'If They Choose to Test My Resolve, I'll Make It Easy for Them,' NV Gov Lombardo Isn't Backing Down Over State Budget
Gov. Joe Lombardo of Nevada has said he will veto any of the five budget bills submitted by the state's Democratic-majority legislature if his priorities are not addressed. The governor announced his Day One Priorities as including a "fiscally responsible budget," school safety, school choice and accountability, government efficiency, and crime reduction. Though some policy bills are being withheld, the budget remains the key issue for the state's functioning. If it is not passed by the time the legislative session ends on June 5, lawmakers will be required to attend a special session later that month to discuss funding for state services before the new fiscal year's start on July 1.

The Epoch Times: Alberta Premier Contenders Announce First Pieces of Planned Legislation If Elected
Alberta Premier Contenders Announce First Pieces of Planned Legislation If Elected
Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley has pledged to enact her party’s Bill 1 if elected to power: an act aimed at capping power bills and car insurance, freezing tuition, and providing much less expensive $10 per day childcare. The party leader said the legislation could save the majority of Albertans a total of almost $1k. In addition, the NDP would repeal the Sovereignty Act, claim they will eliminate small business tax, re-index and raise senior benefits, and offer a $500 tax credit for children’s extracurricular activities. United Conservative Party (UCP) leader Danielle Smith, meanwhile, announced that a re-elected UCP government would introduce a Taxpayer Protection Amendment to stop governments raising corporate or personal income tax without first conducting a referendum. The proposed change would reduce income taxes for households earning less than $60k annually by 20%, and for higher earners earn $760 for an individual and $1,520 per family.

South Carolina Governor Signs 6-Week Abortion Restriction
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster signed a bill on Thursday restricting abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. The Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act protects unborn babies by limiting abortions after a fetal heartbeat has been detected, with exceptions for rape or incest during the first twelve weeks of pregnancy, medical emergencies, or fatal fetal anomalies. Doctors in the state who do not comply with the law could face felony charges punishable by two years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic filed a lawsuit, along with Greenville Women’s Clinic and two physicians, asking a state court to block the law.

The Right Scoop: Trump releases video today lying about DeSantis and COVID deaths – > > Here’s the facts!
Trump releases video today lying about DeSantis and COVID deaths – > > Here’s the facts!
Trump falsely claims DeSantis had 3rd most COVID deaths in US and compares him to Cuomo. But DeSantis actually falls to 18th when adjusting for per capita deaths and Cuomo tried to hide nursing home deaths for political gain. Trump also lies about DeSantis shutting down beaches. This tactic is similar to what Democrats did to him and is not a good look.

The Federalist Papers: Former Anheuser-Busch Exec Comes Out Bearing Bad News for Bud Light's Future
Former Anheuser-Busch Exec Comes Out Bearing Bad News for Bud Light's Future
Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light is experiencing backlash following its support of the controversial transgender movement. The company printed the face of a trans influencer on a can of its beer and focused more on diversity than job competency. Sales have dropped by almost a quarter and the company risks losing long-time customers. The beer company's former president of sales and distribution predicts difficult times ahead and the possibility that sales will continue to decline. Ultimately, Anheuser-Busch forgot what put it on top of the beer world and kept it there, focusing too much on woke executives and questionable values, resulting in a train wreck that was waiting to happen.

Louisiana Republican Shuts Down Bill Prohibiting Trans Surgery for Children
Louisiana state senator Fred Mills, a Republican, colluded with Democrats to block a bill banning transgender surgeries for children. Critics point out that Mills has received sizeable donations from Big Pharma who profit from such surgeries. He has since been attacked by his own party members. The bill bars hormone blockers, prescription or administration of testosterone/estrogen/progesterone, and gender-affirming surgery. Similar restrictions are now in place in other Republican states.

Report: Chinese Hackers Attacked Kenya as Belt and Road Debts Grew
Chinese hackers launched a cyber-espionage campaign against the Kenyan government for three years, starting after Kenya received loans from Chinese banks for Belt and Road Initiative infrastructure projects. The hackers targeted key ministries and institutions, including the presidential office and an email server used by Kenya's main intelligence agency. One defense contracting firm report accuses China of spying on Kenya because the country is struggling with payments on $160 billion in BRI loans, whilst others cite China's interest in gaining information on debt owed to Beijing by Kenya.

Fox News: No debt ceiling agreement as White House, Republicans eye specific cuts, including IRS funding: Reports
No debt ceiling agreement as White House, Republicans eye specific cuts, including IRS funding: Reports
Republicans and the Biden administration are coming closer to reaching a debt limit deal that would include an increase in the limit for two years and a cap on non-defense and veteran-related federal spending. The deal would also reduce the controversial $80 billion Congress approved for the IRS last year, and spending on the military and veteran-related care would increase next year. However, sources familiar with the talks say that they have not agreed on any top-line items or on a one or two-year extension of the debt limit.

Lawmakers are currently negotiating a budget deal to raise the debt ceiling and avoid defaulting on the country's debt for the first time in history. The deadline for reaching a deal is June 1, and while President Biden and Republicans have agreed that the US will not default on its debt, a budget deal must be made before any progress can be made. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy was contacted by Fox News for comment but has not yet responded.

Minnesota Governor Vetoes Rideshare Minimum Pay Bill After Uber Threat
Uber threatened to leave the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area if a proposed bill requiring a minimum wage for rideshare drivers was signed into law, thereby providing only its "premium services" in the Twin Cities metro area, starting Aug. 1. Despite passing the Democratic-controlled state legislature over the weekend on party-line votes, Democratic Gov. Tim Walz vetoed the measure, which required that drivers for Uber and Lyft be paid a minimum of $5 per ride, or at least $1.45 per mile and at least 34 cents per minute. Walz's office said the governor has issued an executive order to commission a study on the topic to help form better legislation in the future.

Planned Parenthood to Lay Off 10 to 20 Percent of National Workforce
Planned Parenthood is reportedly laying off 10 to 20 percent of its national workforce, representing at least 80 people, as part of an effort to restructure the organization’s national office and to shift the focus on assisting local affiliates due to shifting legal landscape, after more than a dozen states passed pro-life laws protecting unborn babies following the Dobbs decision in June 2022. The organization will invest $70 million in its affiliates, expand telehealth services, and invest in national elections and race-related initiatives. Union officials representing Planned Parenthood employees expressed dismay in a joint statement and have said that Planned Parenthood leaders are “pushing out some of our movement’s brightest minds.
