of an infant” and allows minors to access sex-change hormones and procedures without parental consent.

Senate Minority Leader Tim Knopp accuses Senate President of the Oregon State Rob Wagner and his supporters of insisting on an unlawful and uncompromising agenda which “neither addresses nor alleviates the needs of our state”. Wagner states that all bills should be considered, and the GOP senators should return to the floor and debate the legislation they object to. All but three Senate Republicans appear to have disqualified themselves from running for another term under Measure 113, which prevents lawmakers with at least ten unexcused absences from being re-elected, and it is expected that Republicans will challenge the voter-approved measure in court.

Bozell to Charlie Kirk on Weaponized Biden DHS: ‘You’re Not Going to Believe This…’
Biden's Department of Homeland Security is using taxpayer dollars to target conservatives, Christians, and the Republican Party. MRC Free Speech America exposed a grant program that awarded $352,109 to the University of Dayton after it hosted an anti-conservative seminar featuring a self-proclaimed Antifa member. The seminar recklessly associated well-established conservative, Christian, and Republican organizations with neo-Nazis and hate groups. The speaker, Michael Loadenthal, is a member of Antifa and a supporter of the Earth Liberation Front, which the FBI designates as a domestic terrorist operation. It is illegal for the federal government to abridge citizens' right to speak, and there should be a criminal investigation.

Shapiro advises corporate brands to abstain from proselytizing on behalf of left wing ideologies and instead to simply sell their products. Shapiro indicates that The Daily Wire will be happy to take money from people who feel upset because of brands that promote left wing ideologies.

Texas Lawmakers Issue 20 Articles of Impeachment Against AG Ken Paxton
The Texas House General Investigating Committee has recommended the impeachment of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, citing misuse of official powers, bribery, and abuse of public trust, following several hours of testimony regarding his alleged wrongdoings. Paxton, who denies all accusations and referred to it as an "illegitimate attempt to overthrow the will of the people," now faces a vote by the House of Representatives on May 27. If the motion passes, the Senate will hold a trial to determine whether to remove him from office. The Republican lawmaker has also accused House Speaker Dade Phelan of being drunk while presiding over the House floor—a claim that Phelan has not responded to.

The American Mind: Why Won't Republicans Move On From Trump?
Why Won't Republicans Move On From Trump?
Many overlooked Americans continue to support Trump because they believe he is their champion against a corrupt and failed political system. They view him as someone who truly understands and cares about their struggles and is willing to fight for them, despite facing unprecedented opposition from the media and political establishment. While other candidates may have more polished campaigns and better fundraising records, they cannot match Trump's authenticity and ability to connect with everyday Americans. Despite his flaws, many of his supporters see him as their only hope for real change.

BLM-led riots that destroyed American cities
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is facing financial difficulties with an $8.5 million deficit last year. BLM protests marked the third-year anniversary of George Floyd's death. BLM has been ineffective in bringing down gun crime in black communities, which has surged to levels seen in the 1990s. The gun murder rate among black victims is the highest it has been in 30 years. Despite the financial difficulties, BLM leadership continued to give out seven-figure salaries and contracts to relatives of the founder Patrisse Cullors.

Major US Retailers Warn the Shoplifting Epidemic Keeps Getting Worse
Retail theft in the US is on the rise, with inventory losses reaching $100 billion in 2022 and expected to increase further. Social acceptance and reduced legal penalties have contributed to the problem, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic. Major retailers such as Foot Locker, Walmart, and Target have all reported significant losses due to retail theft, with Target estimating a $1.2 billion reduction in profits this year alone. The problem affects all consumers, leading to increased prices, job losses, and a negative impact on economic growth across the country.

The Epoch Times: G-7’s 'De-Risk, Not Decouple' Approach to China Is Three Pronged: Experts
G-7’s 'De-Risk, Not Decouple' Approach to China Is Three Pronged: Experts
The G7 summit has announced a "de-risk, not decouple" approach to China on economic issues with a commitment to building "constructive and stable relations" combined with reducing "excessive dependencies" on the country's Communist regime, yet at the same time tackling its non-market policies and practices that have affected the global economy. China has called for the G7 to deliver on their commitment not to decouple. The statement does say that China's people will be negatively affected, but that it was the actions of the Communist Party that led to these measures. However, Communist officials claim that the statement is an "anti-China workshop" and an urge for "confrontation between the camps".

The "de-risk, not decouple" approach towards China will have three aspects: Firstly, targeting high-tech research and development and the supply of precision semiconductors to isolate them from the Communist Party; secondly, restricting China's precision manufacturing and production of important raw materials, such as rare earths, and finding other sources of supply; and thirdly, production of consumer goods for the general market. Although the G-7 nations are focussed on cooperation with regards to consumer goods, it is expected that as the cost of land and labour in China continues to rise, these industries will naturally relocate to other countries. Although the CCP expressed anger about the G7 meeting, it is necessary for countries to take defensive measures to protect their democratic systems and national security against China's "malign practices".
