Ron DeSantis, Florida Governor, has signed a legislation bill to ban DEI programs at public universities, leading to criticism from ESPN's Stephen A. Smith who stated that DeSantis has "lost his damn mind." Smith called out DeSantis for alienating Latinos, Blacks, and women and claimed that the Governor wants to throw away any chance of being re-elected. The bill prevents state funding from paying for DEI programs and also grants university presidents more control over hiring practices. DeSantis has been vocal about his opposition to "woke" influences on education and has also signed legislation granting parents more authority over their children's education.

Nicolle Wallace Conspiracy-Mongers Trump/Saudi Classified Docs Connection
MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace insinuated on her show that Trump may have leaked classified documents to the Saudis in connection to their sponsoring a golf tournament at his New Jersey course. The theory was based on a Washington Post article reporting that Trump's Mar-a-Lago staffers moved papers the day before the FBI visited to retrieve classified documents. Wallace and her panelists, including former FBI agent Peter Strzok, offered no evidence to support the Saudi theory. This was flagrant conspiracy-mongering.

The conspiracy theory that Trump may have leaked classified documents to the Saudis in connection to their sponsoring a golf tournament at his New Jersey course was promulgated on MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace's show by Wallace and her panelists. They offered no evidence to support their Saudi theory. This was a case of promiscuously propagating ominous innuendo. Reportedly documents were removed from Mar-a-Lago the day before the FBI visited to retrieve classified documents. Strzok and Wallace's panelists questioned why Trump kept repeatedly breaking the law and allegedly maintained these highly classified documents.

The Corner: The GOP Isn’t Taking the 2024 Senate Primaries Lying Down
Republicans are taking steps to avoid campaign mistakes that resulted in lost Senate seats in 2022. The National Republican Senatorial Committee plans to intervene in party primaries, providing support to preferred candidates, while avoiding political entertainers and outside groups. The NRSC is “optimistic” about recruiting prospects in Montana and West Virginia, and has convinced Governor Jim Justice to take on Senator Joe Manchin, while the Pennsylvania GOP’s senatorial nominee is expected to be former hedge-fund CEO Dave McCormick. The party also hopes its strategy will be more palatable to voters in general elections, and may look similar to its successful approach in 2014.

North Dakota governor Doug Burgum plans to announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential race in Fargo on June 7. Burgum, a traditional conservative and successful former software businessman, is expected to focus on the economy and national security and will likely appeal to voters tired of the chaos of Trump. Despite being a long shot for the nomination, Burgum has a compelling personal story that could resonate with voters. He enters a crowded Republican field vying to take on President Joe Biden, who is seen as vulnerable amid economic headwinds and low approval ratings.

Negotiations continue between Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy ahead of the June 1st deadline to raise the debt ceiling.

Steve Forbes says Joe Biden will not be the Democratic nominee: 'They cannot have him running'
Steve Forbes predicts that the state of the economy will cost President Biden the 2024 Democratic nomination due to inflation, poor wages, and a feeling that the country is adrift. 83% of voters feel the economy is "only fair/poor." Almost half of American voters feel Biden's policies are hurting them.

Despite an aggressive interest-rate hike campaign by the Federal Reserve, inflation rose again in April, indicating that strong underlying price pressures continue to burden millions of Americans. Congress and the White House are engaged in negotiations over the national debt ceiling, with fears over the economic consequences of default or downgrade growing. Biden is struggling to maintain approval from the American public in light of the economic challenges.

The decision to finance an independent feature film may seem risky, but there are some potential benefits that may make it worth considering. Investing in a movie can provide bragging rights and memorable experiences, as well as credits that may add credibility to future projects. In addition, cost-saving measures can result in more production value for the dollar, increasing the chances of repayment from the investment. However, it's important to remember that passion often outweighs rational thought when it comes to investing in a film, and investors should be prepared for unexpected challenges.

Killer whales have been attacking boats off the coast of Spain for several years, with the latest incident recorded on a yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar. The Atlantic Orca Working Group has found that a small group of around 35 Iberian orcas have been targeting boats as they pursue red tuna in waters near the western coast of the Iberian Peninsula, with no known cases of attacks on swimmers. The incidents are puzzling and rare, even enticingly odd, according to biologist Alfredo López. While 13 of the individual whales involved are young, supporting the hypothesis that they are playing, and two are adult, Lopez suggested that the "orca culture" transmits information to others may explain the odd behavior .

Roads in the area have been shut down, and emergency crews are already stretched thin in response to the flooding. The National Weather Service has advised motorists to not try to drive around barricades or through flooded areas and to find another route over higher ground if necessary.
