The Epoch Times: Chirping Sounds Lead Airport Officials to Bag Filled With Smuggled Parrot Eggs
Twenty-four baby parrots, seized from a smuggler at Miami International Airport, are being raised by the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation. The parrots, natives of Central America, were snatched from their nests in a forest and had been placed in a sophisticated temperature-controlled cooler, hidden inside a carry-on bag. The baby parrots were incubated and successfully hatched during a "mad dash to save" them, according to Paul Reillo, director of the foundation. The birds had already survived a harrowing journey before being seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and now face the challenge of finding a permanent home as they can live up to 70 years or longer.

The Epoch Times: Expect Big Crowds for the Summer Travel Season—and Big Prices, Too
Amidst the unofficial start of the summer travel season, Americans are cautiously returning to air travel and bracing themselves for the stress and high costs associated with it. However, airlines have made improvements and are hoping to limit the number of flights to improve reliability and reduce delays.
The Epoch Times: 'Huge Income Shock' Predicted for Households on Fixed-Term Mortgage Deals
British households with fixed-term mortgage deals will feel the impact of higher interest rates when their current deals expire by the end of next year, warns the CEO of Barclay’s, CS Venkatakrishnan. This will lead to a “huge income shock,” as more of households’ earnings will be spent on mortgage payments. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), more than 1.4 million households in the UK face higher interest rate increases when they renew their fixed-rate mortgages in 2023. Market Volatility
As homeowners brokering new deals will face increased mortgage rates, they will have to spend more on mortgages, which will affect their overall consumption. Barclays CEO CS Venkatakrishnan says this is in addition to other inflationary factors such as food, energy and essential goods and services. The Bank of England may be pressured to raise interest rates in June as the current High Inflation Rate is at 8.7%, which stands in contrast to the government target of 2%. Britons are economising by reducing spending on non-essentials and substituting premium brands for generic ones. Mortgage rates soared last year due to market volatility and the the current government has pledged to limit these rates. Inflation is still high in the UK despite a drop in April, with consumers still facing rising food prices.

Forbes: Los Angeles Lakers Should Tread Carefully In Any Potential Move For Kyrie Irving
The Los Angeles Lakers are considering a blockbuster trade for Dallas Mavericks point guard, Kyrie Irving, but must proceed with caution. After another season of falling short of a championship, and LeBron James hinting at the possibility of retirement, the Lakers need to add a missing piece to their roster. However, a trade for Irving would be costly, and the Lakers must avoid sacrificing their core for the sake of adding another star. There are better, more cost-effective solutions out there, and while adding Irving may seem tempting, it could lead to more frustration for the Lakers.
