The Federalist: House GOP Could Block Dems' Efforts To Thwart Whistleblower
House GOP Could Block Dems' Efforts To Thwart Whistleblower
Attorneys of Hunter Biden’s Internal Revenue Service supervisory special agent have urged House Republicans to use Section 6103(f)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code to bypass Senate Democrats interfering with the agent’s testimony. The Senate Finance Committee has refused to consider a joint interview with the whistleblower and missed a chance for the agent to testify within a day of already scheduled testimony with the House Ways and Means Committee. Designating Senate staffers as agents for the House Ways and Means Committee would allow the whistleblower a bipartisan testimony.

Biden and McCarthy Dance the Debt Limit Tango
President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have failed to come to a compromise on the issue of the nation's spiraling debt. With no signs of progress, options are limited for both leaders, except for public gambits to deflect fault. One such gambit from Democrats is invoking the 14th Amendment, which legal experts have disputed and would grant spending powers solely to Congress.

American Thinker: Trump SuperPAC has already spent more money attacking DeSantis than spent on backing GOP candidates in the 2022 midterms
Trump SuperPAC has already spent more money attacking DeSantis than spent on backing GOP candidates in the 2022 midterms
MAGA, Inc. attacks Republican Governor DeSantis with a barrage of negative ads, despite Ronald Regan's eleventh commandment. The well-funded SuperPAC claims that DeSantis' past views on entitlement reform are a weakness heading into 2024, but the ads are heavily distorted and offer ammunition to the Democrats.

National Review: Biden’s 14th Amendment Folly
Biden’s 14th Amendment Folly
President Biden may invoke a unilateral action to continue borrowing without the consent of Congress, to prevent a financial meltdown that could cripple the American and global economies, amid ongoing debt-ceiling talks. House Republicans have passed a bill to extend the government's borrowing authority, including spending restraint, debt reduction, and work requirements for welfare, but negotiations may come to naught. Progressives argue that the Public Debt Clause is set forth in Section 4 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which declares that the "validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law ... shall not be questioned," and they believe that the Constitution forbids default. However, the presidential debt power is a misreading of the Constitution by ascribing to the president the powers over debt that only Congress can exercise, and it would undermine the American constitutional tradition.

Liberty Nation: What Does Tim Scott Bring to the Table?
What Does Tim Scott Bring to the Table?
Republican Senator Tim Scott has announced his candidacy for president. He is promoting his campaign with a message of optimism, which may prove a tough sell given a Gallup poll revealing that there has been an 18% drop in optimists since 2019, which could be due to the current economic conditions. However, Scott believes his positive message remains authentic to him and his experience in America. His campaign slogan is “Faith in America,” which he believes represents triumph over hardship represented through his Christian faith, and he credits for much of his political success.

German intelligence chief Bruno Kahl sees no threat to Putin's system and believes it is currently stable. Public criticism of Russia's warfare methods represents common disagreements, but in no way a threat to the system. Kahl emphasized that Russia is still capable of waging war, with new conscripts, weapons, and ammunition.

American Thinker: Thanks, Joe: Biden's price cap on drugs is bringing shortages -medical expert
Thanks, Joe: Biden's price cap on drugs is bringing shortages -medical expert
The Inflation Reduction Act in Joe Biden's America is bringing new heights in medical drug shortages, particularly in the critical area of cancer chemotherapy treatments. The majority of these shortages are around sterile injectable drugs, and the reimbursement for these drugs under government programs has been driven down very low. The federal government capping the cost of certain drugs will "exacerbate" current drug shortages. Price controls create shortages, and with Joe Biden's garbage Inflation Reduction Act, he just cut off patients' access to life-saving medicine.

Fox News: Michigan man charged with manslaughter after his girlfriend's 2-year-old son found gun, fatally shot himself
Michigan man charged with manslaughter after his girlfriend's 2-year-old son found gun, fatally shot himself
Markus Nevills Jr. has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after his girlfriend's 2-year-old son shot himself with a gun he found in a couch at their apartment in Kentwood, Michigan. Nevills objected to being charged, stating that he didn't shoot and kill the toddler and was "trying to see how they’re saying this is my fault." Prosecutors claimed Nevills was grossly negligent, as he had zoned out on marijuana while the child found the gun. The incident has led Michigan to pass a red flag law that will require gun owners to store firearms in locked boxes if children are present.

National Review: Early Primary States Side with DeSantis on Pro-Life Laws
Early Primary States Side with DeSantis on Pro-Life Laws
South Carolina passed a bill prohibiting most abortions at six weeks after conception, with the expectation that Republican Governor Henry McMaster will sign it into law. If the bill passes, South Carolina will become the second early primary state to enact a heartbeat bill after Iowa. Despite Republican momentum in favor of protective pro-life laws, former President Donald Trump has criticized them as “too harsh.” Leaders of top pro-life groups have stood by their support for heartbeat laws at the state level. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, has previously criticized Trump for his pro-life stance, but a recent meeting with Trump and other pro-life policymakers has suggested that the former president is becoming more open to a federal pro-life law that includes exceptions for life of the mother and cases of rape and incest. In five gubernatorial races in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas, Republican governors who signed pro-life laws in their previous term won re-election widely, despite significant criticism from Democratic candidates and media outlets.
