In response, one of China’s Communist Party mouthpieces accused Western governments of spreading lies.

UVeye, a new vehicle inspection system that uses artificial intelligence to perform multi-point inspections in seconds, is being hailed as "an MRI for your car." The technology, originally developed in Israel as a security system to scan vehicles for explosives, uses computer vision and deep learning to expand its capabilities to identify issues such as broken components, missing parts, scratches, oil leaks, and even tire tread depth. It covers 70% of a standard inspection, issues a report within three to 10 seconds of scanning at up to 20 mph, and has proven to be 95% accurate. UVeye is being marketed toward retail service centers, wholesale car auction companies, and fleet managers for a subscription cost of $3,500 to $6,000 per month. It is expected to be mass-produced at a new facility in Indianapolis backed by a $100 million funding round that included General Motors and CarMax.
