DeSantis 2024 Announcement: Florida Governor Laments ‘Corporate Journalists’ And ‘Elites’ In Talk With Elon Musk
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced his 2024 presidential campaign, criticizing the "legacy media" for hijacking the national conversation and crediting Twitter for exposing people to different viewpoints. DeSantis, who filed with the Federal Election Commission earlier, aims to lead a great American comeback with Twitter Spaces hosting his campaign announcement. Malfunctions halted the campaign announcement for over 20 minutes, and some believe Musk's support is forthcoming, even though he has confirmed he will not support any particular candidate.

National Review: The Corner: Why Twitter Spaces? A Theory
The Corner: Why Twitter Spaces? A Theory
Ron DeSantis is a Republican politician despised by mainstream media for being effective and openly contemptuous towards them. He launched a rough Twitter Spaces event after a prior poorly received response to Tucker Carlson's query about Ukraine. Catering to the ones he has, DeSantis pitched his Ukraine response to keep Tucker Carlson on his side, and gave Elon Musk the exclusive first interview of his campaign to appease his friends.

The poll shows that six percent of participants back Former Vice President Mike Pence and former Gov. Nikki Haley, while Sen. Tim Scott and former Gov. Chris Christie each receive two percent support. Entrepreneurs Vivek Ramaswamy and Gov. Doug Burgum and former Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas each receive one percent support, as do Gov. Chris Sununu. Some 31 percent of respondents would "consider" supporting Trump, while his non-negotiable opposition remains at 16%.

National Review: The Corner: Ron DeSantis Twitter Launch Was a Disaster
The Corner: Ron DeSantis Twitter Launch Was a Disaster
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched his presidential campaign on a Twitter Spaces event with Elon Musk, which proved to be a disaster. Technical issues caused the audio to cut off, and once it got going, the conversation diverged in many directions that weren’t all about DeSantis and his campaign. The event had all the disadvantages of an informal forum without any of the advantages. DeSantis had command of what he was saying, but the format was not suitable for a presidential campaign launch.

Spectator USA: A disastrous DeSantis 2024 ‘launch’ on Twitter Spaces
A disastrous DeSantis 2024 ‘launch’ on Twitter Spaces
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy for the presidency on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk, hoping to upstage Donald Trump. However, the event was plagued with technical difficulties and an unimpressive speech, leaving many wondering how effective DeSantis will be as a candidate. His mixed messaging on Ukraine, spat with Disney, and decision to sign a bill prohibiting abortion after six hours/weeks have drawn criticism, along with concerns about his governing style and woodenness on the stump. Elon Musk has expressed admiration for DeSantis and other candidates, including Tim Scott, who recently announced his candidacy in a more traditional way.

Forbes: DeSantis’ 2024 Announcement Delayed By Twitter Glitches
DeSantis’ 2024 Announcement Delayed By Twitter Glitches
Twitter malfunctions plagued Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign announcement on Twitter Spaces, delaying his speech by over 20 minutes. The audio recording was glitchy and Elon Musk blamed the "massive" audience for the issues. DeSantis filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission earlier in the day declaring his candidacy.

National Review: The Corner: It Didn’t Work
The Corner: It Didn’t Work
Ron DeSantis's 2024 presidential campaign launch on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk suffered from technical difficulties and formatting issues. The lack of focus and spotlight, as well as the absence of humor, limits DeSantis's effectiveness as a candidate. While many will overstate the severity of the launch's failure, it was a missed opportunity for his campaign to showcase his vision for America.

DeSantis highlighted some of the issues affecting the country under Biden’s leadership, including the border crisis, crime, the economy, and woke cultural domination. He promises to deliver results and bring integrity back to the government. DeSantis also took on the Republican Party’s “culture of losing” and the “tired dogmas of the past.” Many conservatives have considered DeSantis as a viable alternative to Donald Trump and he is known for his strong conservative leadership.

Steve Scalise Tells Lawmakers to Prepare for Potential Debt Limit Deal
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise says lawmakers will have 24-hour notice to return to vote on a debt ceiling deal. He stated that members will have 72 hours to review any legislative text. The Treasury Secretary claims June 1 is the debt limit deadline, and the House has already voted to address the issue. Speaker Kevin McCarthy has requested ten years of spending caps, but talks with Joe Biden have yet to produce a compromise, with Democrats believing the White House is losing the messaging war against McCarthy.

State-sponsored Chinese hackers, Volt Typhoon, conducted infrastructure hacking activity targeting Guam and organizations across various sectors within US, including technology and education. Microsoft directly notified targeted or compromised customers and alerted them of the intrusion. The US and international partners suggested that the targeted techniques by the hackers could be used against other sectors worldwide and may also be capable of disrupting critical communications between the US and Asia, with Guam being a crucial military hub.

Russian Hypersonic Missile Expert Accused of Giving Secrets to China
Russian scientist Alexander Shiplyuk, director of the Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Siberia, and two of his colleagues have been accused of treason for allegedly giving hypersonic missile technology to China. Shiplyuk was arrested last August and has been held at Moscow’s Lefortovo prison ever since. The cases against the scientists are likely to remain murky since treason trials in Russia are conducted behind closed doors. The China connection could be awkward, as the country announced plans to intensify energy and investment cooperation with Russia.

AMLO Says Mexico Hosting 700 Cuban Slave Doctors
Mexico has imported 700 Cuban slave doctors to work in its hospitals as part of an agreement signed in 2022 between Mexico’s IMSS and the Cuban Medical Services Marketer (CSMC). The agreement now totals 700 Cuban slave doctors, with the cost to Mexico reportedly at $1.2 million per month. Countries around the world continue to engage in multimillion-dollar agreements with the Castro regime in exchange for slave doctor labor despite it being widely denounced as “human trafficking” by the Organization of American States (OAS) and other organizations.

Doctors and other health workers who have escaped the human trafficking situation say they often had to falsify medical statistics, were forced to pressure patients into adopting communist ideology, and had their passports confiscated to prevent their escape. Defecting doctors are banned from returning to Cuba for eight years, often meaning the relinquishing of seeing the childhoods of their children left at home during medical “missions.” Cuban doctors sent abroad as part of the slave program are kept under strict vigilance and curfew, with their passports being withheld by regime officials.

The group allegedly infiltrated industries including communications, utility, transportation, government, and education sectors, stealing user credentials to maintain access without being detected. The National Security Agency detailed how the group uses tactics to avoid detection and advised cybersecurity teams on how to respond. CISA officials warned that China poses a risk to American intellectual property, and American intelligence agencies detected the group installing computer code in telecommunications systems in Guam and other parts of the US in February.

Archbishop of San Francisco: 'We Now Know What Gods the Dodger Admin Worships...Gird Your Loins'
The L.A. Dodgers are being criticized by the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles for re-inviting an anti-Catholic hate group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, to receive a "Community Heroes" award at its Pride Night game on June 16. The Archdiocese released a statement expressing "disappointment, concern, anger, and dismay" over the Dodgers' decision and accused the team of "worshiping" alternative "gods" with its support of the LGBTQ movement. The controversy began when the team first invited the group, then disinvited them after complaints from Christians, only to re-invite them after pressure from the radical gay lobby.

Priest Doubts Vin Scully Would Be A Fan Of Dodgers Embracing Drag Queen Nuns Troupe
Legendary baseball broadcaster Vin Scully, who was also a devout Catholic, would not approve of the Los Angeles Dodgers warming up to a drag troupe of self-described “queer and trans nuns,” according to Father Steve Davoren, who presided over Scully’s funeral mass. The Dodgers re-invited the controversial Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to their annual Pride Night celebration, which has outraged Catholics due to certain antics, such as poll dancing on a cross, that they say is a mockery of their faith and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. “So I know he would not approve, I just have that feeling,” said Daveron. He urged the team to be inclusive but also unifying.

Daily Wire: Maybe We Really Should Be Scared To Death Of Artificial Intelligence
Maybe We Really Should Be Scared To Death Of Artificial Intelligence
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has warned that governments will need to prevent artificial intelligence (AI) from being “misused by evil people”. Schmidt identified scenarios in which AI systems could find new types of biology and zero-day exploits in cyber issues, making the technology an existential threat to society. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has also warned that AI could take over search engines like Google if user behaviour changes as predicted, and that AI assistants could one day enable users to get information without using Google search. The comments come after a scammer in China used AI-powered face-swapping technology to trick a man out of $622,000.
