Fox News: House Judiciary report faults Biden admin for release of alleged MS-13 member now charged with murder
House Judiciary Committee Republicans blame the Biden administration’s “failure to enforce US immigration law” for the murder and sexual assault of a 20-year-old autistic woman in Maryland, allegedly by a 16-year-old illegal immigrant and member of the MS-13 gang who had been released into the US. The report concludes that the suspect had been insufficiently vetted by Alejandro Mayorkas and his department, and warns that the administration’s open borders policies have created vulnerabilities that criminal aliens and gang members exploit to the detriment of American citizens. The report says that the administration failed to implement basic screening and vetting measures such as checking with law enforcement officials in an alien’s home country to ensure that those entering the US are not dangerous criminals or known gang members. It adds that the Biden administration has relaxed vetting procedures, which has allowed an “explosion” of minors being put into the labor force.

The Epoch Times: Judge Rules Against Kari Lake in Election Lawsuit, Confirms Katie Hobbs as Arizona Governor
Kari Lake’s legal challenge to Arizona’s last gubernatorial contest has been dismissed by an Arizona judge, who confirmed the election of Democrat Katie Hobbs. Lake’s team failed to provide enough evidence that Maricopa County did not verify signatures on mail-in ballots in accordance with the law. Lake alleged that Maricopa County failed to perform signature verification on hundreds of thousands of early ballots correctly during the November 2022 midterms. The judge ruled that there was not enough evidence of misconduct and confirmed Hobbs’s election.

The Federalist: Majority Of Americans Know Media's Favorite Narratives Are Fake
A recent Harvard/Harris poll shows that the majority of Americans disagree with corporate media narratives, including the allegations of Russia collusion and false Steele dossier. Most voters believe in the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop, think Hunter was involved in illegal activities and tax evasion, and have doubts about President Biden's mental fitness and age. The poll also reveals concerns about interference by the FBI and intelligence agencies in presidential elections, and a need for government reform.
American Thinker: DeSantis is right on Disney
Disney's cancelled investment in Florida has caused controversy, with Democrats criticizing Governor DeSantis for the state's ban on teaching sexual orientation and gender identity. Governor DeSantis argues that Florida should not subsidize Disney's free speech. He has taken legal action to put Disney's special district under state control, a move that Disney is fighting. However, DeSantis's policies have boosted Florida's economy, with over 1,000 new residents per day, the lowest unemployment rate of any major state, and the highest growth rate.
The loss of Disney's $1 billion investment represents the first of two rounding errors - Florida is attracting more people and wealth than the investment would have provided. Meanwhile, the income added to Florida in 2020 alone was $23.5 billion, making the cancelled investment seem small in comparison. Republicans Pence, Haley, and Trump have criticized DeSantis for losing the investment opportunity, but their claims have highlighted DeSantis's economic successes. It has also raised questions about their stance on Disney being treated like any other company and living by the laws of the state.

An Alberta woman who refused COVID-19 vaccination has won the right to have her case for Employment Insurance benefits reconsidered. Amanda Michaud, who worked for Alberta Health Services, was placed on unpaid leave during the pandemic due to her non-compliance with her employer's vaccination policy. Although the leave was not disciplinary, the Canada Employment Insurance Commission decided that Michaud was not entitled to benefits, arguing that her suspension was for "misconduct." However, the Social Security Tribunal of Canada's Appeal Division ruled in Michaud's favor, stating she has more evidence and arguments to present.

Fox News: Rural Texas Republicans fight school choice and here's why that's a surprise
Texas lawmakers are facing off over school choice with Gov. Greg Abbott pushing for education savings accounts, which have already passed in the state Senate. However, some rural Republican politicians in the House oppose the bill, which would allow parents to choose where to send their children to school with the help of funds from the state. These politicians argue that the bill would take funds away from their local schools. This resistance is stunting the development of school choice in Texas.
Some House Republicans, including Reps. Ken King, Gary VanDeaver, Drew Darby and Ernest Bailes, who argue against school choice citing their schools' success, represent Texas districts where less than half of students are performing at or above grade level in reading or math. All opponents have failed to acknowledge that the proposed bill ensures that rural area school districts receive more money per student, and also provides an increase in teacher salary. School choice has been proven to be successful in other states, where there are improvements in testing due to increased competition. The resistance of rural Republican legislators is stunting the development of school choice in Texas.

Schmidhuber, who is working on developing an Artificial General Intelligence within his lifetime, believes that existing laws are sufficient to deal with potential dangers from AI weapons and that government intervention would be ineffective because nations have different opinions on what is good for them. He argues that AI has been developed to make people happier and to improve human life and health.
