Liberty Nation: Illegal Alien Violent Crime Is the Surge Mostly Ignored
Recent murders by illegal aliens in the United States highlight the continuing problem of crimes committed by those who should not be in the country. Despite vows of action and promises of change, the situation has remained the same as innocent Americans continue to be victimized. The situation is particularly heinous as these crimes could have been prevented if immigration laws had been enforced.
Immigration officials allowed an MS-13 gang member, who was involved in the rape and murder of a young woman, into the United States in March 2021. Similarly, another illegal immigrant was charged with raping a 15-year-old girl and a woman days later in Maryland. Despite promises of action being made and headlines highlighting the issue, the problem persists, with states even routinely giving out driver’s licenses to illegals. Meanwhile, the families of victims and the dead are left to suffer in silence, as the news cycle moves on.

Fox News: Biden draws criticism as he repeats false claim that son Beau died in Iraq: 'Continued mangling of the truth'
President Biden told Marines during a stop in Japan that his son Beau died in Iraq. The president visited Japan this month for the G7 Leaders' summit. Biden is drawing criticism from media online for making "puzzling" statements about Beau on several occasions.
Daily Wire: Nebraska Becomes 18th State To Ban Transgender Surgeries On Children
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen signed a bill banning transgender surgeries on minors and most abortions at 12 weeks, making it the 18th state to pass such laws. The "Let Them Grow Act" comes after a bill banning abortion at six weeks failed by one vote. The law does not specify that cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers are banned, but gives power to the state's medical officer to regulate them. Missouri and Texas have advanced similar measures, while North and South Carolina lawmakers are considering such proposals. The ACLU of Nebraska said the law would harm "vulnerable communities," while judges have blocked similar measures in Arkansas and Alabama and the president's Department of Justice has filed suit against Tennessee.

The New American: Bud Light (in the Brain?) Launches Camouflage Bottle to Battle “Trans” Controversy - The New American
Beer maker Anheuser-Busch's efforts to combat its boycott have only made things worse. The company's partnership with MUSS "influencer" Dylan Mulvaney, a man who masquerades as a woman, inspired a backlash and boycott. The company began bleeding Bud Light customers and an über-patriotic commercial inspired mockery. Now, in response to Mulvaney controversies, the company will temporarily redesign their aluminum bottles with camouflage print in an effort to boost sales. Critics wonder if the camouflaged intentions are AB’s efforts to play “both sides" and make money.
AB's decision to prove that there is bad press was its first mistake, as it alienated a good part of its market. AB sided with not the street but the pseudo-elite even though the street is their market. Societally, our prevailing relativism makes it difficult to agree on what is trouble. What we do agree on is that beer manufacturers should make beer, not trouble. Despite this, AB has compounded its mistakes, and the company's efforts to combat the boycott against it have only made things worse.
The Epoch Times: The Dark Truth About Finland’s Happiness
Why is Finland known as the happiest country when it has one of the highest suicide rates, drug overdose deaths, and increasing rates of depression and anxiety? Rainn Wilson's new show, "Geography of Bliss," explores the pursuit of happiness in different countries but doesn't include a trip to Finland. The World Happiness Report is based on life evaluations rather than actual happiness, and Daniel Kahneman notes that satisfaction is a more permanent state of mind. The Finns may be satisfied because their expectations are realistic, and they value satisfaction over happiness hustle.
Spectator USA: Prince Harry’s stinging defeat in British court
Prince Harry lost a court case involving his personal security. The High Court ruled that the Home Office's decision not to allow Harry to pay police to protect him in the UK is fair and legal, as it would set a dangerous precedent. The defeat will embolden those who believe Harry's litigious tendencies have gone too far and will remind Harry of the consequences of shifting his life from being a well-protected working royal to someone subject to the same laws and difficulties as the rest of us.

The Epoch Times: Beijing Has More Diplomats in Montreal Alone Than All of France: Federal Figures
China has more diplomats in Canada than in any other country except the USA, according to figures released by Global Affairs Canada, which lists all active foreign diplomats in Canada. According to this data, 138 Chinese diplomats were accredited in Canada, while 161 US diplomats were listed. Of these 138, 18 were in Montreal, compared to five French officials, including the consul general. Despite concerns expressed by some experts in Canadian political circles, China’s embassy in Canada has dismissed suggestions that Beijing’s diplomats are involved in influence peddling, disinformation and coercion.

The Epoch Times: US Housing Market in Ongoing Monthly Decline
The US housing market is declining with mortgage applications dropping by 11% in April 2023 compared to March. Existing-home sales also fell 3.4% from March to 4.28 million in April 2023. Meanwhile, the Conference Board’s Leading Economic Index (LEI) fell for the thirteenth consecutive month in April, signaling that the country is potentially headed toward a recession or may already be in one. This decline is happening as mortgage rates remain elevated, and median-priced single-family homes and condos were less affordable in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the historical averages in 94% of American counties.
The declining sales of existing homes and mortgage applications can be attributed to limited job gains, fluctuating mortgage rates, and unsold inventory resulting in high home ownership costs. High home prices, coupled with elevated mortgage rates, mean that buying a house makes no more financial sense to many people. Signs of the American economy heading into a recession have strengthened, with the Conference Board’s Leading Economic Index (LEI) falling for the thirteenth consecutive month in April. The indicator’s value is now greater than it was in November 2007 before the subprime crisis when the probability of recession was just 40%.
Red State: No Matter What Happens, Biden and the Democrats Already Lost on the Debt Ceiling
Democrats are losing the debt ceiling negotiation as Biden agrees to meet with Republicans. They didn't want to tie cuts to the debt ceiling increase, but Biden's move does just that. Americans are split over who to blame for the impending economic disaster. Republicans, for the first time in a long time, are driving the narrative. The Democrats have vastly underestimated the Republican caucus in the House. Biden's options are limited, and he has already lost the negotiation. The Republicans have started to pick fights and are drifting further to the right as an institution.
The Epoch Times: Go Bankless With a Cash-Only Lifestyle
More Americans are opting to go bankless due to recent bank collapses and a desire for decentralized finance (DeFi). Going cash-only can help individuals stay debt-free and manage their budgets through an envelope system, but it requires careful planning, a considerable emergency fund, and a digital wallet for storing cryptocurrency. However, there are risks to going bankless, such as the lack of insurance on money kept at home and the high volatility of crypto. Additionally, credit cards provide protection and help build credit scores, which offer many benefits in today's society.

The Epoch Times: Australia Comes out on Top of New Zealand in Manuka Honey Trademark Dispute
New Zealand has lost a decade-long bid to trademark the term "manuka honey" after the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office rejected an application. The Manuka Honey Appellation Society argued that the term manuka is an English loan word adopted from the Maori word mānuka and therefore should be owned as a trademark by New Zealand, but the Australian Manuka Honey Association opposed the move, arguing that the manuka honey products made in Australia are genuine. While the manuka plant is native to both countries, the ruling said that manuka is a descriptive term indicating honey made from the manuka plant and lacks enough distinctiveness to warrant a trademark.

The Federalist Papers: Disney's ‘The Little Mermaid’ Reboot Set to Be a Record Flop for Hollywood: Report
Disney's live-action reboot of "The Little Mermaid" may face epic flop in China as pre-sales figures tank, earning just $13,000 for its opening weekend. The film generated controversy over Disney's unusual casting decision of Halle Bailey as Ariel, a role traditionally portrayed as a blue-eyed, fair-skinned mermaid. Despite generating more than 108 million global views within 24 hours of its first trailer release, the initial signs look grim for the film's success in China, which may translate to disastrous box office numbers.

The Epoch Times: China Facing a New Wave of COVID-19 Infections
Chinese officials have warned that a new wave of COVID-19 infections is likely to peak in late June, where weekly cases could reach 65 million. However, citizens have responded on social media that the new wave of infection has already hit China. The new wave of COVID-19 is mainly caused by the XBB series mutant strains of Omicron which have stronger transmission and immune escape abilities. Citizens are reporting severe symptoms and reinfections.

Forbes: The Farcical Juventus Points Debacle Proves Calcio Is Not Back
Serie A may have produced six quarter finalists in Europe, but chaos still reigns supreme. Juventus received a fresh 10-point deduction less than an hour before their match with Empoli, causing fury from manager Max Allegri. The verdict is thought to have influenced their performance, and spurred a feeling in Italy that the season may be "falsified". Mourinho also believes Roma's final games have been affected, with two remaining and Juventus out of the picture creating an opportunity for a Champions League qualification. Such scandals could damage the league's chances of securing €1.2bn per-season for its TV rights, given the league's self-destructive tendencies.

The Epoch Times: Judge Throws out Shareholder Lawsuit Against Elon Musk Over Twitter Buyout
A judge dismissed an attempted class-action lawsuit against Elon Musk, claiming he cheated Twitter shareholders after buying the firm for $44bn. The judge said the plaintiff did not have standing to bring the case, as they were alleging wrongdoing after the buyout, rather than challenging the buyout's fairness. The judge also found no proof that Musk helped two Twitter board friends breach their duties by favouring their and Musk's interests.
