Red State: House Democrats Extremely Frustrated, Don't Like What They're Hearing on Debt Ceiling Negotiations
House Democrats are divided on the debt ceiling negotiations between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Several parts of the Democratic Caucus have different complaints including progressives who don’t want any cuts and moderates who don’t want work requirements. Swing district Democrats don’t want to cause any disruption in a potentially bad electoral year. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is fielding all the complaints and getting very little from the White House who should not assume that Democrats will back any Biden-McCarthy deal. Tougher work requirements for social-welfare programs is the most sensitive issue for many Democrats.
American Thinker: Liz Cheney's pious intonations about J6 smacked down as flamin' hot hypocrisy
Former congresswoman Liz Cheney criticizes presidential candidate Ron DeSantis for stating he would consider pardoning some January 6 defendants if elected. Cheney claims that any candidate who makes such a promise is not qualified to be president. Cheney's comments elicited responses from the left, including that anybody who would not bring Cheney's father to trial in The Hague is more problematic. Cheney's track record as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs working with John Bolton, who took up his position as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security in 2001, contradicts her stance. While serving with Bolton, a key area of his responsibility was to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Bolton negotiated "Article 98" agreements with countries to prevent them from allowing Americans to be handed over to the International Criminal Court. Cheney worked alongside Bolton and aligned with him against indictments in The Hague of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for war crimes against humanity in Afghanistan. Cheney's support for politicized justice against the Jan. 6 defendants exposes her as a hypocrite. Cheney's stance contradicts her efforts to prevent indictments in The Hague against Cheney's father, Bush, and herself.
The Epoch Times: Oprah Responds to Rumors She Could Take Feinstein's Senate Seat
Oprah Winfrey denies that she will replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein in California if Feinstein steps down before her term ends in 2024. The rumors emerged but a spokesperson for Oprah said, “Oprah Winfrey is not considering the seat should it become vacant”. California Gov. Gavin Newsom could appoint someone if Feinstein resigns, but many have demanded he chooses a black woman for the job. Feinstein’s mental acuity is also being called into question as she requires a lighter working schedule after fighting a shingles infection, and after certain slip-ups, her effectiveness as a senator has been scrutinized.
National Review: The Corner: NBC News: ‘House Republicans Have Won the Messaging War’ on the Debt Ceiling
Republicans are winning the messaging war on the debt-ceiling debate, with more voters blaming Biden than congressional Republicans for default. Democrats' strategy of attacking the GOP for wanting work requirements for federal benefits and spending cuts is not resonating with the public. This puts Biden at risk of losing a messaging war during his reelection campaign .

Target's market capitalization has fallen from $70.4 billion to $63.9 billion in response. Cornell defended the company's diversity initiatives, emphasizing the benefits to both business and society, and efforts to hire females and members of racial minorities to leadership positions. Target executives reportedly instructed leadership to make their "Pride Month" displays less prominent in response to the backlash.

The Epoch Times: G-7 Statement on China Just 'Lip Service': Former US Official
The G7 summit's plan to address the rise in economic coercion by China has been dismissed as "lip service" by former deputy national security adviser at the White House, Steve Yates. While the statement emphasised reducing risk, the leaders agreed on deploying "a common set of tools" to tackle economic coercion from the Chinese regime. However, Yates argued that there was no unity among the G-7 on China, shining light on France and Germany's continued engagement with China. Yates urged the US to work with its Pacific allies to counter the growing Chinese influence in the region and compete with China's strategic power play.

Breitbart: No, Grazie: Italy Leads Revolt Against EU Push for Electric Vehicles
Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is opposing European Union (EU) plans to ban new cars powered by fossil fuels by 2035, fearing the loss of jobs in the automotive industry. Meloni's coalition government has urged the EU to allow vehicles using traditional fuels or biofuels alongside electric cars. The Italian government has now directly opposed the "Euro 7" standards on pollutants and joined seven other EU member states to demand Brussels scrap the new limits. The lack of infrastructure to support electric cars, such as a shortage of electric charging stations, has resulted in a lack of enthusiasm for electric cars in Italy.
Fox News: Alabama’s grocery sale tax may be cut in half under bill approved by the state House
Alabama lawmakers have moved to remove half of the state’s 4% sale tax on groceries, which will be done gradually by one percentage point a year. Other attempts to cut the tax had failed as it provided more than $600m of education funding. However, broad bipartisan support for the measure came in the face of rising food prices and a rare budget surplus. Though the measure has widespread support, some groups have expressed concern about a loss of revenue for the state education budget. The bill now moves to the Alabama Senate, where every senator has signed on in support of similar legislation.

The Epoch Times: NIH Spends $1 Billion Studying Long COVID–Produces Nothing
NIH received $1.15 billion to research long COVID symptoms, but an investigation by STAT and MuckRock revealed that the agency has accomplished very little. Instead of conducting trials to find a cure for long COVID, NIH has spent most of the money watching, tracking, and recording long COVID symptoms, and even chose to study an antiviral medicine that causes COVID rebound. The agency has also failed to share basic information about its research, and there is no single NIH official responsible for leading the initiative. Patients with long COVID continue to suffer from incapacitating symptoms while feeling ignored and abandoned by the medical community and society at large.
The Epoch Times: US Drug Overdose Deaths Exceeded 100,000 in 2022: CDC
Over 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2022, with reported numbers decreasing by 2% from the previous year but adjusting to an increase of 0.5% after delayed reporting. The largest increase in overdose deaths occurred in Washington and Wyoming, with South Dakota experiencing the biggest percentage decrease. Deaths associated with opioids, including fentanyl, continue to surge with predicted numbers reaching nearly 83,000 in 2022. The rising death toll has been linked to the influx of drugs brought over the southern US border by cartels. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives passed the Halt All Lethal Trafficking bill.

Forbes: Flores Scheme Will Drive Vikings Defense Up The Ladder In 2023
The Minnesota Vikings are employing Brian Flores as defensive coordinator to create a team that attacks offense instead of reacting to it. The new defense embodies movement before the snap, keeping opposing quarterbacks and offensive coordinators guessing and creating confusion. Alongside a changed scheme, injured safety Lewis Cine is set to return and has an opportunity to take on a leadership role and bring an athletically and physically dominant style. Overall, the Vikings have championship aspirations and the defense will have to overperform compared to the past three years, and free agent additions and superior coaching may hold the key.
