Fox News: University program linking Christians, Republicans to Nazis granted DHS funds under 'anti-terror' initiative
The Biden administration is funding a university program under an anti-terrorism grant initiative specifically meant to target Republicans, Christian, and conservative groups, equating them with Nazis, according to documents obtained by the conservative watchdog group, the Media Research Center. The program in question, DHS's Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program (TVTP), has awarded 80 grants worth nearly $40 million in total. Grant recipients are prohibited from engaging in viewpoint discrimination, according to DHS.
One of the TVTP grantees is the University of Dayton, which received $352,109 to fight "domestic violence extremism and hate movements" through its PREVENTS-OH program. The university’s grant application linked to a controversial Dayton conference where an academic researcher presented a chart titled "Pyramid of Far-Right Radicalization," essentially equating the Republican Party, conservative groups, and Christian organizations with Nazis and white supremacists. The university has since distanced itself from the conference and called it separate from the PREVENTS-OH program, while DHS has denied endorsing or funding the conference.
Daily Wire: Will Elon Musk Break The Legacy Media Stranglehold?
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announces his 2024 presidential candidacy on Twitter Spaces with co-host Elon Musk, bypassing legacy media outlets. DeSantis has no trust in legacy media to edit him fairly or ask decent questions. The legacy media now pushes a bottomless well of lies about DeSantis while targeting Musk and Twitter.
The Epoch Times: COVID-19 Inquiry Requests Boris Johnson’s Unredacted WhatsApp Texts, Diary Entries
The COVID-19 Inquiry has asked for unredacted WhatsApp messages and diary entries from former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson related to his government's response to the pandemic. Johnson's diary and messages were deemed "of potential relevance" to the inquiry's investigation into the UK's handling of the pandemic. The Cabinet Office argued that the inquiry did not have the power to access all the data requested, but the inquiry dismissed that assertion. The COVID-19 Inquiry was set up in May 2021 to examine the UK's response to the pandemic.
Fox News: DeSantis to hold ‘campaign kick-off’ event in Iowa after announcing White House bid
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will start his presidential campaign with a May 30 event in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by four other Iowa cities the following day. He will then travel to New Hampshire and South Carolina June 1-2. DeSantis will return to Iowa and New Hampshire, two states he has previously visited during stops before announcing his candidacy.
DeSantis' campaign launch through live Twitter Space for an interview with billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk crashed due to too many people tuning in. His allies call it a "break the internet" moment, while his critics say it was an embarrassing failure. The space had 900,000 concurrent viewers at one point, an all-time record, and President Biden's staff pounced on the opportunity by tweeting a campaign donation ad. Meanwhile, former President Trump's attempt to knock DeSantis was met with confusion.
Red State: Gov. DeSantis Signs Election Reforms Into Law, Elias Law Group and NAACP Sue Claiming Racism, per Usual
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has launched his campaign for the presidency in the 2024 elections. Alongside this, he signed a new election reform bill which modifies 27 areas of state election law, including clarifying his own ability to run for President. A lawsuit has already been filed on behalf of civil/voting rights organizations led by the Florida NAACP, claiming that the law impacts third-party voter registration organizations and would abridge eligible voters' right to vote on the basis of race, ethnicity, or color. The new law also includes specificity and complexity in reporting guidelines for voter registration groups as well as expanded training for mail-in ballot signature verification. Florida is also a "closed primary" state, and Republican voter registration activist Scott Presler reminded people to check their state laws and register as the Republican party if they plan on voting in the Republican primaries.

The Epoch Times: Energy Bills to Fall From July After Cut to Ofgem's Price Cap
UK energy regulator Ofgem will lower its price cap for energy bills from £3,280 to £2,074 from July 1, reflecting a drop in wholesale energy prices. The average household can expect their annual energy bill to drop by £426. However, the regulator warned that while the new cap was lower than last quarter, prices were still above pre-crisis levels and many households could still struggle to pay. Despite the lower cap, experts have warned that consumers may not see much of a difference in their bills.

The Epoch Times: US Nuclear Secrets at Risk From Insider Threats With Devastating Consequences: Report
U.S. nuclear secrets are at risk from insider attacks due to the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) lack of security, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The GAO states that although the DOE established an insider threat program in 2014, it has not yet implemented “all required measures”. There were about 250 unclassified insider threat-related security incidents in 2017, including incidents of sending classified information over unclassified systems, leaving security areas unattended, and not properly protecting classified information.

Spectator USA: Farewell Jeremy Clarke, you lovable eccentric
Jeremy Clarke, the author of The Spectator's Low Life column for over two decades, has passed away. A lover of a good time and a beautifully turned phrase, Clarke despised the hypocrisy of the progressive middle classes and had quirkily conservative views. He led a fascinating life, with odd jobs inspired by literature and travel writing, and he briefly achieved his dream of earning a comfortable living as a writer. He leaves behind a literary legacy that includes column writing, travel pieces, and a deep knowledge of an unusual range of subjects.

The company will remove movies from Disney+ and Hulu in order to write off asset losses in what's known as an impairment charge. The upcoming "Willow" series, among others, is to be cancelled completely.

Fox News: HIV infections have dropped in recent years, CDC says, but agency calls for greater equity
New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that HIV cases have declined by 12% in 2021 year-on-year, with the steepest decline among young people, particularly 13 to 24 year-olds, where new infections fell by 34%. This decline is largely driven by fewer cases among gay and bisexual males, which make up 80% of infections in this age group. Despite the progress made so far, the CDC notes that systemic inequities, social and economic marginalization, and residential segregation are still obstacles that must be overcome to increase progress towards ending the epidemic, particularly in minority communities.

Forbes: The 5 Biggest Problems With ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2
Yellowjackets Season 2 is not living up to the standards set by Season 1. The present-day timeline is messy, with too much going on and no real payoff. The writing and dialogue are clunkier, and the pacing is off in both timelines. The mysteries set up in Season 1 are feeling lost, with too many new questions being introduced without answers to the old ones. The lack of likable characters to root for is also a major problem, with no clear hero emerging from the group.

Forbes: Kansas City Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes Is Not Focused On Contract Renegotiations
Despite two quarterbacks signing contracts with average annual values exceeding his own, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes prioritizes winning championships over earning money. Mahomes acknowledges escalating salaries in the NFL but wants to balance making a good amount of money with keeping great players around him. His long-term contract gave the Chiefs financial flexibility to sign free agent Jawaan Taylor, but Mahomes still worries about how to continue earning a salary commensurate to his ability while preserving enough pie for the Chiefs to re-sign players like Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed.
