The American Mind: Why Won't Republicans Move On From Trump?
Why Won't Republicans Move On From Trump?
Many overlooked Americans continue to support Trump because they believe he is their champion against a corrupt and failed political system. They view him as someone who truly understands and cares about their struggles and is willing to fight for them, despite facing unprecedented opposition from the media and political establishment. While other candidates may have more polished campaigns and better fundraising records, they cannot match Trump's authenticity and ability to connect with everyday Americans. Despite his flaws, many of his supporters see him as their only hope for real change.

Virginia leftist prosecutors face reelection challenges amid criminal justice reform controversy
Three progressive reform prosecutors in northern Virginia are facing primary challenges from other Democrats next month. Observers have suggested that the results could indicate whether suburban voters still back criminal justice reform. Critics of the incumbents, who swept to power four years ago, have accused them of mismanagement. The challengers in the current races have avoided attack on the reform agenda, instead portraying themselves as equally reform-minded. The conciliatory approach could mean that victory for the challengers would be a warning signal for the Democrats.

Fox News: Judge halts South Carolina’s new stricter abortion law until state Supreme Court review
Judge halts South Carolina’s new stricter abortion law until state Supreme Court review
A judge in South Carolina has temporarily halted the state's new law prohibiting most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy until the Supreme Court can review the measure. The move offers a reprieve for providers and patients battling restrictive abortion measures in a region that has seen a surge of such limitations since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade almost a year ago. The lower court judge's ruling came a day after Governor Henry McMaster signed the bill. South Carolina's abortion clinics had seen a surge of cancelled appointments, with most of the patients further along than six weeks.

The 2021 law is similar to a six-week ban on abortion that lawmakers passed last year. The state Supreme Court had ruled that the earlier law violated the state constitution's right to privacy. The court's majority opinion said lawmakers had the authority to protect life but the state constitution's privacy clause ultimately gives women time to decide on an abortion. The new law is directed at one justice, John Few, who was part of the majority who struck down the earlier law. The South Carolina measure is similar to other strict limits to abortion pending in other southern states.

Detailed Five Eyes Notice on China's Cyber Attack Very Rare, Professor Says
Canada's cybersecurity experts have warned of a significant threat from a state-sponsored actor associated with China targeting critical infrastructure operators in the US. The warning by the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security and Canada's Five Eyes allies should be taken seriously, said cybersecurity expert Thomas Patrick Keenan, as an attack on one country can impact the infrastructure of another. In a blog post, Microsoft unveiled "Volt Typhoon," a Chinese state actor that focuses on espionage and information gathering, claiming the group has targeted critical infrastructure organizations in Guam and the United States using “living off the land” style of hacking that uses existing network tools and valid credentials to better avoid detection.

The Epoch Times: Atlantic Premiers Worried About Ottawa’s New Fuel Regulation’s Impact on Inflation
Atlantic Premiers Worried About Ottawa’s New Fuel Regulation’s Impact on Inflation
Atlantic Premiers are calling on the Canadian government to delay its fuel regulations, warning that the move will exacerbate rising inflation. The Clean Fuel Regulations aim to limit carbon intensity in gasoline and diesel, a key part of the government’s efforts towards net-zero emissions by 2050. Environment and Climate Change Canada estimates the regulations will hike gasoline prices by up to 17 cents and diesel prices by 16 cents by 2030, leading to an overall GDP reduction of 0.3% or CAD9bn. In a recent analysis, the Parliamentary Budget Officer described the regulations as "broadly regressive," having a greater impact on lower-income households; though Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault disputed these findings, arguing that refineries in the region are making significant profits and can upgrade their operations without passing on costs to customers.

Three simple exercises can help prevent degenerative knee pain, and acupuncture and massage therapy can also enhance knee recovery and reduce inflammation.

Over 300 COVID-19 Papers Withdrawn for Not Meeting Standards of Scientific Soundness
Over 330 research papers on COVID-19 have been retracted due to compromised ethical standards and concerns about scientific validity. While some articles were updated or removed for legitimate reasons, such as lack of informed consent or incorrect information, many were the result of researchers compromising ethical standards and rushing to publish. This has led to a concern about scientific rigor during the pandemic, with prestigious journals such as The Lancet even publishing articles that were later retracted. The vaccine researcher Gunnveig Grødeland suggests that the sudden influx of research on a topic that many people knew little about may have contributed to this problem.

Criminals Over Victims: Michigan GOP Blasts Dems’ Proposal To Give Most Violent Convicts Chance For Reduced Sentences
Democrats in Michigan have introduced legislation allowing felons to petition for reduced prison sentences, a move which would impact over 5,000 convicted murderers and nearly 2,000 sexual offenders. To be eligible, convicts would have to serve 10 years behind bars, after which a court would have 180 days to grant or deny a reduced sentence. Republicans have slammed the "second look" legislation, arguing that it prioritizes criminals over victims. Hall, the leader of the Republican opposition, is concerned that the proposal could repeatedly reopen cases, traumatizing the families of victims.
