Fox News: The scandal that's hit America and will be bigger than Watergate
The Biden White House scandals are deeper and more cancerous than Watergate ever was according to the Durham report and Republican hearings. Watergate was a weird, dumb, and fairly narrow set of criminal behaviors which mushroomed into 69 officials being indicted and 48 imprisoned. In comparison, the current scandals involving senior bureaucrats are much worse and show institutional illegality and corruption.
During Watergate, the Nixon re-elect campaign sent five men to burglarize the Democratic National Committee headquarters, leading to his eventual resignation from office. In contrast, the current Biden establishment is filled with criminality on a grand scale, and senior leadership is willing to break the law to defend their chosen leader. The Durham report has begun to build a narrative of such institutional illegality and corruption that the hand of House Republican investigators has been dramatically strengthened. We will learn more about just how dishonest the elite corporate media and how deep the need for reform is.

DeSantis announces 2024 Bid. Locals from his hometown react.

Fox News: Iowa Sen Joni Ernst demands investigation of ATF for alleged waste of 'millions' in taxpayer dollars
Republican Senator Joni Ernst has demanded an investigation into allegations that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has wasted millions of taxpayer dollars by offering wrongful pay and benefits to non-law enforcement personnel. In her letter addressed to Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Ernst referred to the claims of whistleblowers and a report from the Office of Special Counsel, which had accused the ATF of misclassifying non-law enforcement jobs as law enforcement. Ernst acknowledged the Office of Personnel Management's efforts in managing the issue but expressed concern over “the limited scope of the remediating actions.”
The Office of Special Counsel alerted President Joe Biden and members of Congress about “substantial waste, mismanagement, and unlawful employment practices” at the ATF in a May 2 report. The OSC had previously substantiated whistleblower allegations that ATF unlawfully provided law enforcement pay and benefits to non-law-enforcement personnel, resulting in ATF overpaying agents by up to $20 million over a five-year period. Ernst’s letter highlights the need for whistleblowers to come forth and plans to examine ATF’s cultural system to stop it from mismanaging taxpayer funds. The ATF spokesperson said the agency had taken “extensive corrective actions” and is committed to resolving all issues to maximise public safety.
Liberty Nation: Could Twitter Top Meta in Social Media Dominance?
Meta Platforms completed the last of its 10,000 job cuts in March, focusing on its business division, but is lacking momentum with its foray into the metaverse hitting a physical wall. Competitors, including Twitter, may take advantage of the situation, especially after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his presidential candidacy on Twitter Spaces co-hosted by Musk and David Sacks. The announcement took a back seat to numerous technical glitches, with and trending. Despite this, the announcement was a huge day for the platform and could transform Twitter into a powerful content platform if Tucker Carlson were added to the mix. Twitter's free speech emphasis and status as a digital public town square could also take the platform to the upper echelon of social media.
National Review: The Corner: The Big Silence in the DeSantis Launch
DeSantis launches Twitter campaign, but technical difficulties led to missed opportunity as 500k listeners were kicked off. Analysts believe DeSantis has best chance of uniting Republican party for 2024, but worries that campaign against "woke mind virus" takes up too much time and economic agenda is silent. Has easier path than past Republican candidates to finesse trade divides by framing issues in terms of global competition or China.
Fox News: Sen. Josh Hawley reveals the real reason he believes Joe Biden 'is not fit to be president'
Sen. Josh Hawley predicts that Donald Trump will be the GOP nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Hawley stated his opinion during a speech at the National Religious Broadcasters convention held in Orlando. He believes that Trump's nomination is inevitable and that he has consolidated his support even though litigation and lawsuits are not working in the former president's favor. Hawley also criticized President Biden's policies which he believes have made America poor and have made China rich, adding that the next president's challenge, regardless of party, is to rebuild the country.
Fox News: Dianne Feinstein staff ‘hide her wheelchair,’ form ‘human barrier’ to protect her from press: report
Senator Dianne Feinstein's staff attempted to hide her wheelchair from a photographer as her office works to restrict press freedom, according to a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times. Feinstein, the oldest serving senator at 89 years old, has been the subject of speculation about her health and mental acuity following an extended absence from the Senate last year due to shingles. Feinstein's staff have reportedly been using every trick in the book to stay out of sight and at a distance from the press.
Senator Dianne Feinstein's staff have been using every trick in the book to keep her out of sight, according to a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times. Feinstein's age, extended absence from the Senate last year due to shingles, and declining mental acuity have led to increased questions about her health and fitness to serve. Her staff's efforts to protect her and restrict press freedom have only "ratcheted up" since her return to the Senate.
Liberty Nation: A New Day in Presidential Politics: DeSantis Jumps in on Twitter
Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential primary in a conversation on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk. While Twitter's system crashed, DeSantis focused on creating a "great American comeback" with slogans about restoring sanity to the nation and not surrendering to the woke mob. He criticized the Democrats for crime in their cities, whereas Florida had a 50-year-low crime rate, and promised to build a wall on the southern border. In DeSantis's speech, Trump was not mentioned, but he did follow Trump's policies for immigration and energy independence.
Ron DeSantis will enter a primary field packed with contenders, falling victim to the transparent targeting of Donald Trump by his enemies over false pretenses. In current polls, DeSantis has a huge deficit, but he knows how well-funded and organized his campaign is with multiple big-money donors drawn away from Trump. He has plans to outwork Trump by visiting all 99 counties in Iowa and spending huge campaign funds there and in New Hampshire, essential to effectuating a final mano-a-mano with Trump. DeSantis has proven electoral success, administrative initiative, and competence as Florida's governor. With a strong down-ballot influence leading to GOP dominance of the Florida legislature, he is determined not to go quietly into the night.

Fox News: Pennsylvania's Supreme Court likely to have split decision regarding power plant owners paying for emissions
Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court may have split opinions on whether a governor can force power plant owners to pay for greenhouse gas emissions or whether he needs legislative approval, with lower courts in disagreement on whether it's a tax or a fee (Society). The state would have raised more than USD 1bn had it begun participating in a multistate consortium as intended in 2022, according to calculations from nonprofit advocacy group the Natural Resources Defense Council. The case also raises issues around elected officials’ powers, and would mark Pennsylvania as the first major fossil fuel-producing state to adopt carbon pricing. Republican lawmakers oppose the programme, saying it lacks approval from the legislature and will hurt the state's energy industry.
The Epoch Times: San Francisco Mayor London Breed Booed During Outdoor Drug Crisis Hearing
San Francisco Mayor London Breed cut short a public hearing after being heckled by protesters, one of whom allegedly threw a brick that hit another attendee. The hearing was held to discuss the ongoing problems facing the city, including homelessness and a drug crisis, including a surge in fentanyl overdose deaths. Protesters continuously heckled Breed during her speech, and she ultimately decided that the outdoor hearing would not be “the right forum” to continue with the address, which was subsequently moved indoors, away from the crowd.
The hearing comes as San Francisco faces a rising tide of drug overdoses and violent crime. Attempts to improve the situation, including increased resources, have failed. Breed called for a change to policies "that have allowed things to continue in the way that they have for far too long.” A pilot program to address individuals who are “so far under the influence of drugs” that they may pose a danger to themselves or others has also been proposed. However, SF District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston criticized the program on Twitter, saying arresting people for drug addiction is "reactionary, cruel, and counterproductive."

The Epoch Times: Oil Eases as Russia Downplays Additional OPEC+ Cuts
Russian Deputy Prime Minister plays down possibility of further OPEC+ production cuts, causing oil prices to fall. However, warning from Saudi Arabia’s energy minister the previous day had boosted prices and signaled potential for output cuts. Uncertainty surrounding U.S. debt also weighed on prices, despite an unexpected fall in U.S. crude oil inventories.
The Epoch Times: Euro Slips as Germany Enters Recession, Dollar Hits 2-month Peak
Germany's confirmed recession caused the euro to drop while the dollar experienced a two-month peak due to safe-haven demand. Concerns about a possible downgrade of the United States' "AAA" debt ratings were raised by ratings agency Fitch. The greenback has paradoxically benefited from demand for safe havens with only a week left for a resolution to slow-moving debt ceiling talks before the June 1 "X-date." The euro received more signs of economic malaise in Europe, and fell to multi-month lows against the dollar. The U.S. dollar index rose by 0.3% to 104.16, and the dollar hit its strongest against the yen since November 30 at 139.705, although it was last down 0.1% at 139.345. The Chinese yuan fell to 7.0903 per dollar in the offshore market, producing a cascade of disappointing economic indicators that point to dull consumer demand and suggest that the post-pandemic recovery has already run its course, and the Australian dollar and the New Zealand dollar were affected by China's economic weakness.
Forbes: Dear Congress: Don’t Repeal Clean Energy Tax Credits Worth Hundreds Of Billions To Red And Purple States
Federal clean energy tax credits, established by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), have generated nearly $250 billion in project announcements across the United States, creating over 140,000 new jobs. However, some members of Congress want to repeal the IRA provisions in exchange for raising the debt ceiling, which could threaten the nascent economic boom and cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions in GDP growth primarily in red and purple states. Energy Innovation's state-by-state GDP modeling shows that, despite vocal detractors in Congress, states with the most to gain economically from IRA provisions are often represented by opponents of clean energy tax credits.
Clean energy investments spurred by the IRA generate billions in economic benefits and are concentrated in red and purple states. More than $70 billion has been invested in 85 new manufacturing projects since the IRA was signed, creating almost 57,000 new jobs. Investing in clean energy also saves consumers money, as over 96,000 megawatts of new clean energy projects have been announced. That amount could power about 72 million homes and generate $4.4 billion in savings for 24 million utility customers. Investing in clean energy also strengthens energy security, cuts consumer costs, and rebuilds global economic competitiveness, in addition to protecting the country from the worst impacts of climate change.

Fox News: Illinois report highlighting clergy abuse unlikely to lead to criminal charges against church
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s report found that nearly 2,000 children in Illinois have been sexually abused by Catholic clergy since 1950, with over 450 Catholic clergy involved. While his office has referred cases with potential for criminal charges to local prosecutors, no charges have been filed. The investigation, however, is unlikely to lead to criminal charges, as Illinois' statute of limitations on child sex crimes was eliminated only from January 2020 and many priests accused of abuse decades ago are dead. The report could prompt victims to file civil lawsuits, even if their abuse happened long ago.
Fox News: Oakland police arrest 9 teenagers, ages 12 to 17, for dozens of robberies
Nine minors, including three girls and six boys aged 12-17, have been arrested for nearly three dozen robberies in Oakland, prompting concern from officials. Reportedly, the city has seen a 7% increase in robberies this year compared to last year, with the recent spate involving carjackings, shootings, and other assaults. Juvenile involvement in crime is becoming more prevalent, with 100 robberies in one week in Oakland earlier this month. In addition, there have also been reports of masked teens 18 and under stealing more than 150 cars and 20 other robberies in Los Angeles County.

Fox News: Disciplinary hearing for Indiana doctor who performed abortion on 10-year-old rape victim set to begin
Dr. Caitlin Bernard is facing disciplinary action for speaking publicly about performing an abortion on a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita accused Bernard of violating state law and breaking federal patient privacy laws in the aftermath of an article by the Indianapolis Star that stirred a national political uproar. The Medical Licensing Board’s hearing will determine the penalty, which could include a reprimand or a suspension, revocation or probation of Bernard's license.

Fox News: Olivia Culpo says her 'feelings were getting hurt' as she tried to drop hints to NFL star before engagement

Fox News: Unsettled weather brings thunderstorms to Plains, including risk of tornadoes
Severe thunderstorms with the threat of hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes will affect parts of the Plains over the next few days, while an area of low pressure will bring heavy rainfall and blustery conditions to the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, potentially ruining many Memorial Day plans. The Northeast should remain mostly dry over the holiday weekend.
The Epoch Times: Bald Eagle narrowly escapes the jaws of an alligator, ‘nearly not seeing its next birthday’
Wildlife photographer Chris Holwell captured a startling image of a bald eagle narrowly escaping a hungry alligator in Orlando Wetlands Park. Holwell, who was on a visit from Hull with partner Ellen, at first thought the trio of alligator, eagle and turtle were not special since there were plenty in the park. However, when he saw hunting alligator preparing to strike near the eagle, he aimed his long lens and took over 60 shots. Holwell said it was the first time he had seen a gator in full attack mode.

The Epoch Times: The Future of Writing in a World of AI
AI technology, particularly the use of chatbots, is set to cause massive disruptions to the publishing world and literature scene. ChatGPT, an AI tool, has been developed to assist authors in their writing process, leading to concerns about the threat generative AI poses to the writing and illustrating professions. There are also worries about the ability to distinguish between AI-generated works and those created by human authors. The use of AI in schools and universities is also a concern, as it may become increasingly difficult to ascertain whether academic work is a student’s own. The importance of transparency in identifying AI-generated works is emphasized in order to limit the potential damage to the art of writing.
