National Review: The Busing of Migrants Has Worked
Democratic mayors of sanctuary cities are facing the real-world consequences of Joe Biden's border crisis as buses of migrants are arriving in their cities. Outgoing Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot declared a state of emergency when 0.29% of the population was made up of migrants from Texas. New York City mayor Eric Adams has also expressed frustration at the migrant crisis, estimating that caring for the new migrants will cost the city $3 billion next year. Democratic mayors and governors should direct their ire at President Biden, says the author, as his de facto open border policy is responsible for the surge in illegal immigration.

The Federalist: NYC's Vegan Totalitarianism Shows Climate Alarmism's Direction
New York City Mayor Eric Adams plans to place caps on the amount of meat and dairy served by city institutions to cut food-related carbon emissions by 33 percent by 2030. This move aligns him with the radical left's Green New Deal and Great Reset agenda, which aims to phase out meat and dairy consumption. While data collection on food consumption is currently only for research purposes, it has the potential to become coercive if the city government imposes more regulations on businesses and individuals that make it harder to purchase meat and dairy products. This misplaced priority draws attention to the fact that New York City continues its decline and faces issues such as increasing crime, unsafe subways, and out-of-control homelessness, that pose a far more pressing threat.

The Epoch Times: Dominic Raab to Stand Down as MP at Next Election
Dominic Raab, a key ally of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, has confirmed his plans to stand down as an MP at the next general election. Raab, who resigned as deputy prime minister and justice secretary in April over bullying allegations, will not contest his Esher and Walton seat, which he has held since 2010. Raab cited concerns about the pressure on his family as being behind his decision. His seat is a key target for the Liberal Democrats at the next national poll. Raab joins a slew of senior Conservative politicians, including former chancellor Sajid Javid and ex-environment secretary George Eustice, announcing their exit plans amid a polling slump.
Fox News: Prince Harry loses legal challenge to pay for police protection while in the UK
Prince Harry lost a legal battle to make personal payments for his security to UK police. The government did not allow this practice, considering it as purchasing security.
Washington Free Beacon: The NAACP Says Florida Isn't Safe for Black People. Data Tell a Different Story.
The NAACP warns black Americans to avoid Florida, citing racist policies. However, black Floridians have lower unemployment, higher income, and lower rates of hate crimes and police killings than in other states. In fact, minorities are more likely to be victims of hate crimes in liberal states like California.
The Federalist: Other Red States Should Follow Florida's Legislative Blueprint
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state's Republican-controlled legislature are working to make their state the most conservative in the nation. Florida Republicans are implementing laws on a weekly basis aimed at defeating leftists' counter to sanity and the American experiment. The state's blueprint should be replicated by other red states to protect the country's freedoms and livelihoods.
DeSantis signed a series of bills aimed at protecting children from leftist indoctrination and perversion. The bills prohibit school officials from instructing children in sexual orientation and gender identity, enabling the state to fine and suspend the license of establishments with sexually explicit performances, and ban harmful transgender procedures and puberty blockers for minors. This state's framework for success can be applied by other Republican states seeking refuge from the government-induced tyranny in blue states.
American Thinker: Durham and the truth

National Review: Allying with Papua New Guinea, &c.
The US has signed a new security pact with Papua New Guinea, as it seeks to challenge China's growing influence in the region. This follows the Solomon Islands' signing of a security pact with China last year, which raised concern in the Pacific. While China cannot compete with the US on the level of values, superpower competition continues.
Using gendered pronouns in emails has led to two dorm directors being fired at a New York Christian college, highlighting the ongoing "pronouns war". With a young woman of his acquaintance recently becoming a "they", author Jay Nordlinger ponders whether this is an example of the Bible quote "My name is Legion: for we are many". Nordlinger also questions Robert F Kennedy Jr's legitimacy in the Democratic presidential primaries, speculating whether all of the positive comments he has received came from Republicans.

The Federalist: Ukraine War Fetishist David French Is Lecturing You From Kiev
New York Times columnist David French writes from Ukraine on the importance of supplying them with American-made fighter jets, claiming it will enhance their military capabilities without significantly increasing the risk of conflict with Russia. French, who is in Ukraine, acknowledges the corruption present but tries to alleviate concerns by stating that Ukrainian leaders believe they need advanced fighters for the conflict with Russia. He also claims that the F-16 will only present a substantial threat to the Russian invasion and not to Russia itself, making it a wise decision to supply Ukraine with the advanced weapons.

Washington Free Beacon: America’s Missile Defense System Is in Tatters, Government Report Finds
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency's radar and missile interceptor systems are failing to keep up with threats from foreign adversaries like China, Iran, and North Korea. A report by the Government Accountability Office found the agency repeatedly failed to upgrade its equipment due to supply-line issues and a developmental backlog. The agency's shortcomings leave the United States vulnerable to incoming missile threats, and the $194 billion invested by the Department of Defense since 2002 has not been enough to keep pace with evolving threats. The Missile Defense Agency "conducted less than half of its planned fiscal year 2022 testing," leaving America's missile defense systems behind.

National Review: The Governor’s Gambit
California Governor Gavin Newsom's policy preferences represent a blend of income redistribution with an authoritarian "green" agenda, financed by the state's richest citizens. To sustain its terroir, California's political future relies on the wealthy's ability and willingness to fund a Peron-style welfare state, which has given the state the highest welfare spending and taxes in the country. However, disastrous policies such as "climate-friendly" housing have left newly constructed homes largely outlawed, and companies are finding it increasingly challenging to stay in the state due to the growing regulation. As a result, many of the rewards of innovation are going elsewhere, and even EV-battery plants - much of them nurtured by California - are relocating to other states.
Newsom's policies have resulted in an ever-widening class divide, leaving nearly one in five Californians living in poverty and causing the middle-class family to head elsewhere. However, Newsom's rhetoric about social justice has very little to do with the reality of his policies, which include the Bolshevik-like Marxist influence on Californian high-schoolers, white oppression-focused ethnic studies curriculum, and Peronist blue welfare state. The governor has tried to take control of housing and zoning away from localities while working on progressive hot-button issues such as encouraging early transgender treatments and abortion and banning tobacco sales to anyone born after 2007. Newsom's response to the crisis reveals the inner autocrat so often found within those who pursue Peronist policies and has caused wealthy residents to exit the state, leading to large tax base erosion, growing budget deficits, and unfunded pension and retirement liabilities.
