National Review: The Corner: Ron DeSantis, Elon Musk, and Short Memories in Media
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has launched his 2024 bid on Twitter alongside Elon Musk, a controversial decision that has stirred up a lot of attention. Some sources note that @NBCNews reports this is an unprecedented intervention into the political process by the private tech industry. However, there were ties between Silicon Valley and the Obama campaign before, perhaps not as public. The Obama team relied heavily on tech entrepreneur Chris Hughes, who helped create the My.BarackObama.com networking website that Obama supporters could use to plan events, rallies, and more. Additionally, Facebook's technology boosted Obama's reelection efforts by enabling the campaign to access Facebook friends if a person signed on to Dashboard through their account, granting permission. Meanwhile, DeSantis's motion has sparked debate, but it has yet to be known how it will impact his campaign chances in 2024.
The Blaze: Ted Cruz makes AOC regret snarky comment about history of US political parties: 'Dem party founded the KKK'
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ted Cruz exchanged blows over the history of political parties in the US. Cruz claimed that Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act in much higher percentages than Democrats, and that it was the Democrats who founded the KKK, wrote Jim Crow laws, and filibustered Civil Rights Acts. Ocasio-Cortez retorted by asking Cruz to explain what happened to the parties in the mid-20th century. Cruz explained that the Republican Party was founded to oppose slavery, and it was Republicans who voted for the Civil Rights Act in a much higher percentage than Democrats. The suggestion that Republicans and Democrats essentially switched parties in the 1960s with Republicans embracing racism to win the South while Democrats eschewed it is a myth.
Breitbart: South Carolina State Legislature Latest to Pass Six-Week Abortion Ban

The Federalist: GOP Sens Want Details On Russia Hoaxers’ Durham Obstruction
Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson are demanding that Special Counsel John Durham reveal why key Spygate hoaxers, including former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, did not testify about their roles in the coup against former President Donald Trump and the American people. The senators noted that information from these individuals would have been useful to Durham and the public in better understanding the actions taken against the president. Grassley and Johnson also asked if the Biden administration's DOJ impeded any of the special counsel's investigations. They gave Durham six days to respond to their inquiries.
The Epoch Times: 'Closest race in 50 years': AB Voters Flock to Early Polls
Over 161,000 voters mark ballots in Alberta's closest election race in fifty years between Danielle Smith of the United Conservative Party (UCP) and Rachel Notley of the New Democrat Party. A May 22 Abacus poll predicts 40% of respondents will vote UCP and 37% NDP with 19% undecided, while millennials, who make up the largest voting block, lead a fluid voting group. The UCP may face challenges being re-elected with a leader who has only been premier for seven months. Meanwhile, the NDP tries to identify Notley with conservatism in a traditionally right province, attributed to mass protests against PC incumbents due to scandals and corruption.
Red State: The Collective Freak-Out Over Ron DeSantis' 2024 Announcement Shows Exactly Why He's Effective

PJ Media: Kari Lake: 'We Are Going to Start Chasing Ballots Like You've Never Seen'
Kari Lake, a former news anchor and Arizona gubernatorial candidate, lost her legal battle over alleged election fraud in Maricopa County. Despite claiming to have the "strongest election case" in the country, her team failed to provide sufficient evidence of misconduct in the signature verification process for mail-in ballots. Lake announced her intention to appeal the ruling and launch the largest ballot-chasing operation in Arizona history with her organization, Save Arizona, ahead of the 2024 election. She also criticized the "rigged, corrupt system" and vowed to take her legal battle to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.

The Epoch Times: Councilman Neil Meyer Runs for Town of Wallkill Supervisor
Neil Meyer, a Democratic Wallkill Councilman and accounting professional, is running for town supervisor against incumbent Republican Supervisor George Serrano. Meyer aims to improve town financial practices and increase taxpayer money stewardship with proper internal controls and sound policies. He acknowledges Serrano's progress but deems it insufficient, while Serrano claims that town finances are in good shape and that he will fix any defects found by the state audit. Meyer supports recommendations from a risk assessment of town financial practices led by PKF O'Connor Davies and wants to tackle additional problems identified by the State Comptroller's Office.
Meyer worked with the town police department to start the Wallkill Cares program, where officers sent people struggling with addictions to care centers for help. He also supported converting the former Holiday Inn Hotel on Crystal Run to an inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation center. On a lighter note, Meyer brought the fireworks to Orange County Fairgrounds for a few years so that residents in his ward could watch them in their backyards. Meyer donates his time to local nonprofit organizations and wants to enhance town communications on social media.

The Epoch Times: Central Bankers, Economists Failed to Predict Soaring Inflation: Former Fed Chair Bernanke
Former Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke co-authored a paper with economist Olivier Blanchard explaining the inflation surge in 2021 and how the Fed misjudged the economic impact of pandemic-era fiscal programs. The paper stated that demand shifts, commodity price rises, and labour tightness drove the inflation bursts and that labour costs have become entrenched in inflationary pressures and increasing over time. Bernanke and Blanchard assert the Fed has more work to do to curb inflation. The paper discusses the Fed's 2% target rate, which could be reached if labour market slack falls below one over the next two years. The unemployment rate is currently at 3.4%.

The Epoch Times: Cortisol Isn't a Sinister Hormone, Here's Why
Low cortisol levels can result in harmful health consequences, from prolonged sickness to memory decline. Cortisol plays a crucial role in regulating the stress response, moderating the immune system, and facilitating protein and glucose homeostasis. However, its absence due to adrenal gland dysfunction can be potentially deadly. Low cortisol levels have been associated with chronic fatigue syndrome and memory decline in older adults, and high cortisol levels can be harmful as well. Practicing good sleep habits and consuming nutrient-dense foods like zinc, vitamin A, magnesium, vitamin C, and sodium can help maintain healthy cortisol levels.

Fox News: NASA's Webb Space Telescope, Chandra team up for stunning composite images
NASA released four composite images of galaxies, a nebula, and a star cluster created by combining data from the James Webb Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray Observatory. The images are visible thanks to mapping the X-rays and infrared data to colors that humans can perceive. Among the cosmic wonders captured in the images are "barred" spiral galaxies NGC 1672 and Messier 74, star cluster NGC 346, and the famous Eagle Nebula, also known as the "Pillars of Creation."
Webb data shows that water is present in the mysterious main belt comet, while data from the Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes, European Space Agency XMM-Newton, and the European Southern Observatory's New Technology Telescope were also used. Fictional private investigator Philip Marlowe might have said that the four cosmic wonders offer a glimpse into the dark corners of the universe beyond our understanding.

Forbes: Insiders Look To Burden Hunting And Fishing Guides With New Red Tape
Michigan lawmakers are considering a new license for hunting and fishing guides, which would create new red tape and costs. The new license would also categorically ban anyone with a felony conviction from getting a license. While proponents argue that this would add credibility to the industry, opponents argue that consumers do not put much stock in licenses and that the license would move Michigan in the opposite direction from where it has been headed in the past few years. The push for the license is seen as classic gatekeeping by insiders, and Michigan lawmakers should reject attempts to license guides this session.

Ford has reversed its decision to remove AM radio functionality from its upcoming electric and gasoline-powered vehicles following concerns that doing so would harm the government’s ability to issue emergency alerts. Other automakers, including General Motors and BMW, have also eliminated AM radios from some of their vehicles. Ford has pledged to install AM radio in all its new vehicles and to offer a free software update to owners of its EVs without the system.

Fox News: Federal court deals blow to ATF pistol brace rule ahead of gun accessory registration deadline
A federal appeals court temporarily blocked the Biden administration from enforcing new regulations on pistols with stabilizing braces, which the president called "especially dangerous." Gun rights groups had challenged the regulation, which requires owners of guns with stabilizing braces to register them, destroy them, or remove them from their weapons. The Firearms Policy Coalition has called the rule "onerous and unconstitutional," and the stabilizing brace rule was introduced in response to mass shootings in Colorado and Ohio. The court's decision applied only to the plaintiffs in the case, and it is unclear who is covered by the injunction.
