Fox News: Civil rights veteran calls Democrats' push for reparations a political ploy: ‘It’s about 2024’
Civil rights veteran calls Democrats' push for reparations a political ploy: ‘It’s about 2024’
Robert Woodson, a civil rights veteran who recently appeared on "Dr. Phil" denouncing reparations, has accused backers of the policy of attempting to gain support for the 2024 presidential race. Woodson called the call for reparations a "ploy" aimed at keeping the Black community in line and accused the movement of misusing "the rich legacy of the civil rights movement." Despite polls showing reparations remain unpopular, Democratic lawmakers have introduced a resolution calling for $14 trillion in reparations and California’s reparations task force recommended $1.2 million in payments to each qualified Black American.

Woodson believes the reparations movement is "lethal" to continue to direct attention away from the critical problems and challenges facing Blacks, highlighting that more Blacks are killed in one year by other Blacks than were killed in the 40 years by the Ku Klux Klan. Woodson also said that he doesn’t think reparations could work logistically because of the difficulty of accurately tracing family ancestry. He added that handing out large sums of money to descendants of slaves won't improve their lives, drawing a comparison to winners of the lottery, most of whom wish they'd never received the money.

CBS Shows IRS Whistleblower Exposing Hunter Biden Investigation Abuses
Gary Shapley, an IRS official overseeing an “international tax” investigation, said the Department of Justice slow-walked the Hunter Biden probe. Shapley is a former National Security Agency officer who decided to document his concerns over how the probe was being handled. Shapley alleges in a letter that he was excluded from the investigation following a meeting with DOJ prosecutors. CBS News reported the story, which is striking given that the media has largely been uninterested in covering the Hunter Biden story.

Fox News: Target in 'real, severe danger' after waving woke politics in customers' faces, critics warn
Target in 'real, severe danger' after waving woke politics in customers' faces, critics warn
Target is facing backlash over its "Pride" products, specifically clothing for transgender women. Clay Travis called out the company, stating that it faces the risk of losing profits like Bud Light. Target has confirmed that it is making "adjustments" to its products after threats and confrontational behavior towards employees. Travis believes that boycotts against companies like Target will force them to become less politically-driven and more centered towards the middle. Other conservative commentators agree, stating that companies are promoting transgender ideology and targeting children.

Forbes: Surge In Spending Sends Saudi Budget Back Into The Red
Surge In Spending Sends Saudi Budget Back Into The Red
Saudi Arabia's Q1 budget showed a deficit of SR2.9bn ($770m) as spending rose 29% YoY while oil revenues fell 3%. Government revenues rose 1%, helped by strong receipts from VAT and other levies, which totalled 9%. While a spike in spending was broad-based, capital expenditure rose 75%, whilst public sector wages rose 7%, despite official data showing a fall in civil service employment in 2022. This has led analysts, such as local bank Jadwa Investment, to suggest wage inflation combined with additional end-of-service payments have triggered the increase. Consequently, Jadwa predicts the government will run a deficit for the year as a whole.
