Daily Wire: Gov. Bill Lee To Send Tennessee National Guard Troops To Combat ‘Unprecedented Crisis’ At The Border
Gov. Bill Lee To Send Tennessee National Guard Troops To Combat ‘Unprecedented Crisis’ At The Border
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee authorized the deployment of 100 National Guard troops to help secure the southern border in response to the record-level crossings and illegal entries into the United States. The troops will join the Operation Lone Star and help patrol the border, assist with barrier placement and outpost operations. This is not the first time Tennesseans have been sent to the border as Lee also sent 50 troops in December 2020. Illegal crossings at the border have remained high under President Joe Biden, and Governor Lee joins other Republican governors in calling out the Biden administration's policies at the border.

The Federalist: FBI Identified Car Used In DNC Pipe Bomb, But Won't ID Suspect
FBI Identified Car Used In DNC Pipe Bomb, But Won't ID Suspect
The FBI is still refusing to comply with congressional demands for transparency regarding its investigation into pipe bombs found at the Democrat and Republican National Committee headquarters on Jan. 6, 2021. The agency has identified the suspect's vehicle and was able to follow them using surveillance footage but has not pursued the individual. Lawmakers have raised concerns over the FBI's prioritization of this case and are seeking answers.

The FBI's investigation into the Jan. 6 pipe bomb incident has raised concerns among House Republicans over the agency's transparency and priorities. Lawmakers have demanded a briefing on the two-year-old case over which the FBI has refused to comply. A former FBI agent who worked on the case told the Washington Times that the agency had tied whoever the person was that had dropped the bombs with surveillance cameras, and that the two bombs were inoperable. Some have called into question whether the incident was another FBI hoax amid a cascade of FBI scandals and political bias within the top law enforcement agency.

American Thinker: Ron DeSantis campaign crashes on the runway during takeoff
Ron DeSantis campaign crashes on the runway during takeoff
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched his presidential campaign in a Twitter space, which led to frequent audio cuts and glitches. Critics have characterized his message as lackluster, with attacks on former President Trump but without mentioning him by name. DeSantis's past missteps, including his failure to stand with Trump during the FBI raid on his Florida home and his indictment, have already alienated some supporters. He also lacks the charisma and showmanship of Trump, making it challenging to appeal to MAGA voters. With his low polls, DeSantis should have waited until Trump announces his campaign, and then, if Trump endorses him, he can win the election in 2028.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched his 2024 presidential campaign on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk and vowed to fight against "woke ideology" if he becomes president. DeSantis promised to use his position to ensure universities uphold a "colorblind" approach and not "divide people on the basis of race." The former congressman also spoke out against Disney's opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education law and criticized the company for wanting to "put sexualization into children's programming."

‘Special assistant’ to John Fetterman brags about media ‘puppets’ and the senator’s duplicity
James O’Keefe released a sting operation video where Luke Borwegan, special assistant to Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman, was caught talking about the senator’s two-faced politicking and media collusion to promote certain agendas. Borwegan also disclosed that Fetterman is “okay with overturning the Second Amendment” and that journalists are handpicked to say what politicians want them to say. It’s not surprising that the mainstream media is a propaganda machine for the Left, but it’s surreal to hear it out loud.

Fox News: Stores selling Bud Light for free as Mulvaney backlash continues
Stores selling Bud Light for free as Mulvaney backlash continues
Bud Light is offering a rebate equivalent to the purchase price of one 15-pack or more, up to $15, paid via Anheuser-Busch Digital Prepaid Mastercard in honor of Memorial Day. Due to low prices for Budweiser products, the rebate is making some packs of beer free for customers in some instances. The rebate applies to purchases made between May 17 and May 31, and forms must be submitted by June 14.

Anheuser-Busch company is offering free or discounted Budweiser products due to a severe backlash against the Bud Light brand for featuring transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney in commercials. The promotion follows a 23.6% sales plunge of Bud Light one year ago. Social media users are posting their experiences with inexpensive beer purchases in Wisconsin, where a 20-pack of Bud Light is priced at $14.99 with the $15 rebate, resulting in a final cost of $0. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Anheuser-Busch will help wholesalers handle unsold merchandise.

Liberty Nation: Are US Military Operations in Syria Useful?
Are US Military Operations in Syria Useful?
The US has around 900 military personnel in Syria as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, with a mission to advise, assist and enable partner forces in defeating ISIS. However, the mission is complicated by the presence of Iran-aligned militias, Russian forces seeking to expand influence in the region, and self-inflicted problems such as drone strikes killing innocent civilians. Despite the challenges, US forces in Syria have significantly degraded ISIS operations, but the question remains whether a persistent military presence is necessary and worth the potential collateral damage.

National Review: Picasso in the City of Lights
Picasso in the City of Lights
The Guggenheim in New York houses a small exhibition, "Young Picasso in Paris," featuring ten objects and anchored by the artist's first Paris painting, the Moulin de la Galette from 1900. Picasso originally arrived in Paris to see his work displayed at the World's Fair and quickly immersed himself in the City of Lights, frequenting bars, dance halls, and nightclubs. The exhibition focuses on the artist's time before he became famous and before he adopted the style of blue and pink, or invented Cubism. While wall texts bring up topics such as colonialism and queer visibility in art, the exhibition does well in emphasizing that what matters most in looking at Picasso's art is the art itself.

Grown woman who identifies as 15-year-old boy faces wild claims of drugs, sexting with teen runaways: police
Amanda Dorrough, a 35-year-old woman from Washington, who allegedly identifies as a 15-year-old boy, has been arrested on charges of sexting and harboring runaway teens. The Port Angeles High School vice principal tipped off the police in May and reported that Dorrough would often hang out with minors in a “gully near a church”. Police have since discovered that Dorrough had been in contact with minors on several occasions. She has been charged with ‘unlawful harboring of minors’ and with distributing substances like marijuana and alcohol to minors.

Items including an unopened condom, an empty cigarette packet and a bra, were found by the police during their search of Dorrough’s apartment. Dorrough has allegedly identified as a teenage boy as well and has stated that she relates better with teenagers. It was also reported that parents of runaway teens had previously called the police after finding their children at Dorrough’s apartment. After reports of potential predatory behavior, Dorrough was arrested in May, and charged with one count of distributing a controlled substance. She has posted bail and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

National Review: Weakening Capital Punishment Jury Standards Risks Injustice
Weakening Capital Punishment Jury Standards Risks Injustice
Florida recently passed a bill that lowered the threshold for death-penalty convictions to only eight juror votes, unlike the previous unanimous jury requirement. Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill that has the lowest threshold for death-penalty convictions of 27 states that impose capital punishment. The push to weaken the execution standard came after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. The proposed Florida law still requires unanimity for finding guilt but the lower standard applies to sentencing someone to death. Death-penalty opponents must sympathize with the feelings of family members and must be troubled by the relaxation of the constraints that keep governments from exercising their most serious power.

Forbes: Latest Generative AI Boldly Labeled As Constitutional AI Such As Claude By Anthropic Has Heart In The Right Place, Says AI Ethics And AI Law
Latest Generative AI Boldly Labeled As Constitutional AI Such As Claude By Anthropic Has Heart In The Right Place, Says AI Ethics And AI Law
Can generative AI align with human values? An emerging approach known as constitutional AI (CAI) aims to data-train generative AI on ethical and legally minded principles that align with human values. By feeding these principles into the AI during data training, the hope is that the underlying algorithms and data structures will adhere to these principles. The approach was broadly devised by Anthropic and is used in its generative AI app, Claude. However, there are concerns about the use of the term “constitution” and efforts are underway to rename it principles-based AI.

Generative AI is usually data trained by scanning text on the internet and AI makers are struggling to limit the risk of inappropriate and offensive narratives emitted by generative AI. An approach known as reinforcement learning via human feedback (RLHF) has proven effective at reducing the risk. The AI is first data trained on text scanned from the internet and human reviewers tell the AI when the text or essays veer into foul territory, with the AI tuning its output accordingly. However, there are challenges to implementing RLHF, such as determining the correct headcount and training human reviewers to the right standard.

The Epoch Times: Tasmanian ocean researchers solve mystery of shipwrecked freighter that was lost 50 years ago
Tasmanian ocean researchers solve mystery of shipwrecked freighter that was lost 50 years ago
After nearly 50 years, the mystery of a shipwreck off the coast of Tasmania has been solved. Researchers aboard the CSIRO Research Vessel Investigator were able to map the sunken remains of the Motor Vessel Blythe Star, which sank in October 1973. All ten crew members survived the shipwreck, with only three dying before they could be rescued. The discovery was made during a 38-day expedition led by the University of Tasmania to study an underwater landslide off Tasmania's west coast. The shipwreck was identified using multibeam echosounders and underwater cameras, and the word "STAR" was confirmed on the ship's bow. Marine life was found surrounding the site of the shipwreck, including crayfish, schools of fish, and several fur seals. The discovery was welcomed by the Blythe Star Memorial Group, who plan to hold an event in Hobart in October to commemorate the tragic incident. #(none)
