Daily Wire: Senior FBI Counterintel Official Stuns Lawmakers With Admission On Durham Report
FBI Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence, Jill Murphy, shocked GOP members of Congress by testifying that she has not read or been briefed on special counsel John Durham's report on the FBI probe into alleged links between Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia. Murphy admitted that she hadn't read the report due to a lack of time, though she intends to get to it. Some members of the subcommittee took the opportunity to talk about Durham's report during a hearing focused on Chinese Communist Party "aggression." Although Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) offered a negative critique of the Durham inquiry, Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) said the report was "devastating" to the FBI and should be of "grave concern" to Murphy in particular because of her role.
Breitbart: Trump Shreds DeSantis on Entitlement Programs: He 'Can't Win the General Election'
Former President Donald Trump criticized Governor Ron DeSantis, claiming he cannot win the general election and nomination due to his votes to overhaul entitlement programs during his time in Congress. The Trump-aligned super PAC MAGA Inc has been critical of DeSantis regarding votes on entitlement programs, suggesting he has "pudding fingers" all over senior entitlements and voted to cut Social Security three times. Trump also accused DeSantis of being a disciple of Representative Paul Ryan and needing a personality transplant. The posts come as DeSantis is set to launch his presidential bid during a conversation with Twitter CEO Elon Musk on the social media platform.
Washington Free Beacon: Conservative Americans Are Participating in Democracy, AP Warns
Conservatives are seizing control of local boards and commissions to gain oversight of elections and many are altering lessons on race and social injustice in schools. Democrats and liberals are making innovations in self-governance, such as in Seattle with volunteer medics and drag performers being named as the first drag laureate in San Francisco. Tough questions have been raised about the left's commitment to their causes, such as whether businesses and politicians embracing the Black Lives Matter movement will truly commit to fighting racism.

Forbes: Target Removes Pride Items After Conservative Firestorm—Sparking Criticism From LGBTQ Groups
Target faces backlash and boycotts from right-wing customers after unveiling its Pride product line, including a transgender-friendly swimsuit and a partnership with British brand Abprallen. Target removed some merchandise from its line after threats and confrontations with angry customers impacted team members' safety and well-being, further enraging LGBTQ supporters who felt it wrongly caved to the backlash. Right-wing critics falsely claimed that Target marketed the swimsuit towards children and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene supported a boycott of the retailer for "pushing the trans agenda on children."
Breitbart: Target Removes Pride Items from Satanist Designer After Backlash
Target has removed two pride-themed items associated with the satanist designer Abprallen from its stores after receiving backlash for offering products for children and transgender adults with “tuck-friendly” and “light-binding” effects. The designer identifies as a transgender gay man and pays homage to the satanic figure Baphomet, claiming that “Satan respects pronouns.” Following criticism, Target said some items were under review, but no decision had been made. A call previously took place, resulting in Target stores moving the pride section to smaller spaces at the back of the store.
Human Events: LIBBY EMMONS: Target falls for glamor of evil, partners with
Satanic LGBTQ brand for Pride month whose founder thinks Baphomet
is ‘charming’
Target sold merchandise from an LGBTQ brand called AB Prallen, which promotes Satanism through pins and clothing. The brand is founded by a presumable straight woman who is a "gay trans man" and argues that Satan is misunderstood and not actually a religious figure. However, Satan is still viewed as a symbol of evil and temptation. Target has removed the AB Prallen merchandise due to its disturbing content.
The Epoch Times: Gavin Newsom Criticizes Target For 'Selling Out' LGBT Community
Target faced backlash on social media for its promotion of an "LGBT Pride" collection, which included items intended for children. The company first relocated Pride month displays to less prominent corners and then reportedly removed some of the controversial merchandise altogether. California Governor Gavin Newsom criticised the retail giant's handling of the criticism and accused the CEO of "selling out the LGBTQ+ community to extremists." Target claimed that it had to remove the items due to threats affecting its employees' sense of safety and well-being while at work. Newsom has had trouble with national retailers prioritising business over progressive social goals.

The Epoch Times: Opposition MPs Want to Hear From Johnston After He Decided Against Foreign Interference Inquiry
Opposition leaders in Canada are urging to hear the testimony of David Johnston, Special Rapporteur for foreign interference after he recommended not to hold a public inquiry into Chinese interference in Canadian elections. The members have referred to the decision as a "slap in the face to diaspora groups" and the PROC will meet to debate and vote on the motion to call him to testify. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had appointed Johnston to investigate interference and provide recommendations, including holding a public inquiry. However, Johnston, after his first report, stated that holding an inquiry would be inappropriate, causing Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre to call it a "cover-up."

Forbes: Why LIV Golfers Will Continue To Shine In The Majors

Traditional golf tours like the PGA Tour have banned LIV players and their performances no longer count for world ranking points, but research shows that athletes often become more motivated to win when they are overlooked or written off. LIV golfers have already shown exceptional performance in the first two major tournaments this year despite facing criticism, and the harsh backlash towards LIV and its players has resulted in an elevated desire to excel and a need to succeed among LIV players.

The Economist: Why Venetians are pondering raising their entire city
Venice's flood barrier, MOSE, may not last as long as hoped due to climate change and sinking of the city. The barrier is made up of 78 hinged steel floodgates that run along the sea floor and cost around €150,000 each time it is raised. Raising the barrier disrupts maritime traffic and causes environmental issues, and the system is only used when tides exceed 110cm. Rising sea levels will make these downsides more apparent, and scientists are proposing seawater injection underground to pump up Venice's sandy subsoils and raise the land.
The Economist: Parenting can be bad for the kids.
Parents raising their offspring upclose by doting them has a genetic downside: mutations, which may make it difficult to revert to a less nurturing approach. Researchers from the University of Cambridge studied burying beetles that live a relatively short lifespan and pursue a strategy of parental care. They found that species that don't have parental care over many generations end up with healthier genomes, while the ones whose ancestors were pampered suffered from extinction when subjected to inbreeding. The scientists point out that a few mutations are helpful, and speculate that a species full of helicopter parents might expose its young to more of the good mutations.

The Federalist: Dobbs Momentum Led States To Pass Popular Pro-Life Laws
Several Republican-led states have passed pro-life laws in recent months. In Florida, the state devotes $25 million dollars to supporting mothers, babies, and lifesaving pregnancy centres while banning abortion beyond six weeks gestation. In Kansas, the born-alive law requires medical professionals to provide the same standard of care for babies born during a botched abortion as they would for a child during a normal birth. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed into law bills that ban abortion beginning at 24 weeks, require doctors to care for infants born alive in botched abortions, state that abortion is not protected under the Montana Constitution’s right to privacy, and shield medical providers who object to abortion from participating in one. In North Carolina, the Care for Women, Children, and Families Act bans abortion from 12 weeks gestation while supplying mothers and their babies with the resources they need to thrive, including $160 million in funding. In Nebraska, the Let Them Grow Act outlaws gender experiments on children and abortion beyond 12 weeks gestation, with exceptions for rape, incest, and cases where the mother's life is in danger. In South Carolina, Republicans passed a bill that protects unborn babies with a detectable heartbeat from abortion.
