The Epoch Times: 200 Albanian Prisoners Sent Back to Homeland to Serve out Sentences
200 Albanian nationals in overcrowded prisons in England and Wales will be sent back to Tirana to serve their sentences in their home country. Albanian nationals serving sentences of four years or more will be sent back, but some criminals have been released early by Albanian judges. The deal will save taxpayers money, free up space in prisons in England and Wales and double the number of offenders without UK citizenship removed annually. The money saved on housing prisoners will be spent helping Albania modernise its prison system. The Albanian deal would cost the UK £8 million over two years, equating to £32 per prisoner per day.
The Economist: DeSantis is a truer believer, if a lesser politician, than Trump
Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, is attempting to take Trumpism in a new direction by offering a more coherent agenda that could appeal to a wider audience beyond the base. In his version of Trumpism, DeSantis is focusing on the culture war as the unifying principle and sees leftist ideology as an existential threat that has infiltrated core institutions. His high job approval rating and success in Florida suggest that his ideology could be gaining appeal among conservatives, though Democrats warn that his bullying demeanor and culture warring could repel suburban and independent voters.
Donald Trump is attacking DeSantis from the left and right flank, criticizing his positions on entitlements, taxes, abortion, and left-wing indoctrination. DeSantis, however, has not named Trump directly but has referred to the "culture of losing" that has infected the GOP in recent years. The governor's opportunist rather than ideological approach could find traction with voters if he can expand beyond his base, but his culture war agenda also risks alienating independent voters. Though the story of DeSantis is far from over, his success in Florida and his cohesive message suggest that the battle for the soul of the Republican Party may continue long after Trump has left the stage.
The Federalist: Here's A Big Tell Democrats Believe The FBI Works For Them
Democrats want to expand police forces that use the law as a political weapon. In a recent hearing on FBI weaponization, Democrats supported the FBI despite evidence of gross and systemic abuse of power, while Republicans criticized it. This situation is dangerous as federal law enforcement becomes the shock troops of only one political party.
National Review: The Corner: Hillary Clinton: Still Insulting Your Intelligence after All These Years
Hillary Clinton defended Senator Dianne Feinstein, claiming that Republicans are the reason Feinstein cannot retire due to their refusal to add another Democrat to the Judiciary Committee. However, her reasoning is flawed as Republicans cannot block the appointment of Feinstein's replacement and are not responsible for Democratic internal politics. The real reasons for Clinton's defense are likely personal loyalty and the fear that accepting calls for resignation could set a precedent for other Democrats. Her argument is an insult to the intelligence of all sentient beings and a misdirection from the true source of the problem.
Fox News: FBI whistleblowers are the real-life victims of deplorable government corruption
Three FBI informants testified before the House subcommittee about FBI's abuse of power and corruption. FBI agents Garret O'Boyle, Marcus Allen, and Steve Friend testified that they were stripped of clearance and pay for expressing concerns about FBI abuse of power. They revealed that FBI misused the Section 702 database to surveil Americans 278,000 times, including January 6th suspects and conservative political donors. Demanding consequences and action, the article calls for wholesale changes in personnel and policy at the top level of the FBI.
Fox News: Biden must resist Republican debt ceiling demands. Here’s what he needs to do instead
The debt ceiling debate is about national priorities, such as demanding the billionaire class to pay their fair share of taxes and ending huge tax loopholes for large corporations. Republicans prioritize a complete repeal of the estate tax, which benefits a handful of multi-billionaire families and pushes the federal deficit by $1.8 trillion, among other things. Defaulting on the national debt would be catastrophic and harmful to millions of Americans who rely on programs that would be cut in a Republican budget. President Joe Biden should use the 14th Amendment to avoid a default and prevent suffering for the most vulnerable people in the country.

American Thinker: Target in a panic over LGBTQ merchandise outraging customers -reports
Target is facing a customer backlash over its Pride merchandise collection, prompting the removal of some products from its stores. Speaking to Reuters, the Minneapolis-based retailer said it was acting to protect employee safety given threats against team members while at work. The company added it will be removing merchandise that has been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior. Customers have learned the power of their boycott in the case of Bud Light, and such actions can have a significant impact on a company's profits. The Fox report, citing panic among Target honchos fearing a new "Bud Light situation" pretty well tells the story. Very likely, the inherent problem of the Bud Light ad was that it was perceived as insulting to everyone else.

Fox News: Afghanistan document shows Biden ‘didn’t heed’ warnings ahead of withdrawal, Rep. McCaul says
President Biden ignored warnings from U.S. officials about the dangers of the Afghanistan withdrawal, according to documents obtained by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul. McCaul gained access to the document, known as a dissent cable, after months of legal battles and subpoenas.

Forbes: Luxury Stocks Tumble $30 Billion As Soft U.S. Sales Bling The Changes
Luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, saw stock prices drop on Tuesday as investors offloaded their shares due to concerns about the impact of a softening US economy on sales and uncertainty around when high net worth Chinese travellers can visit Europe and the US. Around €30bn was wiped from the European luxury sector, with Bernard Arnault seeing his personal fortune slide $11.2bn, although he has seen wealth increase this year amid a surge in European luxury companies' stock values. Shares propped up by the assumption that the Chinese consumer would start travelling and spending, plus a soft landing in the US luxury market, are now being questioned.
The US and the South Korean markets have been the drivers for luxury sales over the past three years, but developments such as a drop-off in entry-level accessories' popularity among younger American consumers, a backlog in processing visas and passports, and heightened enthusiasm for domestic and regional tourism suggest that international Chinese shoppers will not be back in force until 2024. During the pandemic, the major luxury houses have expanded in the US and the trend seems likely to continue even if growth in the market slows, but LVMH, for example, generated 23% of its sales from the US in the first quarter and so could be exposed. If there is no Chinese ying to the US yang, then this week's share price falls may not be the end of the story for a sector that was previously seen as impervious to economic downturns.
Forbes: Cosentino Announces The Construction Of Its First U.S. Manufacturing Site
Spanish architecture company Cosentino Group plans to invest $270m in a new manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, Florida. The plant represents the company's first production plant in the US and its second site outside Spain. The site will initially manufacture either Silestone or Dekton, with the final decision made later this year. The company employs nearly 6,000 people and sells its products in 129 markets globally. Cosentino plans to hire 180 people directly for the new factory, having already recruited more than 1,400 staff in North America.

The Federalist: 160-Plus Retired Military Brass Urge Congress To Root Out DEI
Over 160 retired generals and admirals signed a letter urging Congress to remove diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs from the Department of Defense and eliminate funding for them from the 2024 NDAA. The signatories argued that the cultural Marxism promoted by DEI policies is a domestic threat to national security and causes friction in the ranks, damaging unit cohesion, teamwork, and unity of effort. They instead promoted a return to longstanding meritocratic military recruitment standards, which they claimed were essential for winning and had been battle tested for generations.

American Thinker: How electric car propaganda preys on the disabled
Electric vehicles (E.V.s) are marketed as the savior for the environment, but the inconvenient truth is they are not suitable for long-term use. The disability community is particularly vulnerable to the downsides of this technology. As expensive lithium batteries age, they diminish, and replacements are costly. There is little incentive to recycle old batteries, and the batteries used for the car are also prone to limitations during the winter. Moreover, most people, especially those with disabilities or in minority communities, are priced out of electric car ownership.

National Review: ‘A Strong Symbol’: France Bans Short-Distance Flights to Combat Climate Change
France has banned short domestic flights that can be covered in under two-and-a-half hours by train, in a bid to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The ruling has led to the cancellation of three flight routes connecting Paris Orly Airport with the French cities of Bordeaux, Nantes and Lyon. However, the ban leaves short-distance flights to Marseilles, which takes three hours by plane, unaffected. The country's Transportation Minister, Clement Beaune, said the move was an "essential step" in cutting carbon emissions. Domestic consumer groups, including UFC-Que Choisir, originally demanded the government stand by its earlier proposal in 2019, banning flights that could be completed by train rides of four hours. The French professional body for airlines, Airlines for Europe (A4E), said the ban would have "minimal effects" on CO2 emissions and demanded "real and significant solutions".
