Most people arriving were non-EU nationals, followed by EU and British citizens. Immigration reduction campaigners have described the government's claim to be controlling immigration as "laughable". The rise in arrivals from outside the EU and elsewhere, including those from Ukraine and Hong Kong, highlights the Conservative Party's failure to meet promises to cut immigration, including those made during the Brexit campaign.

He'd published the first Twitter Files about government abuses, revealing it coordinated to censor and coerce speech on social media. Taibbi and his accountant never got the "purported letters," constructing the appearance of some political motivation or an attempt to intimidate future journalists looking at such material.
The IRS claimed they were looking into Taibbi’s 2018 tax return to ensure no identity fraud, yet there was none, and he was even entitled to a substantial refund. Jordan, House Judiciary Committee Chair, demanded more records and communications by June 7th. The IRS had no reason to open a tax examination without Taibbi owing taxes. It appears Taibbi was the victim of possible intimidation by bad actors trying to suppress news and free speech ahead of Taibbi's scheduled appearance before Congress. It suggests a deeper problem within government agencies to manipulate journalists.
