Breitbart: Adams Seeks to Suspend NYC ‘Right to Shelter’ Rule amid Migrant Crisis
Adams Seeks to Suspend NYC ‘Right to Shelter’ Rule amid Migrant Crisis
Mayor Eric Adams seeks to suspend NYC's “right to shelter” rule to address the challenge of sheltering over 40,000 undocumented migrants with limited federal aid. This rule mandates the provision of a bed to individuals who meet certain criteria. However, Adams argues that the resource constraints and fiscal burden resulting from a "national crisis" require a waiver when insufficient shelter is available. The City has received $40 million from the federal government, but its estimated cost of sheltering these migrants through June 2024 is $4.3 billion, and Adams has requested over $650 million from President Biden's administration. The city is currently housing more than 44,000 migrants in emergency shelters or hotels.

Fox News: Prince Harry's relationship with King Charles in peril after UK court ruling: experts
Prince Harry's relationship with King Charles in peril after UK court ruling: experts
Prince Harry has lost his appeal to pay for his own police protection while in the UK, a decision which could further damage his already strained relationship with his father, King Charles III. The British government stopped providing protection for Harry and Meghan Markle after they stepped back from their senior roles in the royal family, leading to a legal battle. Justice Martin Chamberlain stated it was not appropriate to hire "police officers as private bodyguards for the wealthy". While this is a blow to the couple, another judge has allowed Harry's case to proceed challenging the decision to deny him government-paid security, which could mean British taxpayers would fund their future protection when they visit.

Dem Rep. Himes on Support for Cuts Tied to Debt Ceiling: People Only Want 'Abstract' Cuts -- Saying You Want Cuts Has Negative Impacts
Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) responded to a CNN poll on the debt ceiling, stating that Americans want to cut spending but are not willing to cut Medicare, Social Security, and defense spending. Himes believes that cuts to other areas are not meaningful. The whole polling thing is like wanting to eat ice cream without thinking about the implications, he argued.

The Epoch Times: Australian Authorities Made 4,000 Requests to Big Tech to Censor COVID-19 Content
Australian Authorities Made 4,000 Requests to Big Tech to Censor COVID-19 Content
Australia's Home Affairs Department made over 4,000 requests to U.S. tech giants to review COVID-19-related content during the pandemic years, revealing the extent to which the government attempted to control public discourse. The Department also made 9,423 "terrorist and violent extremist-related referrals" over the same period. Australian journalist Andrew Lowenthal found Twitter had worked closely with the Home Affairs department on censoring dissenting content. Lowenthal discovered 18 emails requesting 222 Twitter posts be removed.

The Department of Home Affairs rarely provided evidence for their counter-claims and where they do, they rely on "fact-checking" organizations like Yahoo! and USA Today, rather than on Australia's own scientists. Big Tech has become a control point for authorities. The Twitter files were released after the takeover of the social media giant by tech billionaire Elon Musk, revealing the platform had suppressed or removed content on a range of issues including irregularities in the 2020 elections, Hunter Biden's laptop, and the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fox News: Teachers take AI concerns into their own hands amid warning tech poses 'greatest threat' to schools
Teachers take AI concerns into their own hands amid warning tech poses 'greatest threat' to schools
Educational leaders in the United Kingdom are forming their own advisory board to provide guidance on the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) in the education sector. While Education Secretary Gillian Keegan maintains AI has the potential to revolutionise lesson planning and heavy administrative workloads, teachers are concerned that they lack real-time advice and that the use of AI as a learning tool poses a "greatest threat" to schools. The coalition of teachers, which includes Epsom College and Magdalen College School, will be guided by a panel of independent AI experts. The British school system has already seen the introduction of AI in the classroom in programmes such as ChatGPT, which assists with student research, but schools are concerned that the technology could encourage cheating and misinformation.

Fox News: Artificial general intelligence in the wrong hands could do 'really dangerous stuff,' experts warn
Artificial general intelligence in the wrong hands could do 'really dangerous stuff,' experts warn
Artificial general intelligence (AGI) may offer new opportunities, but experts are warning that it could have drastic implications for white-collar workers and be potentially dangerous. AGI is defined as AI that has capabilities similar to humans, but it would need to master human skills, such as fine motor skills and natural language processing. Diveplane CEO Dr. Michael Capps compared AGI to nuclear fission, stating that in the wrong hands, it could do some really dangerous stuff. AGI could also have negative impacts on low-level white-collar workers, whose jobs may be automated due to advanced AI .

Experts have warned that AGI may be decades off, but no one knows for sure and, once it happens, it will be fast. AGI could drastically impact society if it were to fall into the wrong hands or be unregulated. However, despite the challenges posed by AGI, new opportunities would be created because of advanced AI technologies, according to Christopher Alexander, the chief communications officer of Liberty Blockchain. Nonetheless, there will likely be an "ugly gap" between AI automating certain jobs and when they are replaced with new opportunities, creating concerns during the transition period .

The majority of people, like Gabriel, don't use AI in their daily lives, but have experimented with tools like ChatGPT for fun.
