The Epoch Times: NYC Mayor Eric Adams Asks to Suspend 'Right to Shelter' Rule, Citing Illegal Immigrant Influx
NYC Mayor Eric Adams Asks to Suspend 'Right to Shelter' Rule, Citing Illegal Immigrant Influx
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is seeking to suspend or modify the city’s “Right to Shelter” requirement due to the strain on shelter capacity caused by the influx of more than 65,000 illegal immigrants and asylum seekers since last year, which has led to more than 44,000 using city shelters. Adams argued in court for a new provision: “The obligations to provide shelter to both homeless adults and to adult families shall be stayed when the City … lacks the resources and capacity to … provide safe and appropriate shelter.” Most of the strain on the shelter system results from other states deliberately bussing illegal border crossers to New York City, according to Adams’ petition to the court. Last year, Texas governor Greg Abbott began bussing illegal immigrants who crossed the US southern border into Texas, primarily targeting so-called “sanctuary cities”.

While Adams has called on President Joe Biden's administration to provide New York City with federal support to address the influx of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers, he has begun his own “decompression strategy” of relocating illegal immigrants from New York City to neighboring areas of New York State. Adams has also considered converting up to 20 different school gyms into new shelter sites. The idea of using school gyms as shelters sparked protests from parents. Adams has criticized Abbott for bussing illegal border crossers to his sanctuary city. Abbott has said his bussing strategy has shone a spotlight on the hypocrisy of sanctuary cities. The end of the immigration policy had federal border officials and local leaders in border communities bracing for a potential surge in border crossings. According to DHS, the number of migrants encountered at the southern border fell by about 50 percent in the first three days after the policy ended compared to the traffic in the days leading up to the end of the policy.

Justice Gorsuch SLAMS Gov’t Collusion with Big Tech to Censor Speech
US Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch called out the US government for behaving like an "autocratic" government during the COVID-19 pandemic and for colluding with social media companies to silence free speech. He commented on a recent Supreme Court case and reflected on how easily the US government wrongfully deprived Americans of their civil liberties, and how a censored debate led to poor decision-making. He also examined the sobering results of censorship and suggested that the pandemic could have caused the most egregious civil liberties violations in modern history.

Spectator USA: DeSantis, Musk and the tech civil war behind our politics
DeSantis, Musk and the tech civil war behind our politics
Ron DeSantis launching his presidential bid with Elon Musk on Twitter is evidence of the blurring lines between politics, media, tech and entertainment. This flattening is mostly a flattening in perception, with part due to technology and tribal politics. The lines have never been perfectly neat, but they get harder to spot by the day. The most prominent example of this is Musk, who is set to play an influential role in 2024 starting now.

Former Democrat Rep. Tom Malinowski Will Not Run for His Old Seat
Former Democratic Congressman Tom Malinowski has announced he will not run next year for his old seat in the US Congress that he lost in the 2020 elections to Republican Tom Kean Jr. He remains confident a Democrat can win the seat but “that is a mountain I have climbed before and I am looking forward to climbing many new ones.” Breitbart News exposed Malinowski’s multiple tirades against parents concerned with their children’s education, which he has repeatedly dismissed as “culture bullshit.” In March 2022, Malinowski doubled down on his comments and ultimately cancelled a forum with parents and students.

The Corner: Ron DeSantis’s Veteran Appeal
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is a potential Republican presidential candidate and is unique among possible contenders as he served in Iraq as a Navy lawyer during the Iraq War and would be the first commander in chief since President George H.W. Bush to have served his country in uniform in a combat zone. DeSantis says that his military service helped him understand the sense of duty and sacrifice that is needed to be a leader and he believes that his background will be an advantage in any future presidential campaign.

The DeSantis announcement is another Elon Musk power move
Ron DeSantis announces his 2024 presidential entrance on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk, an unconventional move designed to bypass traditional media outlets. The live audio hosting room may face technical difficulties and potential interruptions from Trump. Musk's support for DeSantis is less about the candidate and more about making Twitter relevant again, as he aims to transform it into a longform streaming media platform. This move signals a shift away from traditional media and towards tech and Silicon Valley.

Tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and talk radio host Larry Elder have also announced their Republican nomination bids. Haley released a “five-point policy plan” to assist American veterans. Her plan includes holding the VA Accountable, increasing access to healthcare, tackling mental healthcare, supporting veterans from start-to-finish, and making veterans proud of their service.

Hillary Clinton Blurts Out the Quiet Part About the Democrats' Elder Abuse of Dianne Feinstein
Hillary Clinton suggests that Dianne Feinstein shouldn't retire from the US Senate due to the need for judges to be confirmed; Republicans will not agree to add someone else to the Judiciary Committee if she retires. Clinton argued that Feinstein has been unable to retire due to her seniority and the importance of judges being confirmed by the Democratic majority in the Senate. Republicans need to "say and do the decent thing and say, well this woman was gravely ill, she had just lost her husband to cancer... of course we will let you fill this position if she retires. But they won't say that". Clinton's callous opinion highlights that Dianne Feinstein's health and well-being are second to woke Democrat nominees getting shoved through the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The discussion occurred during an episode of Kelly's podcast, where she also questioned the viability of Senator Tim Scott's entry into the 2024 Republican presidential primary. Hillary Clinton also recently noted that Biden's age could be an issue for voters in the upcoming election.

Goldberg warns that “gay folks” will rise up and fight for their rights just like they did in 1975 when Anita Bryant sparked a movement. She believes everyone is entitled to the same rights regardless of their race, gender, or sexual orientation.

No Need to Rethink the Conservative Stance toward Labor Unions
Conservatives should stick to the Taft–Hartley consensus when it comes to organized labor, according to Michael Watson of the Capital Research Center. This consensus has been successful both economically and politically in exerting the fair governance of labor unions. Despite declining membership, unions still command significant political resources, which push for left-wing social policy and bigger government. In opposition to the "Mandate for Leadership"'s labor section, conservatives should be careful to extend the "Taft-Hartley consensus" that reflects freedom of association and limits the potential damage that labor disputes can cause the broader economy and the American consumer.

The study found 85% believe their home is in “dire need” of some updating, with the average homeowner planning to spend at least $1,753 on their upcoming projects.

Johnson told MyNorthwest that the office needs new leadership going forward and only wants the best for the office to continue its work in the name of equity.

Meet the R18, Ukraine’s formidable night strike drone transforming the battlefield
Ukrainian-made R18 bombing drone, developed by NGO Aerorozvidka, has been inflicting significant losses on the Russian military, incurring $670 in damage for every dollar spent by the Russian army. Equipped with a thermal imager, the drone can carry and drop explosives on military equipment and other tactical targets. Before being deployed to the front lines, each drone is thoroughly tested on a training ground to eliminate any potential issues. The drone has already established a reputation for its capabilities since 2019. Russia’s use of electronic countermeasures makes the current Russo-Ukrainian war more intense, which necessitates regular changes in tactics to adapt to ever-evolving conditions.

The issue is over Mulvaney, a transgender woman, who posted a video promotion for Bud Light to her Instagram followers. The controversy has had a knock-on effect on Anheuser-Busch's shares, which have underperformed those of rivals since the start of April.

The turning point came when in the early '70s, the fan saw the couple play & was blown away by the phenomenal sound they delivered. Despite a troubled relationship with her abusive husband, who died in 2007, and a difficult start in life, Turner went on to become an international star, and the only female artist to have won Grammys in pop, rock, and R&B.

The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) failed to get a two-thirds majority to pass a deal that would have opened the door for 12.5% of the Bundesliga’s international media rights to be sold to an external investor. The DFL had planned to create a new company, DFL MediaCo GmbH & Co. Fan opposition and open opposition by certain clubs were seen as contributing factors, but this may lead to future fragmentation between Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.

'Women Are in Jeopardy' When Men Infiltrate Their Locker Rooms and Sports, Says Activist Riley Gaines
Women's sports and locker rooms are being threatened by men who identify as women, and women's rights activists, like Riley Gaines, are fighting to maintain that a man cannot be a woman only because he says he feels like one. Some states now have laws to protect women's spaces and sports, and on May 18, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives in Texas passed a bill to keep women's sports for women only, rather than allowing men who identify as women to participate. The state's Republican-controlled Senate has also passed the bill. Similarly, Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis signed two bills into law on May 17 to protect women's spaces and girls' high school sports from being infiltrated by men and boys identifying as women. These activists fear the systemic erasure of women, even outside of sports, and are campaigning to ensure that no woman has to compete against men again.
