The Epoch Times: Russia, China Seal Economic Pacts Amid Western Criticism
Russia, China Seal Economic Pacts Amid Western Criticism
Russian Prime Minister Mishustin signed a number of economic agreements with China, marking a "record high" in their relationship. Russia is looking to China more and more for support in light of Western sanctions as the war in Ukraine continues. China's increased cooperation with Russia is due to new opportunities presented by Western sanctions against Russia. The two countries signed agreements on investment cooperation, export of agricultural products, and sports cooperation. Experts say that the focus on deepening economic ties is strategic for Russia, and while China has promoted a peace plan for Ukraine, it has refrained from openly denouncing Russia's invasion.

The Epoch Times: Cars Are Getting More Expensive—Here's How to Keep Yours on the Road Longer to Avoid Costly Payents
Cars Are Getting More Expensive—Here's How to Keep Yours on the Road Longer to Avoid Costly Payents
The average age of vehicles on US roads has hit a record 12.5 years, due to the high cost of new and used vehicles and the difficulty of buying a new car because of the computer chip shortages and rising interest rates. The cost of a new car has reached nearly $48,000 and that of a used car is nearly $29,000. The Federal Reserve has raised monthly payments significantly, with new vehicle loans averaging around 7%. The best way to avoid high prices and heavy monthly payments is to do regular maintenance, change oil regularly, buy gasoline with a “Top Tier” sticker, keep the car clean and pay attention to your car’s warnings.

Kafka Comes to College
Ohio Northern University law professor Scott Gerber was removed from his classroom and banned from campus for insufficient “collegiality,” due to a lack of compliance with the school’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which implement social justice revenge. Gerber had objected to DEI in newspaper op-eds, TV interviews, and a faculty governance body meeting. The administration replied bluntly that diversity of viewpoints “is not part of our diversity, belonging and inclusion plan.” ONU has launched an investigation into Gerber but refused to supply him or his lawyers with any specifics. A GoFundMe page and legal assistance from FIRE have been created in Gerber's support, and Harvard Law school professor Randall Kennedy composed a letter signed by over fifty professors. Peter Wood, President of the National Association of Scholars, sent a letter in defense of Gerber to ONU's President Baumann, stating that Gerber's treatment was "abuse of process."

Fox News: Tom Hanks gives Harvard commencement speech, tells grads to defend truth: 'The responsibility is yours'
Tom Hanks gives Harvard commencement speech, tells grads to defend truth: 'The responsibility is yours'
Tom Hanks calls for the fight for truth and standing up to those who oppose it in his commencement speech at Harvard University. He emphasizes that it is important to embrace liberty and to be one of three types of Americans - those who embrace liberty for all, those who won't, or those who are indifferent. Hanks also adds that being in the fight over truth is not fair, but encourages the graduates not to be embittered by the fact. The fight requires rigorous attention and unfading wherewithal and is in the construction of a "more perfect union". However, Hanks adds that no one person can make a difference alone, and in order to create a more just and equitable society, we need an all-hands-on-deck approach.

Georgia teens involved in high-speed chase after allegedly stealing Hyundai car using USB cord: Police
Two juveniles stole a Hyundai Elantra using a USB cord and led Georgia deputies on a high speed chase, reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. The increase in car thefts in the Atlanta area is due to viral social media videos teaching people how to start the cars with USB cables and exploit a security vulnerability in some of Hyundai and Kia vehicles sold in the U.S. without engine immobilizers.

Front Page Magazine: AI is the Illusion of a Soulless Society
AI is the Illusion of a Soulless Society
Frictionless technology promises to simplify reality, but its accomplishments hide ugly realities, from exploiting third-world labor to automating culture and art. Generative AI is not an omnipotent intelligence: it relies on low-paid workers, and it can only produce work that mimics the rote work that people allow their jobs to be driven by, rather than a creative soul. AI is not a threat, but a symptom of a soulless society that has forgotten the value of art and labor's striving impulses. Progressivism relies on the illusion of a glorious future, but the frictionless promise is the end of our humanity.

Breitbart: GOP Demands Answers About Increased Fees for Veterans Volunteers
GOP Demands Answers About Increased Fees for Veterans Volunteers
House Republicans, led by Rep. Ryan Zinke, have written a letter demanding answers from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority regarding its decision to remove fee-free parking access for Veterans Service Organizations (VSO) volunteers who assist veterans at Reagan Washington National Airport. The volunteers help to ensure arriving/departing veterans are safe and make it to their respective memorials on time. Zinke called the decision "distressing, mind boggling, and frankly un-American" and a bipartisan piece of legislation designed to expand mental health care for veterans was also introduced the same week.
