Fox News: Miami airport customs nab Taiwanese man for bizarre contraband after hearing chirping from bag
Miami airport customs nab Taiwanese man for bizarre contraband after hearing chirping from bag
CBP agents found parrot eggs in a passenger's bag at Miami International Airport. The passenger, Szu Ta Wu, from Taiwan, had 29 parrot eggs incubating inside a cooler. Wu was arrested and later plead guilty to charges of smuggling birds into the United States. The eggs were cared for by a professor and director of the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation, who discovered they were yellow-naped Amazons and red-lored Amazons. The birds are now being quarantined for 45 days and a plan is being put in place to "have the birds fly free and help restore their species in the wild."

Washington Free Beacon: Seattle Firefighters Now Drilled on Ibram Kendi Before Promotion to Top Jobs
Seattle Firefighters Now Drilled on Ibram Kendi Before Promotion to Top Jobs
Seattle's fire department is under criticism for an exam for prospective lieutenants that focused heavily on issues of social justice. The exam's bibliography includes books on gender, race, and social justice, with less focus on topics related to firefighting. Critics argue that the emphasis on ideology in the exam is making it harder for many of the department's qualified candidates, particularly those who do not share its woke politics, to get hired. Some have argued that the focus on ideology could even put lives in danger.

Foreign Policy: No, Russia Is Not Massively Skirting Sanctions
No, Russia Is Not Massively Skirting Sanctions
Reports suggest that Russia is easily bypassing Western sanctions by using firms in Kazakhstan, Turkey, or the United Arab Emirates. However, whilst Russia is managing to evade some sanctions, the scale is likely more limited than media reports and Kremlin statements claim. Russia is certainly not swamped with smuggled high-tech goods and is not as successful at sanctions-dodging as smaller countries such as North Korea. Furthermore, tackling sanctions evasion is hard, and whilst sanctions evasion is happening, sanctions are working, and evasion is not much more than a drop in the ocean.

American Thinker: The North Carolina governor who cried 'Emergency'
The North Carolina governor who cried 'Emergency'
Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina creates fake "States of Emergency" to amuse himself, causing schools to shut down and students to suffer academically. He later uses the same tactic to prevent educational options and competition for government schools, causing a lack of accountability and poor student performance.

American Thinker: The Babe hit # 714 and then said goodbye
The Babe hit # 714 and then said goodbye
Babe Ruth hit his final home run on May 25th, 1935, with three blasts during a Braves vs. Pirates game. He played five more games that season but didn't record another hit. Ruth created the Yankee mystique and saved baseball.
