The Right Scoop: BREAKING: Supreme Court dramatically curtails Biden EPA’s Clean Water Act
BREAKING: Supreme Court dramatically curtails Biden EPA’s Clean Water Act
The Supreme Court limited the reach of federal clean water protections, dealing a significant blow to President Biden's efforts to restore protections to wetlands and delivering a win to industries such as homebuilding and oil and gas. The ruling from the court's conservative majority vastly narrowed the federal government's authority over marshes and bogs, stating that only those wetlands "indistinguishable" from larger waters should be covered by Clean Water Act permits. The case centered on a married couple's 15-year fight with the EPA to build their home on an empty lot near Priest Lake, Idaho.

'Time To Worry': IRS Targeted Biden-Critical Journalist on Two Suspicious Dates, Letter Reveals
The IRS targeted liberal journalist Matt Taibbi twice while he exposed censorship efforts by the government and Twitter, investigating him on December 24, 2022 and again on March 9, 2023, looking into his voter registration records, hunting or fishing license, concealed weapons permit, and telephone numbers. Taibbi's "Twitter Files" revealed extensive censorship at Twitter before Elon Musk took over the company, and federal agencies pressured Twitter to regulate conversation "related to the coronavirus vaccines, Russia, and the January 6 attack on the Capitol." House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan demanded that the IRS turn over any documents about its probe into Taibbi by June 7.

Missouri Senator Predicts Trump's 2024 GOP Nomination Is 'Inevitable'
Sen. Josh Hawley thinks it's inevitable that former President Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, despite not endorsing any GOP candidate yet. He made these remarks at the National Religious Broadcasters International Christian Media Convention. Hawley argued that President Joe Biden made the US dependant on China, intentionally tried to divide the American people, and allowed record numbers of drugs across the US-Mexico border. He also criticized Biden for frequently calling half of the country fascists and people who threaten democracy, adding that this alone makes Biden unfit for the presidency.

Mitchell, Socialist Rep. Want To Spend Even More Money Amid Debt Fight
MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell and Rep. Maxwell Frost discussed Republicans' efforts to cut spending, particularly President Biden's student loan forgiveness order. Frost argued that the government works to remedy injustices, so student debt should be forgiven regardless of whether some have already paid their debt. Mitchell then raised concerns about the White House's PR operation regarding the debt limit and asked if they were doing enough to sell their side of the case. Frost urged Biden to use his bully pulpit to call out Republicans for manufactured a bomb that harms working families.

White House Caves to Anti-Israel Pressure on Anti-Semitism Rollout
The Biden administration has included a watered-down definition of anti-Semitism in its report on combating Jew hatred. The report endorses both the stronger International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition and the "Nexus" definition that allows holding Israel to higher standards than other countries. The decision to include dueling definitions drew criticism from anti-Semitism watchdogs.

Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters faces backlash for wearing Nazi-like uniform at Berlin concert, comparing Anne Frank with George Floyd and Palestinian journalist
Roger Waters is facing backlash for alleged anti-Semitic imagery during his recent concert in Berlin. Critics are accusing the Pink Floyd founder of dressing in a Nazi uniform, comparing Anne Frank to George Floyd and a Palestinian journalist, and displaying names of victims of police encounters, including U.S. and Palestinian victims, during the show. The Israeli Foreign Ministry condemned Waters' actions as "desecrating the memory of Anne Frank and the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust." Waters has previously faced criticism for similar actions during his concerts in 2013 and is currently on his farewell tour.

San Francisco Mayor Breed retreats when chaos erupts at drug crisis event — woman throws brick into crowd, public shouts down officials' remarks
San Francisco's mayor and board of supervisors were shouted down at a drug crisis event held at United Nations Plaza, which has become a hot spot for open-air drug dealing. The officials were addressing the area's fentanyl crisis and "illegal, out-of-control behavior," but protesters chanted complaints and at one point a woman hurled a brick into the crowd. The Democratic mayor later declared that "compassion is killing people" and the city may start arresting some open-air drug users as part of a new pilot program.

Black Activists Distance Themselves From Black Lives Matter Amid Financial Collapse
Black Lives Matter is facing criticism and distancing from some local chapters due to financial insolvency. The national arm of the movement, Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, spent over two-thirds of the $90m raised in the summer of 2020 following George Floyd's death and experienced a significant drop in donations in its 2022 fiscal year. Tax documents reveal the group spent over $10.5m on high-priced consultants, including companies run by cofounder Patrisse Cullors's family and close associate Shalomyah Bowers, who is facing a lawsuit from the coalition Black Lives Matter Grassroots for allegedly using the charity to fraudulently siphon $10m in fees to his company. Black activists criticize the charity, stating that donors want to fund the work, not high-priced consultants.

Report: Japan Prime Minister Kishida May Attend NATO Summit
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio is reportedly planning to attend the NATO summit in Lithuania in July. While he ruled out becoming a full NATO member, he is said to be open to allowing NATO to establish a liaison office in Japan. Kishida has been pushing for greater cooperation with NATO amid growing belligerence from Russia and China in Eurasia. Japan remains in a state of war with Russia and is concerned that a successful Russian invasion of Ukraine would embolden China to similarly attack Taiwan. Japan relies on Russia for much of its energy supply, but has been vocal about showing solidarity with Ukraine.

Breitbart: Disney Layoffs Go Global as Additional 2,500 U.S. Workers Eliminated This Week
Disney Layoffs Go Global as Additional 2,500 U.S. Workers Eliminated This Week
Disney has laid off around 100 overseas workers this week, with staff based in London and across the EMEA region receiving pink slips. The move comes as Disney continues to eliminate jobs, with an additional 2,500 U.S. workers receiving layoffs this week. CEO Bob Iger is looking to slash $5.5 billion in spending to save the struggling company as it faces profitability challenges brought on by a weak economy under President Joe Biden.

Disney has instituted a brutal round of mass layoffs earlier this year, with a total of 7,000 workers expected to lose their jobs. The layoffs come as Disney faces a decline in advertising revenue and profitability due to cord-cutting. Despite its significant financial challenges, the studio continues to embrace woke politics that alienate millions of its customers, including pushing reparations for slavery and featuring a transgender "man" who menstruates in its animated Baymax series for kids.

2 Dead, Over 200 Americans at Risk of Meningitis After Surgery in Mexico, CDC Warns
An outbreak of fungal meningitis in Matamoros, Mexico, has caused two deaths and threatens over 200 American patients who traveled there for surgical procedures under epidural anesthesia. The CDC identified two closed clinics associated with the outbreak and is working with 25 state and local health departments to contact people with potential exposure and urge them to be tested for meningitis. Fungal meningitis is not contagious, but symptoms include fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea, vomiting, confusion, and sensitivity to light. The CDC advises those who might be at risk to go to the nearest health center or emergency room as soon as possible for evaluation. Travelers to Matamoros for medical procedures involving epidural anesthesia are advised to cancel until there is evidence that there is no longer a risk for infection at the clinics.

The Epoch Times: IN-DEPTH: Child Sex Traffickers Are Victimizing Kids Across the US
IN-DEPTH: Child Sex Traffickers Are Victimizing Kids Across the US
Child sex trafficking is a growing problem in the U.S. with over 31.9 million reports of suspected child sexual exploitation received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in 2022. The majority of missing child reports involve children who run away from home, putting them at high risk for sex trafficking. Children living in group homes or those in the child welfare system are also extremely susceptible, and traffickers have been known to find local group homes and start conversations with vulnerable youth. Social media, online gaming sites, and seemingly innocuous websites are often used by perpetrators for recruiting. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about the dangers of child sex trafficking and monitor their online activity.

Nolte: Democrat-Run Oakland Suffers 100 Robberies in Single Week
Oakland faced 100 robberies in a week, including gunfire and assaults, some committed by children as young as 12. Democrats are being blamed for this surge of violence and chaos. To end this, convicted felons need to be put in prison, which is the only solution to decrease crime, history proves. Democrats are enacting the Cloward-Piven strategy of creating massive unrest, while the good news is that this only punishes the ones who vote for Democrats.

The Epoch Times: Canada May List Monarch Butterflies as 'Endangered,' Potentially Impacting Industry Activities
Canada May List Monarch Butterflies as 'Endangered,' Potentially Impacting Industry Activities
Canada's federal government is considering designating Monarch butterflies as "endangered", a move that could limit human activities in their habitat. The proposal follows a regulatory impact analysis which included feedback from provincial governments, industry and other respondents. While the majority of respondents wanted the butterfly listed as endangered, two groups – a Crown corporation, and one which the ministry referred to only as an "industry organization" – were concerned that the insects' reclassification might affect their work. The proposal will be open for public comment until 12 June, after which the Governor in Council may decide to either support the reclassification or request further study.

The environmental impact statement acknowledges that herbicide use may impact milkweeds, the plants which are the Monarch butterfly's chosen breeding ground. Forestry and agricultural sectors may be affected if permits are required to carry out herbicide work, with a potential loss of $3m in agricultural production over a decade on federal lands. The population of Monarch butterflies has plummeted in recent years due to commercial and residential development, increased pesticide and herbicide use and climate change. Though the butterflies are seen along Canada's north Great Lakes, it is difficult to gauge their population size in the country.

Forbes: Current Issues In U.S. EB-5 Investor Immigration
Current Issues In U.S. EB-5 Investor Immigration
Invest in the U.S.A. (IIUSA) recently held a conference to address issues surrounding the EB-5 investor immigration program in the United States. The IIUSA is pursuing the permanent reauthorization of the program, improvements in adjudications and communication, and a better understanding of the program as a job creation program. Backlogs in petitions awaiting review, especially for Chinese and Indian nationals, are a major problem, and litigation has been necessary to solve some issues. Clarification is also needed concerning sustainment and redeployment of funds, with best practices including a nexus between investment and job creation and clear delineation in regional center offering documentation.
